What you're seeing from me here is what I was forced to learn at school... how to deal with being the underdog. It's me vs the world. The only difference now is I actually enjoy it, because I'm not actually being bullied (though I'm sure one or two of you think that's what you're doing), and I'm not desperate for friends like at school.

I've been playing chess since I was 7, it was my escape from the cunts at school. I'm not brilliant at it, but I can definitely hold my own. I gotta be honest, it was satisfying to beat someone who accused me of not being a thinker. Spoon is better at openings than I am, but I got him tactically in the middlegame, where it matters. Chess is a wonderful game.

I think spoon is way better at poker than I am though, so I'm not gonna get a superiority complex over the guy. I'd like to think he has a tiny little bit more respect for me, but then it's not important. I enoyed our games, I would've done had I lost them both.

London is an extremely diverse city with a great many people of different cultures, it doesn't surprise me that you see it differently than I do. I live in Worcestershire, there is very little racial tension, and what little there is is generally between Muslims and non-Muslims. I guess out of the city racism just isn't an issue like it is in the city, people get along just fine and no-one gets offended by simple words, communities are closer and faces are more familiar.

The thing is, calling a takeaway a chinky is not me and my mates trying to be funny, it's just us using a word that we consider to be mildly offensive, no more offensive than retard. Of course chinky might offend some Chinese people, but then I don't make a habit of saying it at the restaurant. But then I try not to say words like retard in the company of those with obvious mental issues, because that's going to offend a lot of those people too. Bolded bit is not true, there just aren't enough of any minority in small villages to start an association and voice their disappointment and pain. A lone black guy in a country village full of whites may tolerate mild racism just so he can get by in his day to day life, but it doesn't mean it doesn't sting just the same. I think the fact that you live in a place where there are no reacial tensions simply means you have no experience and therefore understanding of the issue.
