He will always cleverly inquire on the caller's insurance coverage with the opposed and allow the in-betweeners and supporters to make comments unmolested.

If people want to make the poor decision to avoid health insurance believing that the vigor of youth can carry them through; instead waiting for older-days and wealthier occupation before attaining coverage... that's capitalism. If people want to make bad decisions, we all should enjoy every opportunity to take advantage. The host shouldn't highlight their foolishness, just ignore it and move on.

Common sense would indicate that if an individual does not posses extensive knowledge on a particular subject, said individual should not ever be allowed to dictate legislation on said knowledge.

This is a typical reponse from an idiot who has no idea on the subject, not much different from those that passed the law on it.

If I was running a shop like that I'd damn well want to make sure the users weren't doing any illegal with the computers I own and would am liable for.

This is the response of one who is in the business on a day to day basis, and therefore knows wtf is going on

I own a LAN center here in Texas. How do you propose to monitor 18+ computers, constantly switching out with other users, and researching every single action or app they do? There is no automated way to do it, and any programs that can attempt to do so are both intrusive, destructive on the speed and function of the PC, costly, and still fail to capture or identify any potentially harmful actions by the user without human monitoring.

It's not possible, not in any effective way, but soon that won't matter. All that will matter is that people (that own the public PCs) will be punished for the actions of others.

This isn't new news, coming from England, as right here in Texas we have agents from local and federal police coming in telling us they are part of a new "task force" and that we should not only REPORT anything we find, but actively monitor and seek activity out. We also do computer repair services (which is our primary business) and the agents tell us they would like us to look through all the documents on every PC that comes in for service. They ask we look for "questionable" pictures, to check to see if their music is legally purchased, and other irrational things that are both impossible/poorly defined/or so intrusive to privacy.

So what is the point I'm trying to make, you ask? This exact thing happened to poker as well, spawning the now infamous UIGEA and stuff.

It should be made illegal that people who have no idea what they are doing to be allowed to pass laws regarding any subject they do not understand or know about, other than their feelings on the subject. That is the one thing that should be criminalized worldwide.
