Why is the November Nine played 3 months after the rest of the events?

Why did the final table of the 2012 main event take place 103 days after the main event got down to the final table?

It wasn't always like that... What is the reasoning behind this?

I've heard the emperor's story before, but I didn't think it was a 10 month calendar beforehand? Isn't a month based on a moon phase cycle i.e. meaning you can't arbitrarily decide how long a month is

It is clearly a commercial decision to allow them to maximise advertising, sponsorship etc etc. I kind of like it though and think it is not a bad idea to have the break. I like to read up on the players and find out a bit about them.
