The problem with these is that you almost choose your own profile. The questions are so vague that you can fill in almost any set of details to justify one choice over the other.

agree this is an oversimplified exercise and I question whether or not an even properly-executed one would have any merit to it whatsoever, but, here is how I scored:

I didn't realize how unreliable this test was! I figured 70+ questions and being on the top of the google search results was pretty good.

Obv the result isnt binary, just (in theory) demonstrates tendencies towards a certain type of behavior. The accuracy relies heavily on how accurate the person's image is of him/herself, and whether the answers reflect how the person actually is and not what he/she would want to be.

While it's not binary in that if you're P you're not J, it's also not cardinal or part of a spectrum. There's no true measure of your perceptiveness versus your judgement-ality. And you can be both perceptive and judgey at the same time or extroverted and introverted - say for instance you're out with friends but in you're own little clique. You're being out going and having fun with people you know, but can be super awkward and private standing next to someone waiting to order a drink. "I'm shy and private but once you get to know me, I can be the life of the party."

A lot of people misunderstand was extrovert and introvert mean. Just because someone's the loud funny guy of the group doesn't necessarily mean he's an extrovert. An extrovert enjoys being in the company of others, even if they don't say a word the entire time. If being around others takes a lot out of you, even If you're the guy with the loud voice and all the stories, then you're probably an introvert.

yea i think you're right. A few of the questions are directly related to that, and i think i answered them differently last time. Looking at the definitions I actually don't even fit in any of these categories lollll. Alien imo

And there's the problem with trying to categorize human behavior. Choosing one OR the other neglects the shades of gray that everyone inevitably falls in between the two ends of the spectrum.

On top of that, it's fundamentally difficult to make accurate assumptions about what comprises a personality. People guess at what might help illuminate some essential truth about people and their interactions with themselves and world and check that it's intuitively true but the difficulty in testing for and demonstrating these assumptions true is very high.

Yeah there's a reason psychology (especially personality theory) is considered a 'soft' science. Still, I think it's incredibly important we do our best to figure out what makes us tick, it's just such a daunting task when faced with something as complicated as the human brain. We don't (yet) have the luxury of studying a lot of things in isolation, but advances in physiological psych are getting us closer, incrementally.

Sort of related, my sister has ocpd and is taking part in a study of brain activity by some university. They're scanning her brain whilst putting her in an agitated state through questioning her about her issues to see if they can find any physical differences between someone with ocd and someon, well, normal, for want of a better description.

The thing for me about that test is of the four different types: explorer, builder, negotiator, and director; I am easily primary negotiator secondary director. No other combination makes nearly as much sense, not even primary director secondary negotiator. The main reason I think it's probably quite legit is I can't identify that well with any options other than what I actually scored for |

The test is legit, yo. I learned stuff about why I am the way I am simply by scoring as a negotiator(estrogen)/director(testosterone). That's generally not what men are, but I've always been able to connect very well with women and understand feminine things quiet easily, yet also have the normal masculine characteristics |

I tried to use the fact that I'm an explorer to explain to my gf why I get bored around the house on the weekends and fuck off to do my own thing quite often. It didn't Change the fact that it pisses her off but at least now I can say I can't help it.

Finally took the test. Had great difficulty answering about 3/4ths of the questions, but I think the test has some merit through its redundancy of questions, so it doesn't matter if many of them are impossible to answer. |

omg so sick. I was explaining this to my wife just yesterday. I go deeeeeep into my mental resources to figure out how and why something functions the way it does. Once I've done that I'm pretty much done with it, and doing shit with this knowledge isn't all that interesting to me. It means often projects get left uncompleted - it's the knowledge that I can complete the task if i really need to that's important to me, not actually completing it.
