I'm good thanks, I have a job, I'm a productive member of society again. I also met mojo IRL last year, when he came to visit England, he's a cool dude.

I have enjoyed few movies as much as The Substance. It goes full throttle from beginning to end. It's the Fury Road of body horror movies. There's a little bit of Videodrome, Society, The Elephant Man, a lot of The Fly, Possession, a bucket full of Showgirls, and a little bit of Nothing but Trouble. Demi Moore and Margret Qualley are amazing in it.
Everyone should watch it. This is one where you can go "I saw that in the theatre!" in 10 years, and everyone will know that you're awesome.

My work schedule last month had me seeing mostly midnight screenings. I can report that Pet Semetary is a lot more fun than I remembered, while Dario Argento's Phenomena dragged on a lot more than I remembered. Dario Argento has a screenplay-by credit in 2022. Who hires this man to write?

The Ugly Stepsister is fun. Avoid spoilers.
Watching Clown in a Cornfield tonight. Will report back.

Putting Sinners on my list. Big budget original screenplay? What year is this?!

Big news! Clown in a Cornfield is alright!
An hour through it I thought, ok this is a charming but quite dull pos. I'm sure they saved all the good kills for the last third of the movie which is why this was recommended to me, but I made a mental note to remind myself how very mediocre the first part was, as not to be deceived by a passable final act, and sure enough: Some decent clown kills and a cute twist at the end.
Still, unforgiveable paint-by-numbers stuff for most of the movie. Cute final girl - comes from the Pixar school of acting. They really hammered home the point that she's supposed to be 17 which made me feel weird the entire movie until I looked her up and the actress is 27, so crisis averted! Not today, Chris Hanson, not today!

Big summer for horror! Watched both Together and Weapons this week. I'll have to re-watch Barbarian, because I remember thinking Barbarian was alright, but Weapons is something else. The scariest part is that the director, Zach Cregger, is currently credited under a Resident Evil reboot. This man must be protected at all cost! He's like a straight Robert Eggers. Weapons is such a smooth and satisfying ride from start to finish, in a No Country for Old Men kind of way. Can't say enough good things about it. I'll definitely re-watch it while it's still in theatres.

Really surprised how engaging Together was throughout, for a movie which entire plot is in the poster.
