Occupy wall street is a joke. It has no public, official demand and the proposed list of demands is hillarious. Most of the people protesting can't even explain why they are protesting.

It's a grassroots movement... they may not have the perfect soundbites, but they have the right idea. They are fed up with the status quo and they want change. Being a grassroots movement, it is open to everyone. Why don't you get involved? Do your part to steer things in the right direction... or you can sit at your computer lambasting those who are actually taking action.

Part of the point of OWS is that Wall Street and multinational corporations are the government. While it would be nice to protest the whores, you have to go to the source and fight the people financing the facade |

That's good, I'm happy to hear that you are actively participating. I personally am in a small city in South East Asia right now-- not really sure yet how I can get involved. But my point was not to attack you, but to promote being active, instead of trashing the efforts of others who more or less share the same sentiments as yourself. Sure there are flaws with the OWS movement, but I'm sure there are plenty of flaws with OTF too. One glaring red flag is the National Inflation Association video they have linked. This organization is very suspicious... do a little googling and you'll see why. I'm not going to judge the whole of OTF based on this, but this is actually published on their website... unlike the forum post listing proposed demands on OWS.

Lol, that transvestite of a news anchor just compared OWS to the french and russian revolutionaries, and did so with a negative connotation. Is she smoking crack? Then she goes and compares OWS to the early Nazi movement. Well, yes, Nazi Germany was a result of a people having an insurmountable debt imposed upon them. Not an excuse for what the Nazi's did, but it's just funny that she's pretty much saying the opposite of what she wants to convey.

I don't think anyone here noticed it, but that "list of demands" was posted by "anonymous" on a forum, it wasn't an official post, just some random guy. Its now been highlighted on the page that thats the case, but I suspect the damage is done.

Park is privately owned. Owners don't want protesters to set up tents and tarps. Owners were "considerate" enough to warn protesters that action will soon be taken.

When I say mi casa es su casa it implies you can stay or visit whenever you want but if you sit on my couch for three weeks watching reruns with no foreseeable end I'm pretty sure I'm going to kick you out and call the police if necessary because its my house and I can decide who stays there. Sorry I'm not sorry your feelings get hurt when I throw you out of my private property.

But none of that is relevant. You didn't destroy the economy, you don't have your police-thugs entrap peaceful protesters, you didn't bypass the First Amendment by making peaceful protests not possible via proxy. |

At what point do the plebs not get the blame? A financial system is a public utility, yet we got that privatized, the cumstains steal everybody's money with lies, then steal more money by making us pay for their lies again, then they tell us we're breaking the law when we protest their thievery. Private property my fucking ass. Private property was meant to be to be a human right, but then they privatized public utilities to such a great degree that the government itself can claim private property, then lo n behold it's a totalitarian regime |

I don't see how past grievances have any bearing on the constitution or rights. Regardless if you're a saint or a dbag, you get the same rights. If the park is privately owned and the owner wants it cleared then it must be cleared regardless of whether that property is owned by Mother Teresa or Lucifer. The owner "could" allow them to sleep there but has chosen otherwise. I don't care what the government or wall street has done; that has zero bearing on this isolated instance.

Also, if you want to learn more about the parks in NYC, you should google the riots in Thompson Square Park in the early 90s. I believe that's when a park association was either created or given the power to "privatize" parks for, as they saw it, the "greater good." This was back when NYC wasn't such a nice place and most public parks were littered with tents of homeless people, drugs, and crime.

Fantastic. So let's let them protest the real government on Wall Street. Oh wait they can't because the government now can claim private property. So let's let them protest on public property. Oh wait that's illegal too |

We shouldn't even be talking about this. We should be talking about how Wall Street is a public/private gray area that gives them all the benefits of both and pushes the negatives onto everybody else. They're public inasmuch as they're shadow government and they control one of the most important public utilities in existence, so we should then be able to protest them, but we can't because they're also private. |

The constitution is supposed to give the people the right to protest social injustice. Yet through loopholes it is impossible to actively protest said injustices. How is this not a clear violation of constitutional rights?
