At the very least, when a vacutainer is submitted as evidence, it should come documented.

Kinda surprised at how many people are taking the cops' side on this, or just have the attitude that Avery's a bad guy so probably best if he's in jail. The police handling of the case was laughably bad. I mean, Avery and his nephew are supposed to be the dumb ones and the cops and DAs are just screwing up all over the place. They just make themselves look so unprofessional, biased, and lacking in any kind of integrity.

The documentary cherrypicked aspects of the story to make Avery seem more innocent. It's been a while since I saw the series, but check out reddit to see what damning stuff they left out. He's overwhelmingly likely to have committed the murder.

I really don't know if he did it or not, my beef is with how they conducted the investigation and why all the hard evidence was either lacking or somehow dodgy.

They probably both deserve to be free if we're talking about from a legal perspective. The state botched the case. I don't really have an opinion as to Dassey's guilt. The case against him is certainly not as ironclad as against Avery, I'll grant.

My best guess now is neither of them are guilty. They couldn't get Avery to admit to anything so they planted evidence. They wanted the Dassey kid to implicate Avery, and once they got the Dassey kid to 'confess' they thought they didn't need any more evidence after that. That's why none of the kid's DNA turns up anywhere, but Avery's does.
