Lol at your opinion on durrrr and galfond as the best NL players. Neither is very good by today's standards. |

LOL its not an opinion . and what are today's standards? online hu? if you disagree with "durrrr in any NL holdem ring game in the world he will have the biggest edge" id like you to be specific. and you have to discount what phil says because hes modest. also sauce is awesome. isildur is good. there are a handful of other super sharp internet kids but none are on the highest level.

there are always average macau games going, almost around the clock, and they have a higher potential to land a fish than in vegas. also its cool just because its exotic and its the place to be. ive heard pokerstars is trying to reopen their pokerroom there (they had one and closed it down) which will be interesting

every type of fish. from completely clueless guy that loses his buyin within 10 hands to internet kid who has huge live tells to chinese businessman that knows he will lose a million HKD a year and hes ok with that, as long as it goes slow. recently they banned cigarettes in the wynn poker room, which is where i play, and its hurt the number of fish dropins. they cant just buyin with their baccarat money and chainsmoke all day which is bad for the poker economy (but better for the wynn if these guys stick to the baccarat tables)

Does Phil even play all that much anymore, or does he only play to make videos? The fact he's created a new training site suggests to me he's looking at gaining extra income aside from poker

i thought it was just fine. that series is more about the journey but i could see why not everyone was thrilled. i listened to the audiobooks that had an epic voice actor. i loved it for all the long drives. i played fallout 3 but there was too much to do. im over singe player games like that where it seems like theres no ending. i beat bioshock infinite last month and enjoyed it, but felt dumb for not just renting it. boc i guess

What advice would you give to a mediocre small stakes online reg (in the US) for improving? Spots to analyze that I might not have looked at? Things that you think small stakes players are likely doing worse than midstakes, etc?

a friend of mine who plays for a living live spends a good 4-5 months each year between vegas and macau. the way he has described macau seems insane. basically nothing to do except gamble or drink, hours upon hours spent waiting for a game, dropping large amounts (obv standard for mid-high stakes deep live play but the hands/hr makes it hurt) only to have the game break and have to return to the hotel to dwell on a 6-figure-loss while waiting for a text when the next decent game starts up. he also mentioned having a lot of trouble electronically transferring his money so he could access it in macau. this is obviously a description of when things are going far worse than average for one particular person, but i cant imagine things of this nature are out of the ordinary for someone who travels/gambles for a living. so..

good thread btw, hadn't realized you were playing big in Macau. Can you talk a little bit about what games/stakes you've played and the roles backers have played in that? |

Can you talk more about playing in macau, well live in general actually, and how you keep track of the people at the table and how you decide what strategy to play against them.

keeping sane isnt hard for me.. if theres no games im either sleeping, chillin with friends (gambling or video games), weekly pickup soccer games, playing darts at the bar, on the internet, eating something delicious, ive even gone on some dates in macau. ive made plenty of friends at the poker tables where we hang outside of the tables.

7.7HKD = 1 USD. ive played plenty of nl and plo at 50/100 and 100/200. ive played a fair amount of 200/500 plo and some 3/600 nl. the plo games are more likely to run with a straddle on them (only utg though). i have had different backers in different situations. its pretty common in the huge games for pros to swap pieces.

i would say its pretty balanced strategy until i see what people are doing wrong. since there are so few hands, usually i see one thing, and it might not even be a mistake, but i will try to punish a person as if it was a mistake. like if i see them showdown a hand that was the absolute bottom of their range, i might think they are looser than they should be and attack them in a similar spot. but maybe they know that hand was the bottom of their range, so they are happy to let me come at them.

ha no i was the one that started it so it that wouldnt really fit. i said he was a crazy person for making it violent all of a sudden. i had to stay cool because 1) keep the fish happy 2) i was right and had to prove it (dude was wrong so he got way over defensive) and 3) had to impress the cute dealer
