If you work for min wage and get a 50% pay rise I'm sure you'll work your ass off to keep that job.

Nope, this happened to me. The job was boring, the bosses were dumb and the work was tedious. The quality of my work was, "Don't give them a reason to fire you today." both before and after the raise.

Contrast with what I'm doing now. I'd work as hard for half as much.
