as for the topic at hand... dont do this shit, its really stupid and counter productive. Its only healthy to lose .5-2lbs/week. Anymore is too rapid to be healthy and/or simply bone mass/water weight. Just go ahead with your plan to cut soda out of your diet and start to work out a little. If you dont want to work out, fine, but dont do a "crash" diet. Its stupid.
As for being "big boned" and what not, it is true. I have a small frame, my thumb goes past the first knuckle of my middle finger when put around my wrist. I thought it was a myth as well but Im currentlyl in nutrition class and my professor says its definitely true. However its not true to the extent of someone being obese. It just means that a person thats 5'11 could have a healthy body weight anywhere from 135-180. The variance is mostly due to bone structure.
So yah, dont do this, the weight you lose will not reflect in a better physique nor will it make you healthier, so Im not quite sure what purpose it would serve except to dehydrate you before you visit a tropical climate. Doesnt seem to make much sense to me.
