Default FTR is now syndicated! Support for RSS and Atom Feeds!

For any of you that use newsreaders or otherwise use RSS or Atom subscriptions, please try this out and post your feedback in this topic.

    EDIT 3 July 2007:
An updated version of SmartFeed has now been installed. The default feed (clicking on the little Feed icon in your browser's address or menu bar) subscribes you to our FTR Exclusives forum only.

Note the new Feed icon in the right of the top masthead of the forum pages (to the right of "Poker Forum"). Click on this icon to customize your FTR web feed and change the forum subscriptions for your newsreader.

Seems to work.. I prefer to use the "view posts since last visit" anyway though.

I'm having a few issues using the sage addon for Firefox. It doesn't seem to work if I have all topics checked or if I have only new topics checked. It says something about the URL being wrong

I use Opera browser 9.21 (newest release) with built in support for news/rss/atom feeds and it works perfectly. Will be using this a lot.

    Great job Xianti

    Using Sage with Firefox:

If you click on the magnifying glass icon in the Sage panel ("Discover Feeds"), you should now see "FTR Poker Forum" appear in the list. Select it and "Add Feed."

Now, make sure you are logged in to our forum and go to the SmartFeed menu (by clicking on the Feed icon near the top-right of our forum masthead). Select the options and the forums to subscribe. Click "Generate URL." Copy the entire URL.

In your Sage panel, select the "FTR Poker Forum" feed in the list and right-click to edit "Properties." Replace the URL in the "Location:" field by pasting in the new URL.

Now, when you click on "FTR Poker Forum" in your Sage panel, you will get your customized FTR web feed.

I use view post since last visit also.
But is there a better way? Do I need to download some type of newsreader?
If there is, can you post links to the news reader.?
    Thanks.

Perhaps someone that uses newsfeeds regularly, such as Sheetah or bigred here, can explain how they use them to streamline their reading and suggest some newsreaders for you.

I did for awhile but mostly stopped using RSS feeds in general. I need to get back into it.

I've never really used RSS feeds.. what exactly are they for? How is it any different from the "view unread threads" or w/e at the top

Not working for me with Sage. First time I have tried using this anywhere though, but I got another website to work no problem and I followed your instructions specifically for Sage.

Ive tried using this, but after about 2weeks it stops working? Could this be from cleaning cookies?

I would guess that wiping your cookies affected your feed settings. Try it for longer than 2 weeks without deleting your cookies and let me know if you encounter this same problem. Thanks.
