ive been trying to keep up on recent events, but it always seems to come back to the same question, that being: why is ftp having so much trouble paying back its players, when similarly large online poker site Pokerstars did not?

I recall seeing an article lately about ftp supposedly trying to 'raise funds' to pay back players, but I'm left with a lack of faith in the credibility of that information.

apologies for perhaps doing little more than just complaining about the state of things, i guess its not cool to do that here :P

because stars had players funds seperated into dedicated accounts so that they were protected, Full tilt just mixed up players funds with their own funds so they could not be identified as players assets and not company funds so that they were frozen as company funds. This meant stars could pay out and Full tilt are deep in the doodoo hoping that the rest of the world will continue playing and gemneratoing rake so that they can generate the funds to pay the american players .

well, the hope is that they were unable to get the funds unfrozen because they did not segregate... but more than likely, frozen accounts unfrozen or not, they don't have the money to pay all the US players without crippling their operation.

I assure you it has nothing to do with "manning up".

I encourage you not to use that phrase in this context or any.

    lol wow. just...wow.

I always thought that people judged you a little unfairly, but after that post? You really are everything that they said...and then some.

I concur with the people above saying that losing one's livelihood is a preferable consequence to having your personality flaws.

Then clearly you are a person who is unfortunately grouped with a community that has unfairly judged me.

As a result of being unfairly judged, I take great delight in making sweeping statements once in a while with the purpose of riling and annoying the community, the majority of whom don't have a clue who I really am and judge me to be someone with personality flaws - I kill them and enjoy myself by simply playing up to that misconception.

If you're in the minority who sees me as someone without these crazy personality flaws, then fair enough.

And, to keep the thread on track, I genuinely have absolutely no sympathy for those who have lost their livelihoods as a result of the ban. You knew poker was illegal in the USA for many years, you knew you were making a living in an unstable industry, and you had about 5 years to make contingency plans for when this would happen. If you've "lost your livelihood" because of the ban, you're frankly terrible at life.

It didn't, but it made the supply of online poker to Americans illegal. And if a professional American online poker player still thought he was in an industry that didn't have a chance of blowing up completely with no notice at all, then said poker player is a bloody idiot.

No sympathy to those who lost their livelihoods, it is entirely their own fault that they didn't plan for this to happen.

no it didn't, it 'prohibits gambling businesses from knowingly accepting payments in connection with the participation of another person in a bet or wager that involves the use of the Internet and that is unlawful under any federal or state law'

I don't think it's an either kind of thing.

Folks who went all-in on online poker and didn't build something else on the side (assuming they could) or make a big pile of money certainly misplayed their hand. But good people make poor decisions all the time, otherwise poker wouldn't have been sooo darn good for as long as it was and probably will be once again.

Lots of "successful" people took the sucker end of a bet for a lot of money and got lucky. My current employer for starters....

I didn't want to stiff anyone before, but since it now looks fairly inevitable that U.S. players will get paid and perhaps soon, I'll offer up FT money again at .80/1.

Bump - Since I don't see a point in playing at Poker Nordica after black friday, I decided to try a withdrawal of my meager roll. I had $2 more than the minimum withdrawal amount. Odds on it going through?
    --------------------------

Thank you for playing at PokerNordica.com.

Your Click2Pay withdrawal request of $52.00 has been received and will be processed within 72 hours.
