Is the Hildawg collapsing? I'm surprised to see she lost West Virginia.

I'm pretty blown away that she's stomping among black and Hispanic demos yet he's this close to her. Dat labor/youth coalition doe.

I get why labor likes Bernie. Labor lobbies for and requires government special treatment and they tend to know it. It's those outside of labor who tend to not know it, and instead think of labor as "pro-worker."

What I don't get is why the youth likes Bernie. Is it just because the demo is egregiously ignorant about reality? I feel like that may be a poor characterization. Do they see somebody more open to alternative cultures or something? This would make some sense to me since I saw it real time in Ezra Klein a while back. He was interviewing Bernie and assumed he was pro-immigration the way the base left is today, and Bernie corrected him, alluding to how he's pretty anti-immigrant in lots of ways, and Ezra was sorta blown away. Even a guy who considers himself a top tier journalist doesn't know his history enough to know that there's nothing new about Sanders' ideals and that they've always revolved around protectionism.

Has Sanders been regularly beating Clinton in states where she polls ahead?

Because they are lazy and entitled. It really is that simple.

When I was a Bernie supporter, I had legitimate reasons. I'm not a Bernie supporter anymore because I learned that his solutions are wrong.

I see Bernie supporters viewing capitalism the same way Ong does: that it's fundamentally unfair and fundamentally favorable to the rich and powerful, and that government regulation elected by democracy is the only mechanism through which this can be mitigated. This doesn't strike me as entitled, but it is definitely wrong. It could be lazy though. It takes diligence to learn why wrong beliefs are wrong.

Is there any legal or tactical reason why Trump would respond with "I'm building a wall" instead of "because I'm building a wall?"

Basically what's going on is Trump said a judge should recuse himself from a Trump case because he's Mexican. Every time Tapper asks him why his race matters, Trump says "I'm building a wall." They go over this like a dozen times, and Trump never explicitly claims that the judge is treating him unfairly because the judge is against Trump because Trump is building a wall, but he alludes to that every which way he can.

    Two thoughts:

    1. "I'm building a wall" is more dominant.
    2. "Because I'm building a wall" makes a direct claim about the bullshit this unfair and biased judge is pulling while "I'm building a wall" does not.
  8. #8
Well, Trump is correct about the Mexican judge situation. Those saying he's being racist are playing identity politics, and his point was never that the judge couldn't perform his duties because of his race but that the judge has been treating him unfairly, which means it's worth looking for explanations, which reveals that it could be because of the judge's race and not liking Trump for reasons of race.

We can't have it both ways. We can applaud Sotomayor when she said that her race informs her judgment then say a white person is wrong when he suggests race informs somebody's judgment.

I like this development. Trump's response against the party for playing identity politics is a better response than I think even Cruz would have made. Race double standards are festering boils.

Trump being down in Connecticut by only 7 is crazy. Romney lost it by 18. This suggests Trump could win Pennsylvania.

I think she needs to get Warren on the ticket. Picking some schmuck from Ohio in the hopes of clinching one swing state is not the play for this cycle. Oddly she actually needs a VP that will outshine her through November. Warren is the perfect attack dog. The ticket, through her, can go after everything Trump says, and despite being a fierce speaker, she remains sympathetic, so they get the woman card back in play-- Trump can attack Clinton with abandon and suffer no backlash, but people actually like Warren. Trump will roflstomp any male VP Clinton may go for. Further, Warren will bring the vast majority of Sanders supporters back into the fold.

It may be a stretch, but maybe the establishment is on the fence about it, and Sanders is only staying in the race to pull the party left and make reunification only possible under a Clinton Warren ticket.

Id reluctantly show up and vote for Clinton if Warren was on the ticket.

I wonder if Warren would do it though.

warren would easily be the best pick, but i seriously doubt she would accept. had she run for president she would have gotten the nomination. ain't no way she's gonna accept 2nd place while denying a 1st she could have had if she wanted.

Warren would have lolcrushed this entire election season.

Shame that Hillary won this nomination by default 8 years ago.

Would've could've. Who knows what maneuvering Clinton pulled to convince her to stay on the sidelines. Hell, maybe she was threatened with the Native American college application thing, but the threat was truly Machiavellian... if she runs, the Clinton campaign uses it against her while she's front and center and will be decimated by it-- however, if she stands aside this time around, the dirt gets leaked mid news cycle between Trump mouth spew and Clinton indictment updates, it gets little traction, but enough to render it old news and nullify it come 2024, and on top of that the Clintons will throw their weight behind her in 2024. Her being VP actually makes this work even better-- she does a bang up job for eight years as VP and this college application nonsense is less than a nonissue.

Details on both claims? I guess I'm looking for something more substantive on the former, as it sounds interesting and a fact check on the latter as it sounds conspiratorial.

I've been watching it in real time. I've seen probably over a hundred claims by people getting their post deleted and them banned just by posting a news article mentioning any relation to Islam of the shooting. Several have included screenshots. If I come across them again I'll post them.

Reddit isn't a source for news; however, it is occasionally useful for accumulating sources that are news.

With that said, r/news has a "megathread" up discussing the issue, and it would appear that over 75% of comments were deleted.
  33. #33
Who is deleting and why? Or do we just have our best guesses?

    the r/news mods.

There is finally now a thread in r/news that mentions ISIS that hasn't been deleted.

Why are the mods doing this? Well, maybe they legitimately believe Islamic terrorism is not a thing. Maybe they don't want anything that counters this narrative to see the light of day.

Probably to no one's surprise, I'm active on /r/The_Donald, and the situation with /r/news is largely because the left has this weird cognitive dissonance where they want to side with Islam *and* side with the LGBT group, but you have to pick one or the other. They're all just pissed it wasn't a white guy so they could blame it on racism, homophobia, lack of gun control, "toxic masculinity," etc.

These camel-fuckers want to throw me off of a fucking building for my sexual preferences, but we're supposed to be tolerant of that. Kiss my fucking ass.

Millions of people, politicians, policy-makers, mainstream media, the list goes on.

They aren't as irrelevant as you suggest here. They largely influence the narrative.

Screenshot of mass deletions. Those on r/the_donald are claiming it's when they mention "muslim" or anything related or when asking why they're being censored.

If you'll allow my politics to jump in here for a second: reports are wide that the shooter is an Afghan Islamist who pledged allegiance to ISIS on a 911 call just before entering a gun free zone full of mostly gay people. Obama just gave a speech, where he says the motivation is unknown and he blames guns.

The allegiance the Democratic Party has to its political prejudices has given this election to Trump.

I always hate how reddit culls comment sections. So what if white supremacists or pedo-apologists take over the comment sections. The idea of upvotes and downvotes exists for the hivemind to highlight and hide comments as it wishes. You need moderators to make sure a subreddit stays true to its stated purpose, but not to control whatever conversations happen within it.

Reddit's concern is with legal issues. I'm not a civil attorney, so idk what shit they can get into for knowingly permitting potential hate speech...but that's the fear.

Rilla, spot on. I wonder if there is a market for more of a 4chan-esque reddit, or if there'll be enough outrage that eventually reddit will change its policy.

Wuf, yeah, the party's policy of never associating terrorism with Islam is pretty disturbing.

I thought reddit was pretty easy going on this type of thing for a while, it's only relatively recently they've started banning and moderating things so harshly. It's gone past the point in size for being useful for lots of things it used to be useful for because it's such a big site now the people running it will end up getting in shit and when they're probably making very good money from the site it's not in any way worth it for them to let that happen.
  44. #44
I don't know about the reddit admins, but subreddit mods are pretty much just average people who can do what they wish for the most part. Admins certainly do play a role with things like choosing the default subs. r/news and r/worldnews absolutely should be kicked off.

    google define hate speech

Hate speech is speech that offends, threatens, or insults groups, based on race, color, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, disability, or other traits.

Hahaha, all of these avenues of discussion are off limits. Why? Don't ask why. We don't need to give you a why, we just need to tell you they're off limits.

I know arguments over race are fruitless because the races are much more similar than they are different.

I know arguments over religion are fruitful because religion is useful and divisive and always wrong.

I know these things because I was allowed to explore them. Why keep someone else from learning what I've learned?

yeah but wasnt trump right about the curiel thing? last time i checked (frankly i didnt double check because i dont really care), the judge was nationalized and is part of a group where the leader claims all non-hispanics should leave california. it's not a stretch to claim this judge may be biased against trump, especially if it is true that he has been unusually causing trump problems.

You don't know the man based on what r/the_donald has brought you. You don't know anything but what little bits and pieces make it seem like Mr Trump was in the right.

This is the fun of argument, even on the biggest stage, you can highlight all the things that point one way, and hide all the things that point another, and win.

I didn't know this judge before, I'm not going to pretend to know this judge now.

Yeah it is. They've expanded the default subs to include things like /r/TwoXChromosomes, a super pro-SJW type, woman-centric sub full of people who have complained about becoming a default sub because of the expansion in size and audience.

If you're interested in the process of how SJW types take over an organization, check out the book SJWs Always Lie by Vox Day.

Apparently the censoring was much worse than I thought. It wasn't just regarding referencing the shooter as a Muslim. The r/news mods ganked all mention of a shooting in the first place, and then after they stopped doing that, they ganked everything from people posting information on blood donation and personal accounts of what happened.

What some people will do for their agenda.

r/The_Donald saved the day and cracked me up while at it

It always upset me that a while back when Trump said that we should go after family members of terrorists that know about attacks beforehand that every other Republican came out against it like he was saying families should be targeted just because they're family.

All Trump said was to treat people equally under the law, and that when family members break it, they need to suffer the consequences.
  58. #58
There's irony that is the cucked of the Trump crowd. Whenever he says something that is deeply antagonistic to their most cherished beliefs (like how he now wants to take a giant dump on the 2nd), they rush to defend why he's perfect.

Looks like the delegates may be ousting Trump at the convention. As they probably should.
  59. #59
If there's any sign that Trump may not be in this to win this (or that he preferred a Hillary presidency all this time), it's that the party is making significant moves against him because he is getting obliterated in the polls in an unprecedented fashion, yet he still does not opt to do the one thing that he excels at and that would raise his poll numbers: go on the warpath against Hillary. I'm not saying this is the case, just that it's strange.

I think the GOP will lose more base votes by keeping Trump than by ousting him and doing something like Walker/Kasich. Add to that the fact that Walker/Kasich would have broad appeal to those not base Democrats, and that's probably the best move the delegates could do.

Trump's strategy to appeal to Democrats is just so dumb.

I, like many in this thread, have successfully predicted the Trump v. Clinton showdown.

But I still have no fucking clue which way this election will go. If Clinton gets a landslide victory, I will be shocked. If Trump wins, I will be shocked. If it goes neck and neck, I WILL BE SHOCKED. I have absolutely no fucking clue.

A man who was in the country illegally tried to assassinate Donald Trump by taking a cop's gun away from him. He was thankfully foiled.

In national polls, Trump was tied with her less than a month ago, and he's still ahead of where he was a month and a half to two months ago. It's a long few months until the general election, and he has a lot more ammunition for the long game than she does. Bouncing between losing by 0 percent and 6 percent isn't a big deal, but the media needs a constant story.

I'll be surprised if anybody other than Trump wins it all. I agree with the Scott Adams analysis and I feel it in my gut.

That said, if I'm a delegate, even though I think I can make a better case for Trump than most Trump supporters, I would be the last man standing in not giving him the nomination. I'm sorry, entertaining bullshit like the idea that people should be denied rights just because the government is monitoring them is total bullshit and should result in his support coming to a big fat flying fuck zero percent.

This is even though he says some things that are so so so true that nobody else says (even my main man Titanium Ted). The problem is that he always seems to find a way to say something else that is wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong and just helps legitimize the wrongness.

Let's hope he can get his shit together. I think a truly successful Trump presidency would be colossally beneficial to the country. I just fear the worst. The guy doubles down when he's attacked, but when it comes to bedrock constitutional principles he wanes. Double down on that shit, Jesus. It's the easiest thing in the world to win an election by telling authoritarians to fuck off.

TBH I think Trump would easily win the election if he just did things like show up to the most whiny of lefty congregations and said "Y'all a bunch of idiots who think the best way to stop a terrorist is to let him kill you." He'd win the election in a landslide. But instead he says things so outlandishly restrictive of constitutional rights that, if they were made law, even an entire court made up of Ginsbergs would strike them down.

Also, CNN reports that if we had the election tomorrow with only taxpayers, Trump would win 441-97

There is some serious movement to unseat Trump at the RNC next week. It looks like the majority of delegates are looking for other options.

Even though I have warmed to Trump in some ways, I would prefer to see him lose at the convention. He is a fucking liar. Speaking the truth on a handful of tough issues is great, but being a literal shithead is not.

Trump takes the general election EASILY.

    I think so too.

I shouldn't say I think Trump should be dumped at the convention, because really I don't know what I want. The anti-SJW force is IMO the most important force in the country right now, and that alone could put Trump over the top in us needing him as President. I just do not like him as a person and I don't think I ever will.
