I've recently been considering buying a gaming rig as I want to be able to play the latest and greatest PC titles. I haven't kept up with the high-end hardware industry at all in the last few years, so I was wondering what some people here might recommend. There is a local store that caters to this market, and I trust them, but they of course want to sell me something today, not three months from now, so their opinion is a little bias.

Should I buy something now, or wait? Is there something big on the verge of being released other than Vista (which I don't care about at this point)?
