I should declare an interest here; although I am a very aggressive player, I also go too far the other way and sometimes fold hands I shouldn't because I am OOP/not in control of the betting/too many players/can only beat a bluff etc. However, as a basic strategy I don't think this is a bad thing when you're finding your feet - and certainly at $50 you should be pwning enough fish to have a healthy rate of return even if some of the more marginal profits are eluding you.
yea i think im losing out on value due to a lack of aggression. i have, however, played many different styles. im just having trouble knowing the right way to play. just started using HUD and i think that is helping tremendously. im better than most donkeys at reading hands, yet i have issues with reading players due to not being able to pay close attention. essentially, HUD does that for you, or so i've discovered.
