    Update

    Overdue?

Good news and bad news, I'll start with the bad: Not attaining SNE this year, but I think that was already ldo. Also, very high chance of not netting the six figures that I thought was very doable 6 months ago. There's a few reasons for it, including:

    - Not enough volume. I've put in an average of 1000 hands per day since the beginning of March (I formatted my laptop and lost my hand histories so all of my data begins then). January and February I probably played like 50k hands. So, it's been pretty pathetic overall as far as work ethic goes.

    - Running below EV.

These two things plus eye surgery costs plus house costs have really put a damper on my bankroll and my credit card. Thus, I think I've not been playing my 'A' game for quite possibly 5-6 months.

    The good news:

I'm posting this update. This means I feel I have gotten a second wind = moar manies to be made soon. Other than a week camping at the end of this month, I don't really have any big plans to occupy a lot of my time this summer. Also, a fellow FTR'er has moved in with me this week and will be staying for at least the next few months (I probably got my 2nd wind from him).

As far as 2010 goals go,

What are you doing to meet goal #1?
I can't grind without smoking every 1/2-1 hour.
It's killing my productivity more than it's helping at this point.

I have the same problem.I have kids so I never smoke in the house.I've made a rule to not smoke until I've hit 100 hands in a session(I'm 2 tabling so you'd have to set your own goal depending on how many tables your playing). At this point in my education I find that discipline is mandatory and if we can't practice it with smoking we'll never be able to practice it with other more important factors to the game. That said,we all need to get off the coffin nails.Just not sure I'm ready.

A couple of days ago I played for about 4 hours. After my session I checked the cashier and noticed I had accrued no FPPs to speak of.If I did it was something like .02 or more but definately not a full point.I'm only 2 tabling 2nl but it seems like I'm usually doing way better than that.Didn't think about it twice til I read you're post.I'm not saying this should become a conspiracy theory and I've got alot of faith in Stars but yeah,WTF?Maybe start tracking my shit better.

Think it pays off in the long run? Based on how often they fold etc.

    Update

zomg July has been brutal. Today I finally got my profit line on the positive but am still down like 15 buy-ins in EV. Brutal Brutal month. Went through a really rough stretch for a few weeks there with confidence/finances etc.

Here's where I think a huge problem lay: In early June I moved my office (laptop) from my bedroom/desk/sick computer chair, all to the living room. I recently had a roomie move in (fellow FTR grindstar) and we had been playing side by side for the most part. My concentration had been off bigtime, with a TV in the room available at all times, multiple people in the room now, talking about hands and what not during the session... lead me to play really poorly. So I set back up in the bedroom and have been running good and have been playing better at the same time. What might have actually happened is that I'm playing better because I'm running better :s lol who the fuck knows for sure.

Anyways, current goal is to pay off my credit card debt asap. Would like to have it taken care of by the end of August.

Still not smoking, cooking a lot, working out more than ever. Oh and I scored a sick goal at footy on Sunday!

Hand 1: Assume villain is an unknown and hand is in a vacuum.

    No-Limit Hold'em, $2.00 BB (8 handed) - Hold'em Manager Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

    SB ($205)
    BB ($203)
    UTG ($216.50)
    UTG+1 ($91.95)
    MP1 ($200)
    MP2 ($203)
    Hero (CO) ($258.60)
    Button ($333.75)

Preflop: Hero is CO with J, J
4 folds, Hero bets $6, 1 fold, SB raises $17, 1 fold, Hero calls $12

    Flop: ($38) 3, 9, 9 (2 players)
SB bets $22, Hero calls $22

    Turn: ($82) 2 (2 players)
    SB bets $41

Hero???? I'm torn between folding/calling/shoving. I think calling is the worst option however.

    Hand 2:

Villain is a break-even mega tabling superfish. We've had a lot of odd play against each other recently and am pretty sure that my line is horrible.

I don't play FR nor your stakes, but shouldnt we be two barrelling this turn to get vallue from 77-JJ that are floating like always. Theres also a FD out there and SCs could be in his PF range especially if he feels the limper will call allowing him to have positional advantage in a multiway pot.
I'd Bet fold turn and check call river.
Of course your recent history my dictate otherwise such as floating tendencies, and what type of hands he calls IP with. But if hes a megatabling breakeven player, we won't be getting bluffed by worse on the turn.

Add to this I'm a newb whos down 12buyins at 50nl

GL with staying off the smokes and working out

you have ~33% equity vs QQ/KKxd, AA, AKxd/AdQx. call turn/decide river. SB is capable of having random hands (eg TT, bluffs) in his range that further increases your equity and more importantly he can also play his range incorrectly on the river, particularly since u have position.

How is that? by folding the River, you "might have" saved $34.15. You did have the nut FH, right? There are so many flushes and str8's, why fold? I know I'm missing something....

SNE and I'm willing to wager up to $1500 of my own money at 3:1.

    NAWT!

Maybe something more realistic for me would be a 500k goal.

I arrived in Vegas at 1am local time this morning.

Missed my first flight so I got drunk and arrived here with a hangover. Went straight to bed. I'll be here for 10 days with my friend Adrian, in the top 30 for 2010 winners online. Man I love name dropping right at the beginning of a post, although I suppose it's pointless without screen names.

Anyways, I wanted to start a trip report without starting a new thread/blog. I'll start a new one for 2011 (500k veeps with no prop bets).

Every time I go anywhere on vacation I lose a shitton of da manies right off the bat. This time I wanted things to be different so I went straight to bed with goals to begin today. After 10 days in Vegas, I'll be in Vancouver for 10 days, then back to my home in Ontario. My goals for the trip are three things:

    1) Reach the 200k vpp milestone. I'm at about 180k atm so I figure about an average of only 2500 hands/day. Which works out to almost 3hrs/day. Not out of the question to be accomplished. The problem here is that my laptop, my only computer, finally went fux0rz on me 10 minutes prior to leaving my home for the trip. Thus, I'll be using Adrian's smaller laptop with no HUD. Not sure what I'll do in Vancouver as far as online goes. Playing 20k vpps during this trip may be a rediculous idea.

    2) Make $1000/week live. I didn't bring a huge roll so I'll be playing the 1/2 game. I'm very confident that this goal will be attained, so long as I keep the liquor away.

    3) Go to the gym and get a sweat on everyday.

I'd like to update this thread on a daily basis. It will probably turn out to be more like 5 times a week but we'll see.

    Peace!

On my 2nd hand at Aria I was dealt 84s and doubled through KK at the 1/3 game. 30 Minutes later I joined my roomie at the 2/5 game and decided to get super drunk and belligerent and lose a bit on the night. I subconscious celebration for running so good imo.

    Saturday:

    Live:

13 Hours at the MGM. 4 Hours playing 1/2 and the rest was 2/5. I played very well the entire night but ended up losing -$840 in the end. I was down $1200 at one point, built it up to a profit of $200, then in 5 hands 6 handed I was dealt: AKo, QQ, AKs, 66, and A5s. -$850 during those hands, didn't play another. I was so tilted because I was so proud of the way I had played, winning everything back and then some, all to be lost with a brutal 5 hand stretch. The following is the first of those 5 hands:

    2/5 game 7 handed

Hero is SB with and $1700
UTG has a stack of $1500

    UTG limps
    MP calls
Folds to me and I make it $25, could have made it more obv
Folds to UTG who raises to $105
    Folds to me

It's important to note that UTG is my Vegas buddy that I'm sharing a room with. We've become very good friends and I'm yet to be in Vegas without him as my roomie. His limping range here is a variety of hands but I'd rather not disclose that entire range, although I'm very familiar with it. However, I will say that his UTG LR range is exactly AA, KK, AK, and sometimes AQ. I almost folded pre because It will be very difficult to turn the hand into a profitable one unless he has AQ and I hit the flop with one of the remaining 5 cards left in the deck. Anyways, I call. 3 Betting is out of the question IMO.

    Flop ($220):

At this point I'm thinking to myself: "WTF am I getting myself into here?"

    Hero checks

"Leading doesn't accomplish anything other than getting AQ to not cbet."

    UTG bets $125

"AQ isn't going to fire a 2nd time and maybe I can push a chop off of this flop with a CR."

    Hero raises to $350

"If he jams, I'm folding. A jam = AA, KK, or AK trying to re-push me off of a chop."

    UTG jams for $1050 more

    "FML"

    Hero folds.
    ...

The next four hands were stupid and brutal. Not going to get into it.

I was at this point that I decided Iwas tilting hard and that I would lose my remaining $650 if I stayed, probably. I'm very proud of recognizing my tilt, largely due to the fact that I was playing 13 hours at that point (I could easily do more but the problem at this point is that tilt is much easier to create and eliminate). So I racked up and left. Before leaving the casino, I joined my roomie for a smoke break for 10-15 minutes to discuss how I was feeling and the hands that were just played. He really helped turn my frustration into optimism, despite letting me know that he too, had AK.

The biggest pot I had ever lost happened today in the middle of my session:

    2/5 10 handed

Hero is SB with and a $1200 stack
Button has a stack of $750

    MP limps
    Button limps
    Hero raises to $30
    MP folds
    Button calls

    Flop ($70):

Right away I notice that villain looks so upset. He's litterally shaking his head in disappointment. Obviously dude either hates this flop and isn't going to put another chip in, or he sucks at live poker and came in his pants when he saw this gorgeous flop.

    Hero bets $60

Villain is reaching for chips and now I'm the one creaming my pants because it looks like the latter of the two possibilities is coming to fruition.

    Villain raises to $250
    Hero shoves for $670 more
    Villain snap calls

    Turn ($1500):

    "FML. GG. You win"

River is a low club and I want to muck so I can start the next hand. Villain scoops with

BTW Villain was the same guy that I won the biggest pot of my career against, only 3 days prior. Weird huh?

As mentioned previously, My 2 year old Sony Vaio lappy finally went kaput on me. I brought it into a computer store or two and they both mentioned that what's wrong with it is not even worth the price to fix, for the value of the entire thing. So, without further adieu:

    System:

    Intel Quad @ 2.5GHz
    4.00 GB
    64-bit Windows 7
    Dual Samsung LCD 23" monitors

It's an iCAN from Canada Computers, my new favorite computer store. $1200 After taxes.

Today will be dedicated to downloading all of the necessary pr0n and other standard stuff to get the ball rolling. Also, soccer @ noon, bank, and chicken alfredo linguine for the gf. Oh yeah, she moved in on Sunday and started her first day of work on Monday. Things right now are good on that front and I'm stoked to get back to work. I'll be able to have a 'start-up' session today to get the HUD and stuff in order but may not have a decent session until Sunday at the earliest.

BTW, I broke even playing poker in Vancouver and Las Vegas overall. Not too thrilled about it.
  65. #215
congrats on getting off the laptop. I would have bought a 32 inch monitor and been done with it. I desperately need a new monitor but I'm being cheap about it and waiting until boxing day :P

December was my best month in over a year. Every day was profitable, which is just sick. Attained 200k VPP but did not accomplish my $$ goal for the year. My plan is to do 500k VPP and $100k in 2011 but I'm not going to blog about it. Rather, berate others in theirs.

    Have a good year!
