I will say this, and I suppose I'm agreeing with the cops (sad), but there is no doubt that weed is MUCH more potent nowadays than when I was smokin'.

Let me make a note, I'm not looking to quit smoking pot any time in the near future. I plan on smoking it after I move out. I'm not going to buy any more (just bought my last eighter yesterday) until at least Halloween and then not again until I move out. My future roommate and I (fuck you BooG) have both agreed no more wake and bakes unless we have NOTHING planned for the day. No work, class, etc. Other then that, all systems are go once I'm outta the house.

I can't speak for the oldtimers about how much more potent the weed is now compared to back in the day, but my buddy's dad used to be a huge stoner back in the day and now he hasn't smoked in 20+ years. He took a hit off a blunt ~3 months back and was stoned off his ass. He claimed it was way stronger than anything he's ever tasted, etc. Hurrah for potology!

Oh the days of good ole wake 'n bakes, followed by a nice hairy ass menthol cig. All this while I played football in college... yeah, they didn't do as much drug testing 10 years ago.

Ok so I haven't played poker in a good week or so due to lack of motivation, etc lol. But thats ok, (StarGrinder, I'll ship you your $5 today, been good since then haha) I'm not too worried about putting in a ton of volume atm. I'm going to keep studying the game while away from the table and I'll play when I feel like it, not because I feel like I have to.

I have a little strategy post today that I'm going to be cross posting from Harley's blog. It's something I haven't really thought about in about two years so its about time for a refresher and it actually did open up my eyes a bit. Before I get started, it might seem like a wall of numbers, but I think I chopped it up enough and explained the equation well enough that you should be able to figure it out fairly easily and I assure you that it's worth it if you are one of these people that are raising too big while stealing. So here goes:

Some thoughts on blind stealing...

Assumptions:

1.) We assume that SB and BB together fold to a steal 82% of the time.

2.) We never win postflop when called and always fold to 3bet. (Obviously this isn't the case since we're IP and we'll have AA, etc sometimes, but it makes the math a lot less complicated.)

So... in Harleys blog, he posted some hands where he showed he was raising for 4x OTB when it was folded to him. I pointed out using some math that while raising to 4x can be profitable, most people's ranges won't change if you raise to 3x and some won't even if you raise to 2.5x.

Maths: Equation for this is, (P * F) - (R * (1-F)) where P = pot, F = how often they fold, and R = raise size.

.82 * 1.5 = 1.23bb
.18 * 4 = .72bb

1.23 - .72 = .51bb

Now for 3x:

.82 * 1.5 = 1.23bb
.18 * 3 = .54bb

1.23 - .54 = .69bb

For a difference of .18bb/hand when we raise to 3x instead of 4x. That's 18bb/100 hands difference! (Increase your winrate much, eh?)

For 2.5x (this will be pretty rare that people's ranges won't change to this raise size, but if you find the right table, it's definitely possible. Make sure you note who you can do this vs, since its basically free money every time you're OTB and its folded to you.

.82 * 1.5 = 1.23bb
.18 * 2.5 = .45bb

1.23 - .45 = .78bb

That's a .27bb/hand difference from 4x and a .09bb/hand difference from 3x. Or a 27bb/100 difference from 4x and 9bb/100 difference from 3x.

The numbers don't seem so insignificant now do they?

When someone gets banned, there should be an obligation to the FTR community to summarize how and why it all went down. Since the mod is the only authority able to ban, afaik, then the mod should explain. I don't give a damn who does it, but I wanna know. Was he corrupting the youth of FTR w/his willingness to mix weed/life/poker? Do you only have a certain amount of time to succeed to secure your place at FTR?

I guess all this went down in IRC and carried over to FTR.... so can someone repost the sequence of events. I'm not trying to save Dranger, I'm just interested in how it went down. He's only the 2st poster that I know of being banned.

Since spoon wants to give everyone a half story of what happened I'll fill in the blanks.

2008-Early 2009: I join FTR, meet spoon, start learning pokers all is well.
Mid 2009-Late 2009: I'm at boot camp and subsequently get kicked out of the military. (If you don't know the story behind this, ask someone else)
Around this time (probably November?) spoon starts his 'lets see how much we can fuck with dranger til he snaps' campaign.
Pretty much his only objective was to piss me off by any means necessary. And since he has mod powers on #flopturnriver he could basically do w/e the fuck he wanted with no repercussions. Ask BooG and kiwi, they loved the e-drama that ensued.
So he's been kicking me for no reason, trolling the shit out of me, banning me randomly from IRC, etc over the last ~6 months. That was fine and all, I mean I could put up with that as annoying as it was. Then I started getting pretty heavily into weed and shit and that just added fuel to his, and what looks like most of FTRs fire to fuck with me. W/e still fine.

Then, two days ago, some random fish, brokenriff, is in IRC and he posted a hand in which he 3bet a person who he had no history with with a bad hand in a worse spot. I was explaining why this was wrong and how flatting pre or folding would be much better and spoon hops in, says I'm retarded for saying flatting/folding is better then subsequently kicks and bans me for no reason other than he felt like it, as usual. Philly informed me shortly after that spoon went some equations with brokenriff and *gasp* decided that flatting or folding would have been a better option than 3-betting in the first place.

Now, if you want to bust my balls about smoking pot, fine. If you want to get on my case about being lazy and getting kicked out of the military, cool. I really wouldnt care because thats your opinion and I'm not gonna raise a big stink about it. But if you're going to fucking sit there and harass me for 6+ months about these things, then turn around and kick/ban me from the IRC channel you created to talk about poker for no other reason than I was talking about poker. And then get pissed off at me and go crying to the FTR admins because I trolled you in a few threads and then flamed you in one in the BC and I get banned. Get over yourself you egotistical douchebag. You would think being 25 years old you would be slightly more mature. Too bad thats not the case.
