I've finally been playing some great poker. Maybe as good as I can play (consistently). I am really happy with how I am thinking and playing.

Unfortunately I am not winning any money. I am a getting coolered a lot still, and also getting sucked out on, and also consistently getting it in good, and also TYING FOR AT LEAST TWO ALLIN POTS EACH DAY WTF?!?!?!?! I am at least sure that Im running like shit and not playing that way.

    BR: $1620

    My banner is wrong.

BR is like $1700 or something. I thought I hit 2K but was wrong, and am down 4buy-ins since then. I'm trying to get in more hands (1,500 a day hopefully) and that's leading to more variance. I made some spewy plays today. Lost 2 buy-ins b/c of it. Lost a 3rd on a sss board where my vill called a 3bet w/As8s...gg/gn. Things just aren't working well. I am not beating FR as well as I should. Like 5bbs/100. 50NL 6max has been a coolerfest, where literally I have 10 coolers for stacks in 4K hands.

I feel like I'm running in circles.

WTF who is reading this thread! LOL, just kidding.

Understand that you dont like Sir P, and I am with you on that one. Keep your chin up and dont just fold. You need to be very lucky just to break even if you fold all hands.

Maybe check/raising to 3500 would be a better approach?

I'm trying not to be frustrated and all, but I have lost 15 buy-ins to coolers in my first 25K hands of 50NL. That's $750 (BR is 1700). That means I would have had to Take that and a lack of hands played (meaning little RB) and it's essentially impossible for me to get any-fucking-where with my playing when all I play is FR and 6M and I literally lose all of my winnings to coolers.

    So, 50NL: 25K hands played, -70bbs net.

Okay I'm back ya'll. Ran well this week, and am now beating 50NL for 3.5ptbb/100 over 30K+. BR is $2600 and I'm about to earn $75-100 in mid-year bonus from FTP, I have another $600 bonus to earn that will buy me a PC, I earn $100 a week in RB, and I'll hopefully be back on Stars in August with my new PC....

    at $100NL.

    Wish me luck!

I can play soooo bad sometimes it's not even funny. I have a lot of hands to post tomorrow, so you guys can let me know how much of a donk I am!

I'm earning my $100 Mid-Year bonus from FTP (40% complete in 1.5 days so...haha.) and then I start on my larger bonus. Played like shiiiiit today. Just terrible. Stacked off light TWICE.

I made a recovery later after spewing off alot. Another hand I couldn't find but I had AA and misplayed ever single street and allowed the villain to play perfectly.

H1: I don't like the overbet shove. I raise smaller, let villain make mistakes.
H2: If villain is a huge donk I probably just stackoff due to the wacky draws/underpairs/air I've seen show up on turns like this in my experience.

H3: Nice fold. If this guy is weaktight and he's overshoving flop he always has a set. Obviously look up a maniac though.
H4: I don't think I would go for 3 streets into both these guys. Check to induce.
H5: I dunno what your reads are but lol
H6: Essentially, this is one of those weird spots where we aren't betting for value (worse hands don't call) or a bluff (better hands don't fold), but rather 'protection' I guess...had a huge conversation about this with stax, let me know if you want to discuss the situation in detail. Due to your position I think this is probably the most effective play.
H7: I dunno I need reads - edit: oh half stack/dead money etc, probably fine.

Played some Capped 6M and normal, ran unbelievably bad on the capped tables, losing four 30BB all-ins with at least 70% equity on the flop (and 3 of them with 80%+ equity) so that was chuckle-worthy. Won a stack at the normal tables but lost a bunch of tiny pots to end down a buy-in rather than up two. It was really fun though so I'll do the capped shit again.

So I took my first shot at 100NL today. Plus $1.5 buy-ins in 400 hands. WATWAT! It was the same, tbh. Absolutely the same.

Lol then I had to withdraw $1600 from my roll to pay for my gf's computer, which was the whole point of me playing online poker seriously in the first place. Kinda a milestone for me. Only $200 of it is actually coming from my roll, but it's easier for me to pay for it this way. So I'll be back at 50NL for a few weeks, earning my PC bonus money and RB and then probably moving to a new site to bonus whore at 100NL.

    Go me!

I've been playing poorly my last few sessions, and running average. A better player would be winning a lot more than I am just by folding in obvious spots and stealing in obvious spots. There are times where I think to myself "I could triple barrel here" and don't do it, and the villain almost always shows down a marginal hand.

I'm just not good at this game yet and I have to do something about it. I'm going to post more in the FR forum because those guys are good at what they do. I have no way to analyze my postflop play easily because my tracking program (Poker Copilot) is mostly just a more accurate PTR. I dunno but I might be having my "I'm just not that good" moment, which is good I guess. It bums me out a little but all I can do about it is study more and be confident I'm playing in the correct conditions. I spend a lot of time in the IRC which is great, but most of it is not poker-related which needs to change imo.

Oh and the support line for Rakebackpros is atrocious.

1600$ for a computer??????? what was it gold plated. seriously , I built my Quad machine for about £400 or could have put a good gaming graphics card in for about £500 which translates at about $800.

Ow that hurt. 500 hands, -3.5 buy-ins. Lost two stacks vs. villains w/combo draws that hit on the river, a few other smaller coolers and some bad play. I stopped before things got too bad.

Edit: 1000 hands, - 4.5 buyins. I got cold4bet from the BB w/KK otb. Guy had a 3bet% of 9 so it seemed he was aggressive. He obv has AA every time. He then proceeded to say it was an easy fold for me. I then proceeded to check his PTR and he's got 8K hands at 50NL, one his biggest pots won being a suckout w/KK when he called a 6bet allin preflop (as though someone 6bets w/QQ or AK) w KK>AA and when he called a 4bet OOP w/AJo. Sigh. Today, in total, I'm only down 3 buyins bc I was up 1.5 from this morning, but it still kinda sucks. One more session tonight, which is technically tomorrow morning.

I really don't want to whine here, and I don't need to. Standard negative variance .

So I'll talk about something that's very important: Goals. Here are some short term and long term ones.

This week: Play minimally, enough for Ironman but I'm moreso looking to get a lot of studying done this week.

This month: Clear a significant portion of $600 in bonus so I can finish it off next month, buy a PC and begin bonus whoring. I'm going to bonus whore because I cannot make Supernova on PokerStars this year, so I don't have any point in playing there.

This year: End the year with a 10K BR. This pretty much involves me playing 10K hands a week for the last 5 months and doing well at my stakes. ~3ptbb at 50 and 1.5 ptbbs at 100NL.

One year from today: Be a SuperNova on Pstars (assuming they DON'T change the VPP process for FR) and have a 20K BR.

Illfavor I like your goals and the fact you know you have to study. Damn I wish I would balance my time playing with studying better. I tend to think I have limited time so I better get some hands in=Fail if no balanced with studying!

Harley it's a simple matter really. Just don't play as much . Next time you're going to play, look at your graph and realize that studying will make you more money in that hour or w/e than struggling at a game you recognize you should be able to beat!

So I was going to post a bad beat hand, but then thought "Well wtf good will that do? *delete*"

I'm so sick of seeing graphs, people complaining about All-In EV and negative variance in general (and I don't just mean on FTR). Unless you're on a 50K+ hand/15+ buy-in, downswing I've never felt like there was much to complain about. I looked at a graph of my last seven days today. I saw that at one point I was down eight buy-ins in 2K hands. I never noticed this while playing at all, and continued to play as well as I could as a result. I had lost $400 in about 4 sessions of 50NL and had no effing clue. (that's about 1/4 of what I have online currently)

It's pretty much that easy guys. Just don't look at the goddamn graphs unless you're studying, in which case it still isn't important.

Study well, play well! (those are listed in order of importance, imo)

Poker is going well. I am focused. I am playing with thought. I am not being results oriented in the least. My online bankroll is $2100 (after withdrawing down to 1600 two weeks ago) and I have nearly $1200 of real life money that I am being refunded in various ways that I happily get to return to my BR. Once that's in I will probably purchase my PC before I clear the $600 bonus fully just in case my Macbook craps out before the end of August. I should be back at 100NL by mid August if everything goes mostly okay.

Daven, I guess I just have the benefit of not having a tracking program that tells that specific information. I've had huge stretches of BE poker in my career and nothing else to blame but myself, so when I see people talking about AIEV all the time I can't possible understand how it would benefit them that much as a player.

I was really just saying this http://www.flopturnriver.com/phpBB2/...nt-t87577.html before you said it

    Thanks AFChung.

Took second in a $4.40 180 man Donkament. Played pretty meh HU and stationed off a lot of chips then got it all-in as a 5-1 favorite and lost, which was interesting because I was completely indifferent to the bad beat. I just didn't care. Thanks to M2M for helping once I got to the FT! These tournies are LOLeasy to cash, but they take so much time I'm not sure how worthwhile they are for me. But I'll take the $140 BR boost w/o complaining. They kinda seems like a super easy way for someone with ~$600 roll to make a lot of money if they have the time!

I have like $180 on Stars and $2100 on FTP and ~$1100 irl money that's get getting returned to me from the computer purchase, so the BR is looking alright. As long as it's 7x what it is a year from now I'll be happy

Played 300 hands of HU and played bad + coolered nicely.

Shall we prop? I'm moving up at $10k, and my current BR is $4k. If you can do it before December, you'll probably beat me. School's started and I can't really play many hands a day anymore.

    Some short goals:

-Clear my $200 in "Biggest Bonus Ever" from FTP at 50NL FR the next two weeks.
-After that, split my time evenly between 50NL HU and 100NLFR.
-After around 10K hands of each, gauge my growth and more than likely play predominantly 50NLHU for 50K hands or so. If by the time I am done I have reached a>5K BR, consider moving up.

I pretty much only have 90 minutes a day Mon.-Thurs. to play poker. I've decided to focus solely on HU after I clear the last half of this bonus in the next three days. I have the buy-ins to play terrible and learn at 50NLHU, because I want to be one of the best at this.

Like, I really want to be one of the best HU players on FTR. It will take a lot of work, and I'll need a lot of luck and help, but I'm willing to take my lumps in order to be great at this game.

*Edit*: I am 100% serious about this. I hope a change in attitude becomes evident. I want to do this.

Had a nifty 3 buyin day (1.5HU and FR each). I beat 50NL FR for 4ptbbs in August, but dropped 10buyins HU. I'm pretty much extremely spewy HU currently, which sucks, but I'm working to change that. So much of it is just waiting for the cards to fall your way and I just get impatient 300 hands in and I'm down a stack to the loose idiot who c/r's bottom pair and I can't hit anything. Anyhoo, life is good. HU is fun and interesting, and FR is mind-bogglingly slow and easy.
    Ich grolle nicht...
  68. #218
HU variance is something I'm learning to deal with. I have a tiny sample size, but so far the format is kicking my ass. Being down 7 buyins in 5K hands really doesn't mean anything but I'm mostly positive I'm playing terribly too. I think it's time for some intensive HH review later today.
    Ich grolle nicht...
  69. #219
I just played a HU "regular" for like 100 hands. He flopped quads twice in 3bet pots and I just went ballistic. Only lost those two buyins but omfgwtfquads. He was super aggressive and I just waited for my spots and when I picked them he had quads so I couldn't do much. His style was unbelievable exploitable assuming I ever get hands/flop good spots. I also only flopped top pair once in those 100 hands (he had quads)

But we're not talkin' jyms-level tilt here.

It's understandable now that I seem to have become some running joke in IRC. Unfortunately most of the IRC micro donk regs think they are moving forward and learning something by being there but what they are learning is how to waste a ton of time and think they are getting better. Most, I said most, IRC regs have been there for long enough that if they could have any honest thoughts within themselves they would see that they are just part of a clique with intentions of bringing others down and not really helping themselves. I am perfectly fine with them all taking there shots but I just want you guys to know, I do see them. Don't ever think I forget, and keep your head up.
  72. #222
I would also like to say with my mod powers I could delete any of these posts oir threads at any time and they would never be seen again, not even by the admins. There is no restore button.
  73. #223
    jyms,

There was a more lengthy apology here, but after further thought, my reactions are more mixed. You threatening my threads with deletion doesn't really mean anything. If you think that's appropriate then that's fine, but we can bring it up with someone else if need be. If you want to go and delete threads where people said something derisive about yourself, then go ahead and do it, but realistically you doing such a thing would be an egregious abuse of power, and really the suggestion of it really doesn't correspond to my image of a person given such authority. While I acknowledge that what I said was wrong, and the inappropriate way to treat another human being, you did very little suggest that it was an inaccurate qualification. Do whatever you need to in order to feel comfortable with this situation. I'd like for this to not get too out of line and lead to any serious consequences here in this great internet poker community.
    Ich grolle nicht...
  74. #224
I was just pointing out a fact. I have no intention of deleting any threads, I haven't in the past nor in the future. I just figured I would let you know that I could. You guys may continue with your little soap opera that is the IRC and all have a little laugh, but do us a favor and keep your grade 5 childish games out of FTR and stick to what you are trying to do and that is to get better and fold to $10K. Last I checked I never spoke in this thread but I sure as hell noticed my name dropped in a reference meant to cause a stir. If you didn't want to play the game then don't.
