    Default Operation Reload

Ok, this is goign to be my new operation thread. I kind of let my other one die but i hope not to do that for this one. The reason im making a new thread is because im making the transition from sngs/mtts to playing almost exclusively cash games.

Right now my bankroll is around 3800 and im 4 tabling 100NL full ring. My immediate goals for ring are to move up to 8 tables shortly and then make the move to six max when i feel comfortable with my game. I just recently purchased a subscription to cardrunners which i feel has already improved my game after only watching 6-7 videos. Longer term goals are to be playing 400NL and profit 10k by the end of summer, but im going to take it one step at a time.

So now ill keep you guys updated on my progress by posting hand histories, thoughts, etc and look forward to feedback.

My read on villain was that he had a J and that he would probly stack off with it, especially once he hit trips. Yay for him stacking off... [/endrant]

the first few hands seemed bad.

    #1-dump on fop
#2-dump on flop, what could you be ahead of. AA overpair aint the nutz
    #3 is horrible without reads

TT i dont like second barrelling a non scare card
Jman: every time the action is to you, it's an opportunity for you to make the perfect play.
  4. #4
I agree hand one was terrible

Hand 2 the guy that reraised was a 50/9/2 and was an absolutely terrible player. He had been raising and calling raises with any sort of a hand i knew i was way ahead of his range. The first guy to move all in i put on an overpair to the board or a draw, which i also was ahead of.

Why is hand 3 so terrible? Both players bought in short and are limp calling. His minraise doesnt really show any strength to me and i think im flipping at worse and getting alot of calls from hands i dominate.

What do you consider a scare card in the TT hand? Any scare card (A,K,Q) are all likely to have hit his hand. It wasnt really a double barrel bluff because i put him on AK/AQ
  5. #5
yu didnt put up the reads. i misread AK hand thinking everyone had a fullstack (im just not playing with a fulldeck).

TT hand you figure yu are value betting then? is he likely to call your raise with A high?
Jman: every time the action is to you, it's an opportunity for you to make the perfect play.
  6. #6
Its not really a value bet because im looking for a fold here because if he call (or reraises) i have to shutdown i think and that gives him an opportunity to steal the pot on the river. I made a smallish bet on the turn to make my hand look alot stronger. Its possible he also had something like 88,99 as well but thats less likely. I think i need to bet the turn though because check raising and then checking the turn just screams weakness and that i was just making a play and give him the opportunity to steal the pot away.

It may not have been the best line and may have been a higher variance play than just leading out the flop. If i lead out the flop i assume he calls there as well and then i would have to decide whether to second barrel or not, but i think it would be harder to in that spot.

You're so bad it's funny. Seriously tho, why aren't you sticking to tourneys and SNG's? I don't like all of that aggression at Full Ring unless you against proven postflop nits.

I get my internet up in my new place in a week (Im on at work) so I'll come berate you in Vent. Until then, keep sucking.
  8. #8
hmm could there be a case for a RR PF since this is pretty much how you have to play this hand postflop.

I dont really like rr out of position like this because i feel he was likely to call and id be in a tougher spot on the flop with a bigger pot. This was a good flop for me because AQ/AK are more holdings and i could rep having AJ here. His flop bet also seemed large to me to have hit that flop very hard and that was mostly the reason i c/r him and lead the turn on a safe card. I think if the board has an A,K,or Q i just let him have it as im playing for set value then.

Sigh. Right now I just have my roll on UB. About $1200 if you wanna take it. I haven't played poker in forever but I plan on grinding my ass off when I get my internet up and running. Im going to set up Epassporte and move some money over to the AP skins for their bonus/rb.

I think a best of 5 HU SNG matches would be fun. PL Omaha Hi/Lo?

I only have like $25 left on AP now. Why dont you put some money on FT and clear their bonus? Im doing that now and its clearing pretty fast, plus ill have rakeback when thats done. FT you can also deposit with a credit card, so no fees.

Well I've deposited on FT before with Neteller but I didn't have RB. Im a little worried about depositing with the same name but different address/method because my name is unique and I don't want the account shut down.

FWIW, Goat, Im not sure whether to take you seriously or not, but since I do in fact suck at poker lately I have to think you're being serious. It's tough when someone else comes in on the inside jokes, never quite sure where they're coming from.
  18. #18
    Never take goat serious.

Get your 'net" up and get back in Vent. As for moving money let me knowI may need to dump about $500 from AP as well because I have Vegas poker(AP skin) with bonus as well. I don't have any bonus on AP so why bother when I get to play the same tables.

Time Warner doesn't come until next Monday (they suck) and my neighbors don't seem to want to leave their wireless unportected so I am SOL without cable/internet for a week. Im using the time to watch my entire DVD library and read some poker books.

We've really gotten offtopic in this thread. Quick rolla, post an interesting FR hand in which you limp/call with set odds and c/f 7 out of 8 flops.

What's worse is when you've think you've thoroughly cooked the damned things only to bite into a cold middle.

They are so damn good tho when prepared properly. Maybe we should ask Flomo how to cook a HotPocket.

2:25 is the perfect time for hotpockets. Ive probly eaten thousands of these things.

One hand i always seem to never know how to play is AQ from the sb/bb to a utg/middle position raiser that is fairly tight, something like a 14/7 and a high cbet %. Thoughts on this situation?
  32. #32
Tonite was a pretty good nite, won $240 in 714 hands, running a 16.89 ptbb/100. Did this even running KK into AA for a 160bb pot. Ill post some hh from tonite later.
  33. #33
yeah that QQ was an easy laydown since opp has a PFR% of 4 and given ver 850 hands thats a good stat to work with.

TT i guess depends on reads but i dont usually still put a villian on AK,AQ after they call a c/b and missed flop
Jman: every time the action is to you, it's an opportunity for you to make the perfect play.
  34. #34
Last nite i didnt play that much, only 240 hands or so. Lost $2.70, made more in bonus, meh. I stacked to people and then got stacked twice, running 55 on a AA5 flop into quad aces (boooo!!) and then on another hand. The only really interesting hand i had was a TT hand on all under, i posted it in the hand history thread but ill post it here as well. I also stacked AK on a A67 board when i called pf with 67s (yay!!) and stacked a pair of jacks with a set of 8s.

Havnt played many hands with villain, but has been pretty loose from what ive seen. Stats over 46 hands are 35/22/1.5 with a 4 flop AF.

Oh ya im going to the Soaring Eagle casino in the middle of michigan today too to play some 1/2nl. Its a $100 max buyin but if you have less then $50 you can buy in for another 100, so ill be sitting with $150. Im only taking $300 to play with tho so i dont destroy my roll. The games there are really soft though so hopefully i come back with a few million dollars.

    Hows everything look?

You could 8table with those stats.

I think you need to fold ATo to the 3bet PF or just fold to the flop bet in the first hand. As played don't you have to apply pressure to a stubborn QQ/JJ?

    Ham&Cheese FTW BTW

I took my stab at it with the reraise on the flop so i assumed he had a piece of it and wasnt going anwhere. For some reason i felt he was weak, i was wrong obv.

    Trip Report

We got to the casino at about 9:00pm after getting lost 8 times on the way there due to there being no civilization and cell phone towers for my friends phones gps in michigan Once we got there we had to wait for about an hour-hour and a half for them to open up a new table even though there were 25 people on the waiting list.

Once we got on the table i sat tight, and in the second half hour i pick up KK in mp. My friend seated to my right opens up for 10 and i make it 40. Guy on the button calls with like 30 behind. I just put him all in blind and he calls the flop and flips over AJ. GG him.

After that hand i proceed to not play a hand for 3 1/2 hours besides a couple pocket pairs where i would call a $7 raise which would then get reraised behind me and i felt i needed to call since there were like 3 callers to the reraise everytime. So i bled off some chips doing that. We then take a 1/2 hour break and im down $48 (i counted). I come back and make a play with TT on a QKx board to a guy that obv didnt have anything.

One hand that really pissed me off that nite:
I get 44 in mp and i limp in and theres a few callers behind me.
    Flop: AA4
it checks to me and i check as does everyone behind me.
    Turn: 3
It checks to me and i bet maybe 10 into the pot, around a pot size bet and a guy in mp calls, everyone else folded
    River: 6
He checks to me and the pot is around 25-30 and i make it 25 and the guy just calls

He flips over 33.... How the fuck does this guy check call a turned boat!?!?!?! He had about $100 behind which i felt should have all gotten into the pot, i was pissed.

So anyways i build my stack to around $250 (bought in for $150, was down $50 before break so no im up about $50). Our table breaks up and me and my buddy wait for a couple seats to open up. We sit at a table where everyone half the table has pretty deep stack. Guy immediately to my left has ~$1400 and theres a few other stacks between $300 and $600. This was a nice change from the other table where everyone was like $100 or less.

I sit tight for the first half hour and the second half hour at the table i pick up KK utg. I make it $15 and the bb ($1400 stack guy) calls and checks in the dark.

    Flop comes: KT7 rainbow
He checked in the dark so i fire out a $20 bet, obviously leveling him because he knows that im going to fire at any pot when checked to in the dark. He calls
    Turn: 9
He checked in the dark again and i put out a $50 bet and he again calls after a little hesitation.
River: 6, not completing any flush draws or straight draws i could put him on

He checks again and i push all in for my remaining $157 or so chips. He thinks for a long time before he folds, probly 5 min at least. He told me he had 9T, big laydown from the play i have seen that nite.

Last hand of the nite, my stacks around $350 (+150 for the day) and i decide to get cute with J9o. Were shorthanded now at the table at UTG raises, which he has been raising really light. I call 10 on the button looking to take the pot away if its a good board.

    Flop comes K44

Pretty good flop for me, its unlikely he hit anything here. He puts out a $15 which really doesnt mean anything. I call looking to steal the pot on the turn

    Turn: A

I think this is a really good card to come that i can represent if he has an underpair which i think is a prettly likely scenario, the really liked his middle pairs.

He checks to me and I make it $35, and he then makes it $100. I fold obv, and he shows aces full. Awesome.

So besided the last hand i felt i played pretty well and ended up +$85 or so at the end of the nite which i think was pretty good being how card dead i was the first 3 1/2 hours. We played there for about 6-7 hours, i had fun, so id say it was a pretty good trip. Right now im going of of about 5 hours total sleep in the past 56 hours (lots of energy drinks and caffeine at the casino and on the ride back) so i should probly get some sleep soon.

Going to the casino again for 3 days this time. Hopefully i run well and can cash in all my sklansky bucks.
  48. #48
I suck at the casino. Last time I played I lost a $600 pot. A guy opened to $7 UTG and I 3bet to $50 with AKs. He calls.

The flop come KQT. I make it $100. He calls. Turn is a blank. I push for $150, he calls. River Ace and his QJo is good.

Sigh. I thought he just had JJ but QJ was the same hand. But, they will put a lot of money in the pot with mediocre holdings, you just have to hold up and then it gets fun cuz you get to play deep against some really bad players.

    Full Trip Report

    Sat:

We get to the casino around 4:30 and get on the tables pretty quickly since we called ahead to get on the waiting list. Guy on my table, well call him "hippie guy" for now as hell come into play later has a pretty big stack, maybe around $1000. I double up off of him within the first few hours i was at the table with AT on a T high board to his flush draw for about a $400 pot. A couple hours later theres some people involved in a hand which i was not i get deja vu and its like ive already seen this exact hand and all the players in it play out already. The very next hand i get 44 in lp and its raised to $10 in ep with about 6 other callers in front of me so i call. Flop comes QQ2 and someone fires out another $10 bet and theres 5 callers in front of me. I call because for some reason i have a feeling about the hand (i never get feelings about hands so it was kind of wierd) and i turn a 4. On the turn someone raises $15 and hippie guy raises to $120. It gets to me and i shove all in for about $300ish total. He thinks for awhile and calls and i ship a $750 pot. He said he had a Q, he probly did. I get my stack to about a grand after being in for $150 and we call it a nite around 2:30 am. +858 for the day.

    Sun:

I run really shitty on sunday and donk off a stack with tp against a guy who hit two pair on the river. I then dont play any hands for several hours and finally get QQ and win about a $200 pot. It was extremely frustrating because the table was so bad and i couldnt ever pick up a hand, along with the fact that we had two fucking ratholers that took about $1800 off the table after playing about 2 hours each where if they would have stuck around long enough they would for sure go busto.

There was one half an hour session that made the weekend completely worth it. Guy on the table who were going to call "ATM" or "Two pair runner runner suckout river rat" as he was nicknamed at the table was there for most of the day with us. His stats if i were to guess were about 95/2 with a 85% cold calling and he hit every fucking hand he played and runner runnered the rest. Hippie guy from friday is on my right, ATM 3 to his right.

    Setup hand to drama:
Hippie guy turns a straight on the turn also giving ATM two pair. The get it all in on the turn and on the river ATM fills up. Hippie guy is extremely pissed and is berating the guy nonstop.

    VERY NEXT HAND:
ATM raises it up to $15, hippie guy immediately reraises to $50. Girl behind him whos not really important just calls. It gets back to ATM and he reraises to $100 and Hippie guy goes all in. I wasnt really sure what to put hippie guy on because i didnt know if this was just tilt coming through or what. Girl behind hippie calls and ATM thinks about it and says he has to call.

Now us three (Me, mgoblue, and shippy_ship) being obnoxious at the table convince the dealer to make them roll their cards pf. (The dealer was fucking really tight) ATM shows AK, Hippie guy shows KK and girl behind shows AJ sooooted. Hippie guy then begins to talk shit about how bad his call was and how he was taking all of his money. Us still being obnoxious we convice the dealer to lag the flop and he complies.

Dealer begins to deal the flop and extremely slowly turns the cards over, with a slight smirk. Next thing i hear from hippie, "ACE IN THE FUCKING WINDOW! EVERY GOD DAMN TIME!!" along with slamming his chips into the pot and almost nailing his wife in the face upon getting up. Dealer then takes at least 30 seconds to deal turn and river which were both blanks, and hippie guy storms off.

About 5 minutes later hippie guy comes back, leans right into ATMs face and says "If you think your so good why dont we step outside and settle this like real men." ATM: "I never said i was good, im just playin cards" Hippie: Well if you think your so God damn good why dont we go heads up right now right over there!"

Hippie guy eventually leave and he never comes back. This was by far the highlight of my weekend. We then later got ATM to say Ship it Crucial after runner runner on somebody for probly a $300 pot. (he was pretty old). Also his name was ATM because he was drunk and donated at least $700 to the table by the end of the nite.

I end up about +60 for the day after a 14 hours session, pretty disapointing given all the potential at the table.

    Sun:

Another really disapointing day. I get some hands early on and get my stack to around $200 where i then stack off with AK on a K64 rainbow board to pocket sixes. I rebuy, get my stack to about $250 and then just bleed off another $100 after i dont catch any real hand or hit any flops.

    -$200 for the day.

After hotel and gas and food i ended up +$600 for the 3 day weekend, which was pretty disapointing after my first day.
