last night was a success in pretty much every aspect.

grinded today, was up close to 1k for a while, played great, ran bad at the end to end up +500.

at least the ship feels more steady now. back at it tomorrow.

HEM wasn t working perfectly for some reason and didn t tally 250 in profits, so +750 for the day in cash. still alive, getting deep in an NL Omaha tourney, hopefully it s bink time.

    ok here goes.

i have 1 single goal this week : wake up every day at 8 am. if i can do that, everything will fall into place.

how fucking hard can it be?

apparently really hard. i ve tried doing this like 10 times since i was really sick last spring and never been able to.

It's really hard for me too I have this dream of being able to start at 8 am every day because then I could play a sick donkament schedule, but that means being able to get out of bed between 7 and 7:30 every morning. That's a pipe dream right there...

I can't even start at 9 am every day, nevermind 8 am. Sighhhh

So why is it hard for you guys to wake up at 8am?

Is it cause you go to bed too late, or don't get enough sleep when you actually do go to bed?

you shut the alarm off when its going off? hmmm

I'm a morning person, so I'm on the opposite end. don't know how people stay up so late!

since i had mono, my body s tolerance for going without sleep is just shot. if i push myself to wake up early one day, i almost almost feel like i m getting sick if i attempt the same thing the morning after.

of course, living a lifestyle where i m pretty much never forced to wake up early combined with the fact that my appetite for pushing myself through disciplined suffering has all but disappeared over the past couple years makes it just such a long shot that i ll push myself into deep exhaustion 3 or 4 days in a row...

that being said, 7:57 am and guess who s out of bed.

well, can t complain about my productivity today, been going pretty much 15 hours straight, put in a long session (almost 4 hours) where i was running terribly and playing meh but hung in there and brought it all the way back to +400 then got KK into AA deep to finish off the session break even

felt extremely calm, comfortable and confident after the 1st shaky hour or so.

    phew.

up at 8 am 2 days in a row? ONE TIME DEALER

Wow.. I mean.. that must be the worst suckout possible... like literally, I think that must be it? perfect perfect with the only two cards in the deck?

Actually no thats not true, cause he can run 5/6 turn and then 5/6 river. Running 8 8 vs 88 would be the worst possibly.

the big push i made last night leaves me feeling a little indulgent in the face of my usual reluctance to grind. have had a terribly productive day - pre poker - and am now gonna go do some hard core database studying in an attempt to get ahead of the curve playing various mediocre regs at nl200. whether i grind or not remains to be seen, but hopefully 4 or 5 hours of studying will pay dividens down the line. prob fire up some donkaments regardless...

  17. #242
long study session last night - was actually kind of fun. got some pretty great reads on a few regs that always seem to be playing.

after that was over, instead of passing out i played a few donkaments on stars, +260ish.

the big news though is that i m 3 for 3 so far, including an impressive 7:15 am wakeup this morning. hopefully i don't crash and can put in a sick session this afternoon. 1.5k hands mixed between NL200 and PLO100 would be good.

i m pretty attached to my slightly annoying cellphone alarm

played 1k hands, played kind of meh, ran kind of decent, lost about 250 but made most of it back playing qualifiers on stars.

    just gotta grind more though.

My constant attempts at motivating myself probably seem absurd, futile and hysterical, but here goes another one :

lots of non-poker stuff happening today so gonna attempt to put in 8k hands between friday and sunday, which should get me right back on track for my mini-op that ends Feb 10. my strategy will be to attempt 2 2hr sessions of cash on fri, culminating in a cash + donkament bonanza starting around 7 or 8 pm. wash, rinse, repeat on saturday which should get me to about 6.5k hands.

then sunday will be a ton of donkaments (including a high-roller event i bought into with poker points).

here goes mini operation within slightly larger operation within meta operation pay-back-some-debts.

    it s like inception!

  24. #249
if anybody is interested in a free rail between friday and sunday, send me a PM and we ll set things up. i have a terrible time getting myself motivated unless somebody else is involved.

fwiw it might be worth your time if you re working on NL or - probably even better if results mean anything - transitioning from NL to PLO.

session 1 is in the books. played pretty well i think, ran kind of terribly, lost maybe 70$ or so in 2 hours. toughest hand was this i think, villain is pretty bad just based on seeing him limp a bit pre and not show much aggression :

pretty disgusted, finished a pretty long 2nd session, down 700, so down about 750 on the day.

there s only 1 hand that i think was questionable but i really like the way i played it in hindsight.

things are just so fragile right now that i can t afford to have 2 or 3 more of these days where i play well run meh and lose a few buyins. going back down to nl100 would be so fking soul-crushing...

all the same, gotta be happy with how much i grinded so far. gonna fire up some donkaments with a buddy and get going for a night unstucko session.

grinded some amazing PLO tables while firing up a few donkaments, continued to run gross and play really good.

results for the day... one more of these and it s back to NL100 i think:

so since entering my op within an op within an op i m right on schedule to hit my goal of grinding 60 hrs in the alloted time.

betfair has a promo beginning today and ending feb 21 so i m gonna reformulate my objective from now till then : 100 hours of grinding between now and the promo's conclusion. i ll try to 6-table plo 1-1 5 max for the 3 weeks of the promo and possibly bump things up to 8 tables as i get to know the regs and get more comfortable with the software.

    1 down, 99 to go!

good 2 hr session this morning. dropped 350ish but played well and i m amazed at the games, how easy the regs are to play and the big surprise is how incredible the rake is.

6 tabling for 2 hrs i just raked 160$... with rb deals, bonuses, profits and rake races, the sky is the fucking limit.
when the vpip's are high and the value bets are like razors, who can be safe?
  47. #272
what a wild session. was just over 7 bi under ev at one point, made a bit of a comeback to only drop 200ish, so -550 on the day.

what can i say though, i had a great time, lots of fun interesting hands to play and i m really happy with my performance in general. raking 350$ in just under 5 hrs of play is pretty fun, especially 6-tabling a game i enjoy.

    94 hrs to go.

you sure make consistent profit playing donkaments. do you only play small fields?

Yah seriously geni, why not switch over to mega donkament grind?

or is this more of that beloved question which we don't hear about.. "but how much did he lose?". Though it doesn't seem that way.

it s a good question. i started playing poker as a sit n go/donkament player and i ve def never felt like i didn t have a big edge in any donkament.

biggest concerns are lack of rakeback, lack of fun postflop play, long periods of meh variance (i guess you could say the same about cash) and inability to plan hours of grinding.

but ya i m prob up about 7k in lowstakes donkaments over the past 2.5 months without putting in much volume or playing anything above 30$ buyin. something to think about i suppose.

and ya i play mainly small fields with terrible players courtie. PLO lowstakes tourneys are particularly soft, i think i ve final tables one of the two stars sunday PLO tourneys 4 of the past 5 weeks.

89 hours to go after session 1 this morning.

ran a few buyins below ev and dropped about 350, opened up to 8 tables and tightened up a bit. i noticed my redline start going down as soon as i did that but i m not sure it s a terrible thing; generating more rake is always good and even if i m not killing the pots w out SD i m still probably making as much. more experimenting to come...

pretty disgusting session, down 8bi in 1k hands, ran a few bi under ev but that doesn t even begin to describe the grotesque ass-fucking i got from the deck, the fish, pretty much everything.

for now, time to lie around, read and have a great time.

plo hands take much longer but rake so much more. 6-8 tables is getting me about 500 hands per hour.

what a frustrating, exhausting day of poker. all in all 3.2k hands, down 6bi but really proud of my discipline and how i played and handled the swings.

right now it feels like variance is treating me about as badly as possible so i can t complain about the 6bi. i ran above ev but let s just say that that doesn t tell the story.

too tired to post hands but maybe tomorrow.

    71 hrs to go.
