That's a lot of working out, Ben. Just remember sometimes taking a day off is more constructive than working out sore (muscle recovery, etc).

Good, cause I was going to say that courtiebee may need to put limits on the amount of pages an OP could have. 13 should be enough for anyone to complete.

Not as bad as it sounds, the routine I'm on atm can be done basically daily, a workout is only about 15 mins long. Both those targets are on the low side of what I actually want to do, its more to ensure I dont stop going altogether.

Hand 2 - Given how multiway, turn has to be a lead. It doesn't matter if it turns your hand face up, lots of two pairs will call for sure. I just don't think this particular card is going to get bet very light, especially since the aggressor is OOP.
  14. #614
wait a fuckin second, in hand 2 did you just CALL his riv raise when he had money behind?????

OOPS sorry, I'm a tool. I thought you just had a straight, not a straight flush!

geeez.. my bad.. check is fine. Lead is ok to build pot though.

Hand 1: Sexy 3b size but I hate flop bet size. Every time I experiment with small cbets in 3bet pots I get burned, literally like every time. Also say you had bricked with AK, do you want to have to bet small to represent AA?

    Hand 2: ajskajdfldskjf;dlskdfjkjfljflkjflk;dj;aflkjaddfadf affffffffffffffffffuuuuuuuuuu

The worst part is the river minraise.

para - I change my lines vs. each villain. This dude was a spaz donkey so I thought betting small would induce air to raise plus keep in his overpairs. Basically, it was my way of keeping his whole range in there.

grif - yeah maybe leading turn is better. I was trying to decide

da gooooooat - yeah, villain was is a "reg" but sooooo nitty that it was a "sigh I call" hand

kettle - yeah that guy is horrible! he's like 16/13 over 5k hands or something

ship da 5 am post. I am getting coolered a lot which is obvioulsy unfortunate. KK is getting more demolished. I forgot who I saw write recently (gator?) that you should not be scared when an A hits but fuck me if I don't keep getting coolered to donks calling a shitload of money preflop with their Ax. BUT to be honest, gator is right. You really shouldn't worry as much as most do, it all depends on ranges. B/f is becoming a "sigh" for me because everytime I bet I do end up having to fold. What sucks is that I got fancy with a couple of hands because I thought it would gain me more EV but I ended up getting 3 outtered and crap. I have only gotten like 2 stacks in the past couple of days which is really frustrating. My sets 4-way are getting NO action. AA gets folds preflop and KK gets dominated post. QQ gets coolered, etc. What's cool is that I am fine with that. I'm also running poorly equity wise but what's new.

Anyways, I went from over 2 buyins down to like 1 buyin down and then went to a little less than 2 buyins. Then, GRIFFFFFFFFEY, being the nice ass person he is, sweated me and we played 2 tables at 100NL and was crushing it to begin with but then got really coolered in two hands and then 3 outtered in another to only win $4 there. It was interesting because he got me 3-betting a lot more preflop which seemed very effective. I kept targetting some dude and he folded everytime BUT this one guy 3-bet/5bet shoved on me every time I opened too which was no fun. His 3-bet stat was at 24% for awhile.

The end of this month has been a little disappointing. I think I am playing alright now but at one point I was playing like shit not thinking as hard about ranges. Once I got back on track I started running poorly and getting coolered so that kind of sucks but I know I was just hitting the top of their ranges so I can't really get mad.

If this was the same table, that makes it hard to decide whether to switch tables or not. If different tables (or times), then table select better!!

I like your point on ranges. We always talk ranges and our equity v's them, but sometimes we just run into the top of the range. Its not that we played bad, it just sucks that this time he had the part of his range we didnt want to see.

Down over 4 buyins today. I didn't hit shit and I never won a 3-bet pot I bluffed at postflop which were a lot. Lost a couple of coin flips/60% favorites. Did not hit any combo draws. Maybe hit 2 sets out of like 30 PP. Getting 3-bet a ton yay. Oh well, at night is when you actually make the good money, at least for me. But still not promising that my last like 4k hands I am losing a lot. Fuck me.

I'm still semi-sick and overdid some nyquil last night and I am still feeling so fucking groggy I can't think straight/missed class because of it. I need to make it a point to put every mother fucking on a fucking hand every time. I got owned to the top of people's ranges a lot too. Again, fuck me and my worthless life.

You know, one downside to a prop-bet for hands is that it makes you think you should play when you're really not in the right condition to do so. Sounds like your head really isnt where it should be, but you're trying to grind anyway. Dont do that man.

Put people on ranges, review later whether they were really valid ranges or wishful thinking ones. If they were valid and you ran into the top of their range, well that happens. It sucks, but it happens and we just need to accept it.

Take a night off, go watch a movie or hang out with friends or something.

Good points Ben. Appreciate all the comments. I already reviewed a few hands and seem to see that I tilted at least a buyin off and then if I add 2 coinflips I'd be up 5 buyins. Those are just the big pots too. I will need to look at 3bet pots. I think I NEED to make it a point to start posting more hands, especially the common situations that I have difficulties with.

Ok good news: I am doing well with my health side of the prop bet. I even ran 2.1 miles last night and plan/HOPE to tonight again. It felt good. I was actually able to job the whole time which was surprising since I don't really run but I do play sports often.

bad news: I'm running like a mother fucker and it's getting to my head big time. None of my bluffs work and my value hands are getting crushed. I'm down just over 3 buyins so far this month. So yay for it not being that bad but seriously fuck poker right now. Fuck my life to be honest. I am way down in the dumps about everything and fully plan on saying fuck you to everyone and everything except the closests of my friends and just getting away from my normal life somehow. Gmml sent me a link about being this guy blogging his time being homeless which seems interesting. I've always wanted to train hop too but that's way dangerous. Fuck it though. I'll probably end up travelling like 30 minutes one day and be like "omg i did it! i got away!" and then come straight home because that's me.

Most of these hands have huge reads so meh. I'm going to do some psychology warming up shit before each session I think. I tilt a lot.

A great line for that last hand is leading the turn. Nobody ever believes you and you'd ship it in there as a huge favorite. I don't get open limping with 52o. Start running better though!

I'm trying an experiment for the next 1k hands or so. Hopefully longer. I'm not sure when I'll get in these hands as I should be somewhat busy the next couple of days but I hope it works. I finished today up like $30 so meh. I was up nearly 2 buyins but f'ed up again.

Much love Mark! All good man. You need to make an updated blog though imo. Hopefully we can chat on AIM/MSN soon my man.

I haven't played much poker in the past few days. My life tilt has almost ended as I got an A on what I thought was going to be a hard test. I took another test and quiz so hopefully those will be at least a C but I think I just jinxed myself. I'm still doing pretty well with my props and am on pace (minus the # of hands as Ben and I stopped that part). I'm up like 2 buyins recently I guess. Been really busy lately. Still getting somewhat coolered too which is fine because I am still showing a profit. Gonna be a lonely valentines (sigh) but I'll still go out with a few friends I think. Not really sure what's going on, but I think my neighbor downstairs (girl but has a long distance boyfriend) is going to go out with me and find a party or something. She's really cool so it should be fun. And yeah I go to parties/bars a lot and don't drink, I'm weird I know.

I'm already thinking about prop bets for next month. Things I am thinking of is the same sort of soft drink/chips/workout thing. I think I need to add a "post X amount of HH with all my reads/thoughts" weekly or daily or whatever. I already made a prop with another real life friend that I cannot eat any cookies next month and she cannot drink soda and winner(s) get a free dinner at our favorite restaurant. I think I've lost like 5 pounds but I don't remember the last time I weighed myself besides recently. Down to 175 and trying to get to like 165 or maybe a tad lower.

Same shitttttt. Just lost AA < QQ. What you don't see are 2 hands where I lost coinflips preflop = another buyin of EV yay. For some reason I am not mad? The ONLY reason I feel tilted is that I am in a prop bet and of course this happens. Shit now I remember I wanted to go to Vegas and hang out with a few friends but each day I lose is another day of lost hope for that to happen.

    Here's my year graph

And yeah all I want is sympathy. How stupid is that? I'm learning a lot of shit though. I can feel a big run.

    I think that's fair!
Sometimes, it's so hard to keep playing with when we run so bad.
However, there is one thing that I learned end of last year is that the least we post about this the better it is for our mental health.

That does kinda suck. Your EV is way higher than mine, but my winnings so far is a fair bit higher than yours. Given I've now pulled out of two parts of the propbet, we can declare the last part null and void if you'd like. It was meant to be friendly competition, not adding to your stress .

Amen, Jimmy. I really think that's the truth. In fact, I know it's the truth but sometimes I just go crazy and cannot fathom why it's happening to me and only me (when in reality it's definitely not).

Ben - Been thinking about the prop bet. I mean I'm kind of stubborn and don't like getting out of promises so I'm still iffy on that. I kind of want to know how much you are up this month to see if I have a chance but that kind of sounds like cheating so I'm really confused on what to do. I also don't want to think too much longer because I could just play like shit and be like "ok, prop bet over!". Meh, I guess just call it off? . Maybe still do this for fun or something and have some other prize that doesn't involve money? I still want to make sure we are motivated with all of this stuff though because it sure as hell is helping me out, at least with the health stuff. I feel 10x better and have so much more energy/stamina.

I'm also up $39 in very minimal hands today. I also folded to a 2x pot bet on the river that I usually snap call with 3rd pair and lose all the time. Go me!

I like the idea of a non-cash prize. Lets go with that and we'll chat on msn/aim sometime over the next few days about what exactly. I'm guessing you're somewhere around +$70? I didnt play today so I'm not too much further ahead. +$220 over 3.3k hands so far for the month.

Ok so went to edit my last weekly update post to make it easier but clicked "submit" so now that whole post is gone. Ahhhhh.

Another weekly summary. Umm definitely some marginal play but I mean down over 3 buyins AGAIN for my weekly update. Another sigh. I am still trying out my nittiness and am liking it. I'm also cbetting somewhat differently. I really try to make each of my cbets +EV as opposed to just clicking "bet" on the flop. I either look for spots in which they'll fold enough giving me an immediate profit or in cases in which I have a good amount of equity + FE. Also I am up some monies from a different computer...I think that might be the $39? Any who, I'll get those transferred over sometime before the month.

    Hands: 3671

    # of Chips: 0

Again pleased with my prop bet awareness and effort. I admit to eating pretty unhealthy the past weekend due to no groceries but still have yet to eat chips or drink any soft drinks. Last week was torture school and life wise and I am glad it has ended and I feel a lot better. This week will be another tough school week which sucks. I played my intramural bball game today after losing by the slaughter rule last week. We slaughtered the other team this time. The half time score was fucking 36-0. NO points. Wtf? No offense, our team is pretty bad because we have a few weak links but we just destroyed this...ASIAN team. They were really nice and good sports and I feel kind of bad. They had 2 Asian fans that were female (and hot) and after the game they congratulated us which insta made me want to stay in the gym and try use my imaginary charm on them.

I'm in a Stress Management class and am really wanting to try out a bunch of techniques the book/teach suggests. Thinking about posting this stuff either here or on a blog outside of FTR. This should help with tilt issues I hope. But more importantly, it will help me cope with other stuff that stresses me out daily.

    Is this for real!?

4-way and you checked?? OMG I'm on tiltttt

I wouldn't mind a check here sometimes HU, but 4-way this really really has to be a bet. Even 3-way.

My original plan was to fold to a c/r on the river but I couldn't help but think this maniac hit a 9! Thoughts on my play here? I think I like everything but the river. This guy was a maniac though but only over a few hands. He was like 60/40 over 30 hands but not much about his postflop tendencies. B/F river std?
  48. #648
I check behind turn and b/f river. If I bet the turn I think checking behind river is better. Idk I'm still kind of a FR nit at 6max.

    EVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVV hah
    I'm sick of this game

I don't do anything school wise as in attend class or whatever just so I can play and I get fucked which then makes me play shitty. I don't know who I am reaching out for. All I know is that even if I want to quit this game I can't. I hate it.

I've figured out that I love making spewy plays not only to see if my reads were right but also because for some god forsaken reason I love the thrill of having pressure to regain my BR and once I get to its peak I actually feel lost so complete the cycle again. The only reason I do the prop bets to force me to get out of this thinking. It's kind of like health. I try not to exercise too much because I'm scared of being at my goal weight. It's like as long as I am not there I'll always have something to strive for.

I'm going to watch more stox vids on stress/tilt. I watched one and it related a lot to a few breathing exercises I have already been doing. Maybe I can post some exercises that might be relevent here on FTR.

Posting the exercises is probably a good idea.

You might just want to take a break for a week or so. Set a specific amount of time for you to stay away from poker and do it.
    Check out my self-deprecation here!

I think I had these problems quite a bit. Especially the bankroll sizing one, and feeling the pressure of playing solid once it drops down. I haven't played that much this month, but even when I have, I've been MUCH spewier than I had been the last several months, now that my roll is up again. Hmmm...if you actually have this noticable probably, then maybe you need to withdraw a LOT and you'll feel that pressure again.

lol kmind I hear you, except I don't hate poker. I miss a lot class and I'm pretty positive poker has something to do with it, but thats ok because I enlisted for the Marines, so maybe thats something you should think about . (Kidding obviously lol). Hopefully you get over this hump, man.

Haha I totally know what you're talking about. I love the feeling of locking in and knowing that you're playing brilliantly (relatively). Something about my psychology means it only happens when my BR is dipping though. I'm working on not even thinking about my BR while I play but it's tough.

GL man I know you love poker

same here, so easy for me to quit when I get up like 3-4 buyins early. I'll end up playing an 8 hour session if I get stuck 3-4 though

Ok it's late so I cannot thank you all individual for the response, so THANK YOU!

I decided not to play poker at all today and it felt great. But here's the new issue: This girl I have been sort of flirting with at a few parties goes to a different school (VA Tech...f dem hokies imo) and she's been writing on my wall saying she's coming this weekend etc. But, a little history, she's been "talking" with some other dude or so I thought so I never really thought that anything would happen. Well, today I get a text from our mutual girl friend saying literally "Dear Casey, just to let you know all my friends have crushes on you". This is sweet because like 4 hot girls come to mind. I ask for specifics and she only mentions this VA Tech girl (which is cool but also a sigh because there is one girl I really want). Anyways, I tell her "oh she seems pretty cool and is really good looking blah blah" and I head out to the party they are at.

I am very late and get pulled over ld0 going 22 over and having an expired inspection sticker of 4 months. I get off ld0. Anyways, I get there and notice she's upstairs (she being not downstairs = upstairs) so I start saying hello to my friends not to mention getting in somewhat good with the girl I really want. I decide to go upstairs knowing that only a few people will be there so it will be awkward/obvious why I am doing it. I see her right away on a bed so I sit next to her and just start bullshitting with everyone. Nothing really good/bad happens and I decide to leave back downstairs. Well the other dude that she is "talking" to is down there but he's pissed off for some reason and she comes down. He tries talking to her but she like insta mucks/leaves which makes me feel like she isn't actually into him. To make an even longer story short, I talk to her a little bit for the rest of the night, get in like A LITTLE bit of flirting and then everyone is ready to call it a night. Sucks that I got there late. I tell her I am going to leave and her friend who I sort of know is there so I give her a hi-five because a hug would probably be awkward which then makes it awkward to give the main girl a hug now so I only go in for a hi-five. She says "I'll see you tomorrow, goodnight" and that's it. I'm obviously thinking way too into this which is why I posting here but I feel like tonight could have gone SOOO much better but could have also been worse. Some excuses were that the dude I thought she was talking to was there, I was late (I had to be late due to other things) and that she was upstairs most of the time making it somewhat weird for me to go up and hang out with her and a few people I am not too comfortable talking to.

But here's the deal, we are hanging out tomorrow at another party. It starts at 2pm (haha). I do not drink so getting drunk and getting with her is not a viable response. She leaves back to VA Tech probably early Sunday and I doubt comes back for awhile. Do I text her, facebook inbox her, wait to see how tomorrow goes or what? I haven't been with a girl since this summer so I need this. How exactly would you approach her tomorrow given that the dude that likes her too is there, I will be sober and it will be hard to really isolate her in a room to talk or anything though I could probably make it happen?

I would avoid high 5's with girls you want to get with in the future. I dont have a lot beyond that.

    This^^^

And also, I've found that the "Hey lil girl, want some candy?" line works pretty well.

    Kidding obviously.

When you're talking to her, does it seem like she's interested? If she is then just ask to go outside or some shit and go for a walk (lame but who the fuck cares? ). Go in for the kill when you're alone.

If not, go for the chick you really like.

Other then that dude, idk what to tell ya. Get some imo.

Is there any way you can meet this girl NOT at the party where this other guy cramping your style is at?

Maybe suggest meeting up with her beforehand, instead of going to a party at 2pm?

Yeah see I was wondering if I should try to meet up with her before hand but meh.

dranger - yeah man she seems interested, she always has but I was like "dammit she is just friends since she's talking to that other guy". But now I think she def. likes me more than him. But about the walk thing, that's exactly what I usually do when trying to get with girls but it's so cold I know she won't do it. Winter sucks.

Ben - good suggestion! haha. But yeah it was just a weird situation in which I didn't want to make it more awkward by giving her a hug and no one else one.

But yeah today's the day I guess. I'm not even sure why I wrote out that whole thing. I guess I'm in a "fuck everything" mood (have been the whole month) and I need to start taking chances that I usually just avoid. TR of course later tonight.

You're looking at it backwards. Give your friend a friends hug, and then you're all set to give her a more meaningful one.

Take the plunge man, give her a call and go meet for coffee or something. If she's just "talking" to this other guy, then its not like a commitment. Let her know you want something. Gotta put it out there and take a risk.

Giving every girl a hug >>> giving every girl a high five?

haha yeah but the other girl was NOT a friend just someone I talked to for like 2 seconds. But yeah I agree.

Ian - I don't drink but am 22, she's underage. She lives far away and is only in town for tonight and there is a huge party that she is staying at so I don't think I can isolate her that way.

It's 4:30 and the party started at 2 (she's staying at the house the party is at same with the other dude she's talking to but I am 95% sure nothing happened between them last night) so hopefully me being late won't fuck things up. A lot of my friends now are not going so this may be very awkward but fuck if I care.

Ok I am a pussy. It didn't go horribly but didn't go great. We got in some crucial talks/flirts though. I'm about to inbox her (I do not have her #) on facebook and try to see if she wants to hang out before she leaves tomorrow/today at 5pm. I will post hopefully a response when I wake up.

Just hung out with her. I'm a little bitch faggot piece of shit. There's like 34940 things I want to change in my life, basically right away. I'm not afraid to say "I hate myself" 75% of the time because I know I can make myself better.

Man, I could/maybe will give more detailed TRs from last night and today because it was pretty insane. One thing I will say is that some guy did tarot card readings to me and the girl and both matched up the situation like perfectly and I felt really awkward. I think she knew what was up though and kept smiling at me everytime the situation related more and more to what was happening. Also, some dude was there who thought the girl liked him and I am happy to say he was mad the whole weekend at me and her. I'm a dumbass.

I honestly do not even feel like talking about poker right now. I'm up like 2 buyins for those that care but poker is really mehh to what's really going on in my life.

And btw this means prop bets and tons of them next month. Even if it means I can only lose and not win anything I'm down. Maybe do this with microstakers or something.
