    Default Operation Get to 5k.

    Hey guys.

I guess I will do an operation too.
I want to get to a 5k bankroll. I started at 1680 when I first started this goal now im up to 2235.
A little history... I first built up a roll from 50 to 1800 playing sngs and some cash but then for some dumb reason I cashed all of that out except 50 and stopped playing for awhile, that was about a year ago. Then I built that 50 up to another 2000 something but I had to give some money away to a couple friends who had to withdraw all their money and had no way of depositing and I ran pretty bad. Down to about 1300 but came back up and hovered around 1600-1700 for awhile and then decided to start this. Now that I've got my roll back up I can finally start playing 100nl again.
I'm going to start 4 tabling that and maybe add more tables if I feel it's necessary. I'll be playing on Full Tilt where I do have rakeback.

Ok so I'll get this operation going... I will post hands and give updates. 5k in no time.

Ok well managed to win a stack with aces.
So far im just 2 tabling without a hud (see my thread in poker tools about PO help).
500 hands in down -130. The hand above didn't help and im just not hitting flops while my opponets have been. 500 hands is really nothing anyways. Haven't had any big mistakes unless you consider the above AJ hand a mistake, which I dont.

So far my stats are VPIP 17.9 and PFR 11.4 .... full ring

for a total of 1990 hands played for +$182.

ok so thoughts on this hand below? i was just cbetting the flop... he calls, so on turn I'm trying to get the flush draw out and any PPs that he stayed in with that didnt hit sets. then river... idk I called because this was either a set or he missed his draw and with the pot odds i think i was right there enough... but your thoughts on this hand?

    Villan was 25/5 btw

  13. #13
ok... 663 more hands in. couldnt be more card dead. didnt play well, had a couple dumb mistakes... cbets not taking down anything... fish calling and outflopping me and nitty regulars floating my cbets with PPs all day... then when i do fire another barrel they actually do have something... idk bad timing or maybe just really not playing well being tired after work. and getting good seats is a bitch so many fuckin multitabling nits on full tilt, just pisses me off.
    -$90.1 in the 663 hands

762 hands in for +$60 today.
so now im at 5613 hands for $17... gay....
could have definetly played better but also definetly variance and only 5600 hands.
i really, really, really hope PO gets the update out soon to being able to resize tables... because im going insane, i just played 5600 hands 2 tabling for like 9 days... i guess the good news is that should be around $110 for rakeback so far.

oh and the turn and river aggression numbers have gone down some.
  17. #17
Two-tabling is fun and fast enough when you are baked. Welcome to my world
  18. #18
nitty regulars floating my cbets with PPs all day
This sounds like a hand i played with you that day

... you did have TP on that hand, so you took it down no worries

I finally discovered this page due to a personal interest in starting such a blog. My stats on you say you should make 5k in short order, so GL sir. Though, i think you probably won't need it.

nice session. When i ran into you earlier today it looked like you were doing quite nicely.

Hand 1: I think you should have just called the turn. After he bet out strongly again i don't think you are often ahead. Just call, and fold if you miss all of your many outs (Heart, K, 8, Q, dead outs: (9+3+3+2 +(-3 i usually take out 2 or 3 outs since they all can't possibly still be in the deck). 14 outs makes you about a 2:1 dog against most of his range here. Yeah, just call and then hopefully get him to put some chips in on the river when you hit.

    Hand 2: nh
  31. #31
? you cant really take outs away because they arent all there... because then you would have to take other cards away too that werent your outs and your chances of hitting an out would be the same.
  32. #32
havent really played much the last few days. but i got 18th i think out of like 900 in a $26 freezout for like $150. should have been a lot more but w/e. BR is like 3200 now.
  33. #33
I think you can take outs away because there are cards already missing from the remaining deck since other players were dealt cards.

Also, looking back at hand 2 i think you played it well but for the wrong reason. If you were afraid that he may have flopped a flush as well i think you have to decide on the flop whether you are going to play for stacks. As played, you get maximum value from worse hands so the line was good but i think it was for the wrong reason.

Congrats on your roll. If i were a betting man i would say you will have your 5k by 6/01/07.

if you do that... you have to take away cards that dont help you too. so your chances of hitting less outs would go up. you have to just go with all the cards you havent seen as remaining cards to get the right odds

yeah, i agree with this... i think i was basically playing for stacks, but for some reason just had a bad feeling on the flop.

lol yeah that shows you that there is a lot more than just being specific with math odds to poker. considering you beat 100nl pretty well.

yeah being pro is definetly a goal eventually, even if its only like for a few years.

ok... good news PO finally made the update for resizeable tables!
and today i played 425 hands for +$129. havent updated in awhile and didnt really play much today but i will try to start playing more hands.
  38. #38
ok today i played 665 hands for +$142.7 despite one time where i lost my stack basically to a lucky river boat vs my flush.

here are a couple good hands from today.

villan is a 15/4 reg. who would have reraised with AA/KK/QQ right away pf and probably thought i was trying to make a move and pick it up preflop. basically he didnt have anything in his range that he was calling with.

I like hand 1 with reads.

I don't like hand 2 as much. I have to at least call the flop and probably raise a non spade turn, if he were to bet weak again. I think this is a flush draw making a blocking bet/weak ace probing at least some of the time.

Excellent stats btw! I think my 6/07 prediction might be too far ahead if you would just play more
  40. #40
ok today 568 hands for +$150...
had to get off cuz of a storm and have to do some other stuff. so im not gonna post any hands either.

    765 hands for +$153
really boring session for some reason. made some decent money though.
  42. #42
wow havent played in like 10 days. ive been busy but when ive had time ive had no motivation... you think i would considering ive ran good lately. i dont know any help to get me motivated? or do i just need to stop being so lazy?
  43. #43
wow havent played in like 10 days. ive been busy but when ive had time ive had no motivation... you think i would considering ive ran good lately. i dont know any help to get me motivated? or do i just need to stop being so lazy?

I don't know how to motivate yourself to come back. Maybe you are just feeling burned out -- i can remember taking more than 10 days off from poker before in the last couple of months. I think you ought to wait to come back to playing until you want to. Forcing yourself to play might just make you playing less than optimally, and damaging your roll is worse than not building it. It doesn't look like you are grinding for 1000's of hands a session and frying your brain, so you will probably want to return to playing poker fairly soon.

    GL with beating the burnout!

had to make a lot of big laydowns today too. some already posted in this thread.
  60. #60
I probably don't fold either of those set hands, especially the second one.
  61. #61
most people just refuse to lay down sets period. which is wrong because its really only good advice for people starting out who shouldnt be folding sets.

and if i told you i really really dont believe that particular villan would make that move with a draw there would that make it more of a fold for you?

also if i have 55 on this hand i would have to call.

Hand 1: if you are going to c/c flop, you really should lead the turn. for like $35 and 3bet if he raises. IMO he will almost always raise his A-J+ hands since the FD is possible and your bet there would appear to be a blocking bet.

Hand 2: oh well. You played it fine.

    Hand 3:

IMO, betting this river is -EV. Q-x that isn't two pair will almost always check behind, and won't call a river bet. Two pair hands will most likely check behind as well, but are much more likely to call a bet on the river. Obviously you percieve this opponent to be a donk (rightly so?), but i don't think you are even ahead of his range on the river.

yeah villan in hand 3 was calling raises pf with shit like 107o then staying in with stuff like 3rd pair the whole way. i figured he would call with just a pair there. i figured i would just put the last 30 in myself to get value out of him calling with stupid stuff on the river that he might just check behind with. but maybe i should have just checked idk.
  65. #65
ok so i played like 1k hands ish of 200nl the last couple days and ran absolutely horrible so many coolers and bad beats. pretty gay to run like that when i first move up.
