    Default Operation Focus

No no no, if you came in here looking for a ford commercial your probably in the wrong forum.

I have finally decided to start an operation, I have followed this forum for probably about a year, stalking ppl from just out of site . But never really posted that much. Well now its my turn to start an operation. So I will begin with the low down:

I have been playing cards for about 2 years now online (I am only 19), and at first pulled the beginner blah blah blah. Then i started reading here, as well as some other literature and kablamo I was a break even player. We I countined to get better and better and considered my self a fary good player at the lower stakes (10Nl then 25Nl) and started to move up. Well the problem was i was inconsistent in my focus on poker and lack of time to play (Im a 2nd year engineering student). Well lately I have been able to make alot more time for poker and have seen some good success. Here are some of my graphs.

So i consider myself a half decent player. With basic knowledge, the ability to lay down strong hands. My problem lies in my focus, hence the name. I will play good cards all day be up 3+ buy - ins, then either not know when to quit, play when im upset, or play when I am tired. I am well aware of all of these problems and I hope this operation blog will help keep me honest, as well as check the line on some hands I was 'ify' on.

So i have set some basic goals/rules
My br is starting @ a little over $1400 (part to the winning of 2 sunday million tickets this week, love the 2700 fpp, 20 man (4 ticket) satellites.
    a) Never play consecutively for more then 3 hours without at least a 30 minute break.
    b) Only take a shot at 100Nl when over br $1500
    c) When I lose a big pot on a bad beat, if i feel angry or any emotion take a 15 minute break
    d) Run goot , try and play well and improve my bb/100
    e) Learn more advanced theory.

Alright well I got out most of what I had to say there. Oh ya, btw I am 6 tabling .25/.50 (50NL) on stars, game is really fishy. Should be able to beat it (which I have been).

And finally after that huge essay, I just wanted to say hi. Feel free to come in and chat, I am looking forward to getting to know some of you. Ps. Thanks to everyone at ftr for there posts, its been awesome, I owe you guys so much.

Hopefully I will post some hands in a little bit

Well its been awhile since my first post. I have been bogged down in mid terms and alot of homework. I did however have a little bit of time to play. So i cashed out $1250 from pokerstars, and moved $750 to ub for their 111% bonus. But being an idiot I forgot to sign up for rakeback (arrggghhh). Well i started playing .25/.50 NL with pretty good success, ran my roll from 750 to 1k in about 2 days. Then i decided to check the .5/1 tables to see how the players at this level were. (i have heard ub is full of fish). Sure enough this level was full of ridiculously bad fish and i started to cut it up. I would post my poker tracker info, but its late and i dont have time. But basically i ran about 4.5K hands at .25/.5 (maybe 500-1k) and .5/1 (the other ~4k) for a total of $1162 (including $65) in bonus. The bonus was why i switched to ub, but it clears so slow, however i appear to have found the holy grail of poker rooms for me at this point. Currently im running about 12 bb/100 over that period. So yes im am definately catching some cards, but i dont feel that im playing as well as i could and there is definately alot more value on the tables that i have been leaving behind. So i feel something around this level is maintainable. The players decent, but oh so predicatable. Easy to take em to value town.

Playing 4 tables of $100 buy in is a big step for me. Considering up till a month ago i was playing .10/.25. At this point its almost surreal, and the good news is my sample size is reaching a size where it starts to become more then just a lucky streak.

Well thanks for listening to me ramble. Ill hopefully have some hands to post tomorrow.

so you're up about $400 from your starting $1400? Nice work! Keep it up.
A word of caution, drop back to $50 if you hit a downturn of a few buyins, don't smash your roll, but if you run hot another day you'll be well rolled for $100nl. Figure you've already read all the bankroll posts here, so no need to stay more. I'm looking forward to moving up shortly, I've been a bankroll nit to date. Might see you on UB...

Sorry i guess my post wasnt really clear on my situation, I cashed $1250 out of my roll, saved about 150 on stars for mtt, so i then only moved $750 to ub, where i am now up to $1950. So in reality my br is at about $2600 give or take. And yes i was slightly underolled at .5/1 but now i have ~26 buy ins which is more then what i need to handle the ub fish

nice one. I didn't realise you meant 12 B(ig)B(ets)/100 (from limit terminology) rather than big blinds (bb).

Impressive effort, and you're well rolled after all! Sounds like I should be heading over to UB rather than Full Tilt once I'm done clearing my bonus on Prima. your game obviously works well there - wonder if mine will...
