    Default Operation BART

    Thats Build-A-Roll-Two.

My goals, um. Daily log. Brutal honesty. I will make 25k this year, thats pretty much my only goal. I'd like to get to 50NL sometime soon.

    Sooooo here we go

    Vitals
Bankroll On Jan 15th: $130 (Yeah. Ow.)
    Bankroll On Feb 20th: $703
    Bonus and Rakeback: Yup.

    Thats pretty much it.

Sooo, lets just jump right in here.

    Feb 20
I set my girlfriends desk up as my poker station away from home. Its got my dell2001fp (so sweet) and my laptop, so I've got enough for 5 tables ez and 6 tables with a little overlap. I've been running pretty craptastic lately. My 24 hour session ended 4 buyins down. I won one buyin yesterday while in class, and lost half one today. But I've been running so damned good overall its really hard for me to complain.

Heres my graph over all my NL25 hands that have been played on my laptop (I'll get the ones from my desktop soon... maybe)

Over my last 8k hands I've played here I'm averaging about 8bb/100 + RB + Bonus.

edit: image is too big to post here without being annoying, so just copy paste it.
    http://img178.imageshack.us/img178/6678/pokerdayeb9.jpg

So as you can see I ran really really good for a long time and now its plateau'd a good bit. I've pretty much been break-even to slightly down for the last 10k hands I've played (24 hour session + today) but with rakeback I'm probably slightly ahead. But I'm due for a good run, so hopes are high.

Anyway, today: I played for 6.5 hours, 2k hands, and lost $14 heh. Oh well. I'm still trying to push morons who cant fold off hands and they just NEVER fold. I dont know why I keep trying (yes I do BECAUSE THEYRE SO FARKING WEAK AND THEY SHOULD FOLD BUT THEY CANT). *screams*

I'm rambling. Ok so my schedule from now onward is, I hope: 6+ hours of play on tues/thurs (depending on how I'm playing/doing) because I have no class. Monday + Weds, half that. Fri, Sat, Sunday, aiming for about 12 hours total. I'm in college and have to party sometime. Total comes out to somewhere around 30 hours a week. A little more than part-time.

So, follow me to riches. This operation will never end, think of it kinda like my blog. I could just sign up for a real FTR blog, but theyve only been offered to the "vets" and yes I am one, but, I'm a man of the people. That, and I dont think anyone reads them ;]

    Cheers
    Euph

    My 24 hour session
Was there a thread I missed? Why would you give yourself such pain?

Anyways, good luck with the grinding. You'll be (back?) at 50NL in no time.

Dont think a propbet will work here, sorry. What am I gonna do, bet 1k? Thats more than my 'roll. Bet $100? Well, thats too little to care. Nah, just keep nagging me on here. ;]

Prop bets aren't about the money, they are about the race, reasons to play and public humiliation. It's about another motivating factor other than money. If money was the only reason to have a prop bet, we wouldn't bet our friends, and we would bet for much more. When I had my bet with Bode-ist, i managed to play over 35K hands in just over a month, because I wanted to win, not the $50, win.

Feb 21 No play. Spent most of the day in bed, got up and went to class, then went to the Black Stone Cherry, Finger Eleven, Hinder show. I was really only interested in Finger Eleven, though Black Stone Cherry did play an incredibly awesome blues song turned hard-rock. The guy has an incredible voice.

Finger Eleven absolutely OWNED. If theyre coming near you, you must go see them. We left two songs into Hinder's set. They sounded alright but I'm just not into them.

The entire concert was either 35 year old women or 13 year old little girls Very little inbetween, and you could tell they were shocked when Black Stone Cherry and Finger Eleven played some heavy, heavy shit (though Finger Eleven does have "One Thing") I hear Hinder has their fair share of heavy shit but alas, the little girls and old women only know "Lips of an Angel" which if I hear one more time will casuse me to stab a midget. I dont even know any midgets, but I'll rent one out or something.

Also, hinder doesnt sound anything like they look. The singer doesnt know if he's emo or not. He's kinda like the singer from fuel. Real tall, skinny, does a little too much coke.

Anyway, go see finger eleven. The agenda for today is to play some poker, and get my car radio installed (i fried it).

Well, I still havent played a single hand of poker. Thursday I started to, then got the call from the guy who was going to install my car radio for me. Said it'd take about half an hour. I drive out there, and he did get it done, but it took three hours. There was a lot more wire work than expected. I bought him a 12 pack of beer. He's a good guy.

Then as soon as I got home I planned to play some poker... but instead got dragged to dollar-bowling night with my criminal Justice fraternity. Tons of fun. TONS of beer. I drank the better part of 3 pitchers of Killians myself. Then we went to another bar, where I had some more, I dont remember what. My credit card bill will probably hurt. Got home around like 2 am, threw up, passed out.

Woke up the next day around 1:30 PM, and I had a test at 2:30 pm. I was hung over as hell too. Anyway, took the test, came home, threw up, slept until around 8:30 PM.

Bout 8:45 PM my friends call me up and say theyre throwing a party for the Russian exchange students. Well, I couldnt miss getting drunk with russians. So drunk I got. Went home around 4am. Its now 3pm and yes, I am on my way to play some poker.

    Weeee.

Should have just shot myself in the head, woulda been more productive.

    Biggest losers, in order:

    AKo
    99
    AKs
    JJ
    AQs
    KK

YAY. Lost another 10 buyins. I fucking hate this game. 90/30 on my right bought in for $10, I quit when he hit $130. I just want to crawl into a corner and die.

hinder sucks. lips of an angel was okay until the radio stations overplayed it like crazy. their new single is so bad.

i hope poker gets better for you, it sounds like it's total shit right now. i'm not having a good time lately either, misery loves company.

Their new album isnt out yet, but its very uppity/dancy, much like the new single. They opened with Quicksand off of their first album, then played Suffocate (my fav) umm then I think First Time, then One thing, then Paralyze, and ended on... ugh what was it.. from their first album.... ahh On the Inside, which f'n pwns. Might have them out of order, but anyway yes, go see them. Its been a long time since I've seen a band that was as musically "tight" as they were live.

Hinder was alright, they sounded good but I'm just not into them. Lips of an Angel is NOT their "typical song" just like "One Thing" isnt typical Finger Eleven but everyone thinks it is. So the concert was a lot of 35 year old women and 13 year old girls and not a whole lot inbetween.

Lol. Yesterday I ran a bit better, won four buyins, lost two, donked off one, quit +1 buyin. Really nothing interesting. I experimented with being a bit more aggressive postflop, firing second barrels when I normally wouldnt and repping scare cards and it seemed to work well but I got trapped on the last one and spewed on the river. Fired three barrels on a KxxxK board with JJ and I probably coulda c/f'd the river.

Courtie: Finger Eleven's new single just got voted #1 most requested for all of sirius radio for the month which is insane. GO SEE THEM. Theyre not touring with Hinder anymore, picked up someone else, dont remember who. Evanescence and someone else I think.

    In other news:

Their new song is good. I heard from someone (I respect a lot) that their new album all sounds the same though. I'll try to steal it in the next couple of days to see for myself.

Evanescence is even worse than Hinder, lol

Thanks for the update Keep the good poker results coming.

You really like finger eleven? They are pretty bad, everything sounds the same and have a really generic style. on another note, gj moving up, stay within the roll and dont play on tilt and you will be gtg in no time.

I'd have to guess you haven't heard their non-radio stuff. One Thing is a pretty crappy song, so is Thousand Mile Wish and I can see how those would sound similar.

    Thanks for the GL.

    March 1

Was my mommy's bday today. Just thought you'd care. Umm, 1k hands, +2 buyins. I love poker so much more when I'm winning. And really all told I had a rough 10 days but I've added 4 buyins. I can't complain. BR is sitting at 798 + rakeback of around 200... gets me close to a 50NL shot.

Goin camping for the weekend so I wont be around. I'll probably be very very drunk the whole time. I went to the liquor store and bought tequila, rum, vodka, gin, Triple sec, and sweet and sour mix... oh and coke. This, my FTR friends, is the ingredients list for a Long Island Iced Tea -- gaurenteed to fuck you the fuck up. I've got a 2liter full of it and I've got the CamelBak on standby -- so I can drink it whenever I want bwaehahahahha.

Who wants to take bets on me getting arrested and/or thrown out of the park? Weeeee!

Shit, its 5am. Night. See ya sundaynight/monday.

    Trip Update:
It was about 60 degrees during the day, 40 at night, and it rained nonstop over pretty much the entire weekend. You would think that'd suck -- but it was kinda awesome. We all sat at a picnic table under a canopy and drank ourselves stupid.

No arrests, almost thrown out of park, though. Not much else to say, though.

Spring break is next week, so its *another* period I probably wont get to play much. Blah on life getting in the way of poker.

Oh god, I gotta go feed my fish. Its been four days.

None of these posts are about BR or poker, I may need to stop visiting this thread since I vowed to avoid non poker related content until $100NL full time.

Nothing much interesting going on. Breaking even again -- BR is $734. Not putting in enough hands -- thinking of another 24 hour'r... I'll be gone this weekend and all next week... this month has not been great for getting the hands in, so much going on...

Played really solid all goddamned day, made 4 buyins at 25NL, finally had the roll to try 50NL, and ran like crap.

    I've had AA 18x today. I'm net negative, $2.93.

Meh no one cares about my bad beats. Drops my roll to 831, basically turned my awesome day of 9 hours worth of work into a wash. Oh well, thats poker.

    *cry*

    Drinking your milkshake.
Some of these hands really come down to what you think of the other guy - just a VP$IP/PFR split would be nice. That said:

Hand 1: I just check preflop against these chumps. Turn is a tough spot - if the guy is LAG, i like the way you played it.

Hand 2: Fine. I might just bet/bet/bet as that gets his stack in easily enough.

Hand 3: bleh. That huge preflop raise sets up a tough spot against a deep opp with position. You' $5 block on the river looks really weak, but I'm not sure what the best line is - i either bet/fold the turn, or c/c the river as well cos im a fish. Difficult hand with no read.

Hand 4: lol just c/f flop dude. Hopefully you won this hand though

Hand 5: obv fine against shortie.

Hand 6: bleh. Dont blame you for firing the river as not many fish have the balls to check a big hand there. I prob check though cos I'm a puss.

Hand 7: I kinda wanna fold pre - depends what I think of the BB, i know the pot odds are huge, but if his range is real tight then we should get out. Post flop is fine.

Hand 8 : Standard. Looks like you got rivered.

Hand 9 : I don't cbet into 2 players very often, especially not when they are loose and shortstacked. Just take them to value town when you hit. Don't feel you have to continue after a PFR.

Hand 10 : It's ok to fold the flop sometimes vs a passive player. I just call the river - we beat a missed draw, and we'll get looked up by Kx alot here since our turn check looks weak.

I would play a more nitty style. It seems like you are trying to make people fold, and obv at this level they wont. No reason to get over aggro at 25/50nl.

Ran some math with what I was *expected* to get versus what I *actually* got by comparing it to a 30k hand sample from absolutes 25NL game.

Basically it just confirms I ran bad. But its a little unscientific. Kinda like comparing.. red ants and black ants. Both ants, but really not quite fair to compare the two.

Might still need some refining. I'm having issues with the theory behind the expected # of hands won and the actual # of hands won. Like in the 3 of a kind for example: I won with 9 trips, but i should have been dealt 13 more and won a TOTAL of 26 times. I dont think its fair to say that I should have won 17 more hands. Eh, well it kinda is.. but its disingenuous because I didnt LOSE those hands, i just didnt WIN with them. Most of them never took place.

I'll have to think some more on that. Right now its bed time.

I feel your pain atm Euphoricism....I've been the same way for the last week or so, blown away all my winnings since restarting playing based on my hands not holding up or not hitting a flop, etc (along with a bit of really bad playing or getting out played)

It gets frickin annoying as hell to watch money move to some shortie player or some donk and then have the table break before you can get your money back but I guess the best way to look at it is with a longterm view and that if we can handle the downswings when they happen at lower levels then we should be able to handle them at higher stacks in future and be able to recognize and appreciate the upswings when we see them.

You are a good player. Get through this shit and you will be fine. Getting through it without pulling some hair out and going insane, though, isn't guaranteed ...

Running bad sucks. Hard God when I was playing MTTs just a little while ago, it got to a point where I had lost 10+ flips in a row (I classify 60/40s as flips whether I go in ahead or behind) and I was ready to kill something. All of them were either for huge stacks or for my entire stack, and I lost over 10 straight. WTF LEE JONES YOU ASSHOLE. It's hard to imagine someone who understands poker (to a degree ) totally freaking out after losing a flip, but I so got to the point where I got so mad that I either threw something or I flipped out on someone. lol ... so bad. Maybe I shouldn't play poker, no head for it

I have a tendency to get pissy and run straight here to bitch about it. Well, after I bitch to trainer_Jymz This probably makes me seem more pissed than I am. Its the closest thing I have to a vent.

Really I played 12k hands and dropped 5 buyins. I was 8 tabling and I ran bad - this isn't shocking and its not the end of the world and its not a sign that I'm a losing player.

And my real goal was just to get to silverstar and order an ipod so I can resell it, and I'm about 150 points away from that so I'm happy

I also got my epassporte set up so I can move back to absolute with real rakeback which was my bigger goal. Stars is pretty shitty.

This is great, you need to move money around, even if your american. It's no excuse for sitting on a shitty site grinding nickels, when you can play somewhere for b0nus's and rakeback.

Stars SUCKS. Their cash games are so hard compared to other sites. I'm still in love with their interface, but the games are so bad. 100NL on Party is way easier than 50NL on Stars.

Just a heads up, I think AP changed rakeback to rake contribution rather than rake share, which sucks if you are a tight player.

Wha? When? I've been playing on them for a few months. If they did, I've probably not noticed. Then again I'm getting 30% compared to the usual sites 25% so that might make up a bit of the difference

A couple months ago I think, my affiliate emailed me a long time ago about it. They tried to convince them to change back, but they won't. Some people saw their RB cut in half because of it.

Ran better, well, started out running awesome but then got hit by a few nasties. It was a short session, only 1300 hands, plus 2 buyins.

Ive got three hands for you guys tonight --

#1 I think this one was... bad... but I'm not sure what went wrong. Dont shove turn I guess.

#2 Looks superstandard. Villains overbet on the flop threw me a bit but I dont particularly care

#3 My read said flushdraw, but I still dont know about this one..

In hand 1 I don't know if I like the overcall. I don't think calling is bad but c/r the turn is really bad since villian c/r the flop. I would c/c his bet and hope for a . Hands 2 and 3 look fine to me, you might raise less in hand 3 to get more money in but if you think he will call a push then it's fine.

thanks gmml. I agree pretty much wholeheartedly.

In other news -- finished my run at stars. Got to silverstar, got my ipod and Theory of Poker (and something else I dont need and i dont remember), and got OUT. Withdrew to epassporte. Signed up for rakeback at vegas247 so I can be back at my wonderful loving absolutepoker.

    YEEEHAW everythings good.

    Ooooh ooh in real life:

So, i went to class monday still a little hungover from the last throes of springbreak fever, and just before class begins the girl next to me says "You ready for your presentation?" and I.. uh.. wasn't. Ooohshitwhoops.

I swore it was like three weeks later than it was.

So what did I do? I did what every smart person would do. I stood up, went home, and had a beer.

She called me later that night and told me my ass got incredibly lucky -- he postponed all presentations a week and instead moved our midterms up. While it does mean I have two exams now on friday, it also means I can still pull this presentation together. Woot Woot.

Not only that, since the presentations were pushed back the prof decided to have the review session. But I left, and missed it. The girl emailed me everything on the review!

So i skipped class because i fucked up and forgot my presentation. So my presentation got cancelled. But they had the review for the exam, I wasnt there, I was at the bar downing pints of Killians. The girl next to me sent me a copy of everything on the review.

I didnt even have to take notes! Score!

So, as it turns out, I RUN AMAZINGLY GOOD!

Hey Euph, just wanted to ask (as i've been away for a long time) how come a guy with 2000+ posts and obvious standing around here had only ~$150 in January. Is there some exciting tale behind that or have you just been working up from penny games? I'm not belittling you or anything, just curious.

Shortsotry: I dropped a lot of money at the crypto 5/10 GDP game (So closer to 8/16) and then when that happened I went into a "I just dont want to play phase" while I still lived off my bankroll. This had the effect of shrinking the living hell out of my bankroll

Marh 22 -- gave 50NL another shot. Started out two tabling, ended four tabling +2 buyins. Its the exact same game as 25NL.

Well, my exams are over, and they overwhelmingly went "ok". Then it was one of my good friends 21st birthdays this weekend so we partied like woa. And next weekend I'll be gone camping. I'm a busy little bee.

So, not a whole lot of poker got played. I did around 1k hands today between the hours of midnight and 7am. I played like shit and I'm lucky it only cost me $15. I also ran bad, dropped two buyins with KK. Ran into AA once and a guy hit a set another. But I can't worry about that, only the stuff I fucked up...

    such AAASSSSS....

I really like my flop play here -- but villain is telling me his hand and I'm not listening. Thankfully he didnt make me pay a river bet because I probably woulda because I was playing like crap.

And I'll end with one that I played SO FUCKING BAD... but I won.

But i came out at the end more or less unscathed. There was atleast one 60/40 on every one of my tables -- and they were all atleast 5 buyins deep and I dont think I touched any of them. Sucky.
