3a is defensible depending on reads, even preferrable

HAND 3B) - i guess don't understand this line of reasoning :

"Villain was 23VPIP (that’s fairly tight for PLO) over 100 hands. He wasn’t a very inventive player, but I wasn’t sure if he’d call with a 3 being so tight and lead the flop into my PFR with it""

Doesn't that mean he isn't inventine -ie plays straightforward. so when he bets into you OOP on this board, what does a st8 forward player have?
Calling isn't 100% suicidal if you have a read that he will payoff turn if you hit flush, or conversely if he will shut down on the turn and not bet if he doesn't fill (so you see both cards) but without these specific reads this call is suicidal. The turn raise all in, unless I'm reading too fast and missing something, is retarded.

HAND 3C)
What do you think? Perhaps it would have been better to lead the flop and fold to a raise. With a broadway straight and 2 spades on the board I think I overvalued my middle set here. I’m prone to overvaluing sets. It’s probably my biggest leak at the moment. There had already been a hand where I put it all in with middle set against a bigger set and a flush draw and was drawing dead. I don’t have much idea how to play this flop AT ALL. Check raising turns a good hand into a semi-bluff, and check calling seems to open up a can of worms.

*** That pretty much sums it up. Player reads are the most important thing here. Would he automatically push the AT on this draw heavy board, or would he C/C or B/C hoping for safe turn. Some people would play that way with QQ. Some push with both, as well as bottom set. Eitehr way, you are basically 50/50 with any hand other than QQ. You won't ever know if he has that, or the st8.

I think raising is only good if you think people are nitty/passive enough to fold often. I think the PLO medium stake Reraise on the flop is overused, since so often its simply a coin flip, and knowledgeable lags are fine getting 2/1 on thier money being 50%. The best have such a large bankroll that its extremely +EV since with enough variance you will bust out or drop stakes while they will be just fine. Put another way, i'm pretty passive and I"m calling you here with any AT, any flush draw, any set, and evaluating turn. I'll push every hand that beats yours on flop. With the draw hands, i'll make your life difficult on turn. Conclusion, deep stacked i don't think you should be looking to felt it here.
