Operation: $100k

    Default Operation: $100k

I took the majority of last month off, came back and started playing the best poker of my life, moved up to 400nl and got raped, dropping 4k to just general sickness, moved back down and dropped another 10buyins, more due to tilt and bad play rather than beats/coolers.

But I'm back on form now, and gonna crush this month, hopefully!

However, I'm finding it difficult to motivate myself to play, so I decided I need to set myself some longterm goals sooooo...next march I hit 21, meaning i can play in vegas, so between now and next june I'm gonna try and build up a 100k bankroll and sat/buyin to the wsop me, and some side events/play big cash games, and basically spin it up or go busto trying.

Now that I've finished up my job i've lots of time to dedicate to pokers.

So first goal is to recover from last month and build up a really comfortable bankroll for 400nl.

    And in more general terms:

    • I have some very underused subscriptions for leggo and cr, and I'm gonna try and fit in 3/4 videos a week.
    • spend way more time reviewing sessions
    • post way more strat
    • actually use pokerstove and do some ev calculations
    • cut back to just 8 tables
    • spend more time developing strong reads on regs
    • TAKE MORE NOTES
    • play more

anyway, so far this month I'm running at 15bb/100 and up about 1300 or so, 1.3% of the way!

    [ ] sustainable

    Wish me luck!

Now pull a Spoon and readjust your goal to 250k and supernova elite by tomorrow GL, this should be interesting to follow. What limits do you play?

Can you help explain the differences you see between 200nl and 400nl in regards to opponents? thanks!

The main difference is that 400nl regs run really well vs me! :P

Nah, I didn't play a whole lot of 400nl, and it was on ipoker so I'm probably not the best person to ask, but I found there was a lot more 18/14, type players who just were really tight, which was good for me on tables with a couple of fish as i could play way more hands.

But also there were a good few really aggressive players who 3bet a ton pre and just were tough to play against, 200nl regs just seem to check and call w/o the initiative, it was tougher to win pots vs them, plus they hand read better. I found a few things that I could get away with at 200nl didn't really work vs them.

plus a lot of the regs i play have just really obvious leaks, like calling with weak suited kings oop and other silly stuff like that, while the 400nl regs were a lot more solid.

idk about that but i'll try! just 200nl atm.

    stats so far this month:

The only real problem i have at the moment is motivating myself to play, I just find when I'm up a couple of buyins I just end up quitting, hjhjhjhjhjsadgas, I really have to cut this out. And i could probably up the turn+river aggression.
  8. #8
hohum, just played a really swingy session, was down about 500 at one stage, and finished up about 460ish after 1110 or so hands.

So that puts me over the 2k mark for the month, I'm gonna take a break and hopefully come back and put in a few more hands, and maybe post some.

been kinda lazy so far this month, been out and stuff the last few days and played a live donkament yesterday so this is my first session since my last post.

bah, dropped 5 buyins tonight. gonna take a break, and play somemore.

hmmm, i should have just quit, i was playing super spewy.

ok, resonably happy with how I played tonight, a couple of hands off the top of my hand I'm unsure of, and there's probably gonna be a few more when i review the session. Was a bit of a struggle, I was back down to even at one stage before grinding it back up.
  15. #15
idk about this hand. he was 35/12 or so, and I had been playing reasonably tight on this table.

Just timing tells suggested he was really strong pre/on the flop, and he bet the turn really quick (i.e. i don't think he decided to turn a one pair hand into a bluff)

at the same time i'm giving him credit for getting here with an ace, although, aa is possible with this guy.

just looking at my top 5 losing hands, the first three are pretty standard, I lost 280 with AA vs 53 on an A Q 8 board.

200 with AA, when I isolated a fish, called a 3bet and crai on a 10 high board into 1010.

another 200 when i 3bet jj and called a crai on a low drawy board vs aa.

the next two were bad calls on my part:

This guy was really donkish, and the river is a clear fold, which was what i was thinking as I made it

This is a hand from yesterdays session, where i was more than a bit tilted.

I think it's kinda interesting (and really spewy), the guy was 3betting and squeezing a good amount, so I called pre playing to do some funky stuff post.

I float his flop bet, and I was gonna shove the turn, but then i thought that a bet should have the close to the same amount of fold equity, and since I have very little equity if called i can save money if he goes for a stack a donk with aq+.

he timed down and called, i figured he was fairly weak, and the river card is just the nuts for me to bluff even if he is getting sick odds, so i ship it and he insta folds. lucky for me.

not really a standard hand at all for me.

Interesting goal, I've to admit. Since playing in a casino is always different than playing online, I'd rather go just for the main event or a smaller event like a $ 5,000 NL something.
  19. #19
played for 2 hours today, and made $250 in 1200 hands, reasonably happy with how that, considering how badly i was playing at the beginning of the session, was down about 550 at one stage. lost a couple of flips with ak as well.

i actually won money in non showdown pots, and my wwsf% is over the 45% mark, so i'm playing a lot better postflop than a couple of months ago.

hopefully at the end of this month i'll have enough $$$ to go have another go at 400nl

i dunno if i'm just being results orientated, but i think should have just folded the turn, and as played i should have shoved.

his cbet and double barrell % were really high, which led to me calling, i think once he checks i should just shove, i've a good image and i don't think he's capable of making a hero call putting me on a missed fd or turning a made hand into a bluff.

i gave it some thought, but in the end just nitted out.

    Default Update

Just short of 4k, need to play more IMO.

I started getting coaching this week, there's a few area I'm a big weak on, I'm too passive pre, could do with 3/4 betting a bit more, could be a bit more agro with my c-betting, pick up more small pots, and prob hand read a bit better, I tend to give people a bit too much credit.

I feel like I'm playing better, and I'm certainly paying more attention to what I'm doing.

In other news, laid 500 at 2/1 against this challange:

    http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/sh...d.php?t=175996

guy is trying to make 40k in a month at 200nl fr, I really doubt it's possible, and I would have laid more $$$ on it, if i could, problem is my roll is euro and i only have dollars from my rakeback, anyho, it's a free $500 i think..

started playing this really great game drugrunners.net which has cut down the amount of hands I play even more

thanks, that's without doubt the my best graph!

unfortunately, this month hasn't been so great, I played 4k hands in one day at the start of the month. The last 400 is from tonight.

kinda sick to be 10 buyins below expectation at one point. hopefully i'll pull out of it over the next coupla days. I'm also up about 700 from a few hundred hands of hus on my laptop.

I was playing a donkament over the weekend, €750 entry, 189 runners, 40k for the winner.

I got off to a good start early on (including calling a 2x pot bet with 33 on a k6852 board and sending the other guy on mega tilt lol) running up to 35k. finished on 24k though.

anway, I made it down to the last 12, when I open k10s in the sb to the cl's bb, I have about 110, he has about 500k, playing really loose and running like god.

Blinds are 2000/4000 with a 300 ante (structure was really sick btw, 15k stack, one hour blinds extending to 90mins on the second day, all levels included) and i open for 12k.

he calls, the flop is Qd9c10d, I bet 17k, he announces all in, I call and he flips 6c8c and hits the gut shot on the river. bit unlucky, it would have left me with a good stack going into a not very tough final table. oh well. So I collect 1750 instead of 40k.

I did make it into the hendon mob site though, and thus have gained full credibility as a poker player!

May was a mixed month, on the one hand I think I improved a ton, and played much better than last month, unfortunately this wasn’t rewarded, instead I ran about 20 buyins below expectation. I don’t think I’ve ever had a month where I ran so bad, but I’m happy with how I dealt with it, I tilted very little, and didn’t really get too affected by it, just kept plugging away trying to turn it around. Overall with a couple of different things (donkaments, rb, prop bets etc) I made about 7k or so.

I plan on mixing in a lot more 400nl this month once I feel like I’m running ok again, I played a bit of that and 600nl in May with good results so I’m looking forward to it.

Still not 21 yet so I have to make do with playing some Irish donkaments and get some practice in for next years series, there's about a 500/1500 donkament every month or so, so I'm gonna play all of those.

happy enough with how things are going. i've been running well since i moved up, finding it way easier than when i tried playing it before, and i also find myself paying more attention and playing better just as it's something new, so i hope that continues. I've started to play more 400nl than 200nl recently, if there were more games running i think i'd play it exclusively. i may have to start looking at adding some other sites.

Finally got around to importing my hands to hm, so i'm looking forward to getting that set up and finding out where I'm setting money on fire. also gonna try and put lots of time into other regs too.basically i'm gonna try and take the game more seriously this month, watch a few videos every week, try and read msnl, and spend more time reviewing my hands. etc etc

    it's all goot.

These are all the hands in my new database:

I lost my my database last month, which had the first 12k hands i played of 2/4 and 3/6 where i ran about 10bb/100 as well. It seems so absurd for me to win at that sort of w/r over a decent sample. i've cut back on the number of tables, and pay a ton of attention when i play now which guess has helped, i used to just be a multi tabling monkey. i don't think i'm a great edge in those game or anything, just been running goot i guess.

Going to play a €500 donkament this weekend, 3 of us are renting an apartment in the hotel for a few days so it should be sweet. ~400k prize pool, so in the off chance i run goot and click there could be a good pay day.

Wow, its pretty incredible when you see winrates like this at those stakes. When you say you've cut back tables, how many would you normally play now?

    Nice month
