 'one time' !
For the zillionth time I am going to try to actually make some profit playing poker. My weapon of choice is going to be double or nothing SNGs. I've played hundreds of these in the past six months or so and tend to enjoy grinding them. I was watching a replay of the EPT this morning and they were showing %'s against the cards pf, which I'd decided to pay a bit of attention to.
How many times I've moaned when my QQ has been beat by QK for instance or similiar hand... yet I was reminded today watching the EPT that the QK still has 30% equity, 3 times out of 10 it will win, so sure the QQ 'should' win... but it's not THAT exceptional if it doesn't.
Similarly another coupling that surprised me was two overcards - QT to 99, just because QT isn't a great hand doesn't change the fact it's got 45% equity against any lower PP... In fact I was surprised to see it's actually got more equity against 99 or lower pairs than AK pf. Thinking about it, I remember it must be because QT can form the middle of a straight whereas AK can't... And of course the equity is only against pairs... none the less this reminded me how much I had forgotten of what I first learned and how caught up in delusion alot of my post hand thinking was... I can't believe that guy sucked out with only 3 kings in the deck barring some miracle deck giving him a straight to make his higher pair holding QK against QQ... Well, you better believe it because it's going to happen 3 out of 10 times...
So I'm going back to basics refreshing and renewing the fundamentals and then I'm going to grind some $1 double or nothings. I'm going to play 1000 and see if I can average a 7% ROI. If I can I'm going to repeat until I have 50 buyins for the next level of DON and rinse and repeat.
I'm going to start this when I get my $50 bankroll deposited which should be happening over the next day or so. Also I'm not going to pay any attention to sharkscope during this OP, it tends to distract me. In fact I'm not going to look at ROI at all until I finish playing the 1000 SNGs. I think I tend to get 1fpp per $1sng, so I'm just going to count my fpps to keep track of how many I've played and stop when I hit 1000.
