Default Official Team Canada Progress Thread

Let's talk goals and let's lay down some prob bets.

What do you guys think of this thread being a summary of our results on the way to booking a huge year? So far the ideas for cumulative profit goals have ranged from 500k to 1 mill for either 4 of us (Alexos, griffey, Ravageur and myself) or 5 of us (+meeloche). I suggested a 500k goal for the first four names mentioned, griffey suggested 600k with meeloche included and Alexos is thinking grand salami with a cool million, all of us included.

Anybody interested in making some prop bets? let's assume I (we?)'d be only interested in betting with people we know well (results and payments will be completely trust-dependent) and our reliability and honesty in posting results is pretty much impossible to prove (especially with all of us playing mainly on Euro sites... no PTR).

FWIW I'd be willing to bet 1k, even money, on myself making 100k this year.

The simple rule is everybody is responsible for posting a results graph at the end of each month. Some questions to consider are whether we include RB, donkament scores, live scores, etc.

    Thoughts? Any prop-bettors interested?

Well damn you beat me to the punch. I was gonna post this thread last night, but was trying to figure out a cool name like "Operation Team Canada: Lettin' it rain to a million".. but you beat me to the punch, and without a cool name! haha

I'll have to think about some bets. Conor - I think we're in the same position, with not playing full time. Job definitely cramps my style, so I'll have to figure out what I think is reasonable. I'm with you though and I'd also like to go for $100k this year. Well really $10k/month is my goal, but $100k sounds like a nice round number.

Mark said he'll post sometimes, so Go Team Canada!

I'd say the 5 of us to $800k! (cause Alex's personal goal is $300k)

I'm definitely down for this, 100k for me would be a good year given I'm at 1/2 right now. I'm just not sure how the prop-betting would go, i.e. who would take these bets.

Either way I like the initiative!

When you guys say $100k, do you mean $100k POKER profits, or $100k total profits including bonuses/RB etc?

Also, we could do some sort of three-way bet. Whatever we set as our goals, we make a $500 bet. Anyone who doesn't meet their goals pays 500 to those that do?

I would have to avoid a death EV run to make 100k in just poker profits so i'm talking 100k total profit.

Ok why don't we make a bet in JUST poker profits then, cause thats the easiest to track with graphs and stuff too.

    Maybe $80k?

Bleh I'll stop being a nit. So long as it includes tourney profits/losses then i'm in for 100k.

haha well don't get me wrong, I'm counting on bonuses/RB etc too.

I don't mind either way. Will be more confusing for you to keep track of donkaments maybe? but that's cool. Obv a tourney score should count.

Mark plans on winning the Main Event afterall.

I don't mind posting monthly results as long as everyone does (which is the point of this thread? lol). I think it can be wtv u want, rb or not. Mine will be just cash results no rb or tourneys, but the goal still remains 300k.

i would suggest that the wheeling, dealing and goal-setting involve cash games without RB, bonuses or donkament scores.

so i guess under those circumstances my goal should be about 75k

either way, it ll be fun to post results every month in here and see how things evolve

another thought i had is to have some kind of competition between us and Team USA or Team ScandiSickos...
when the vpip's are high and the value bets are like razors, who can be safe?

Team USA being... nuts, sauce, ISF and max?... yaah we can take them for sure! lol

Yah I'd rather take on some euros!

P4's and Halv should make a team.

Haha that would be awesome. I mean, any big downswing on our team would definitely be solid crippling in any team vs team battle

lol do we even need to check (the fishiness):P

Last time I played a month or so ago, there was a bunch of 2-2 games and 1-1 games. Idk prolly over 20 games in peak time at those limits.

edit: 14 games of 1-1 to 2-2 right now.

    Poker profits: $15,015.05
    Bonuses: $400 promo, $600 cash, $500 sign-up bonus = $1500
Total poker earnings for month: $16,615.05

Total poker profits for 2011: $15,015.05
Total poker earnings for 2011: $16,615.05.

This is my personal word of wisdom for myself, since I'm running well right now:

poker success is defined, not by how well you do while running good, but how well you do while running bad.

    Uploaded with ImageShack.us

+500 bonus + 400 rb + 1.8k donkaments so only 3.9k overall, that s just not gonna fucking cut it.

feb will last 24 days for me (trip at the end) but let me tell you, those 24 days will be full of fans getting hit by shit.

So did we decide how we're doing this? Strictly poker profits, no rakeback/bonuses/tourney profits right?

Here is this month's cash: +7.5k

    what a fucking disaster.

incredibly difficult month in my private life; nothing particularly interesting, just some hardcore emo stuff

games were great and i played great throughout, so fucking frustrating to have the doomswitch pulled right before leaving on a 2 week trip i ve had planned since before xmas.

EV line doesn't quite give a clear picture, what with the constant set-over-setting, ppl floating flop CR and hitting 2 outers etc.

I still don't even know what this operation's goals are...should we kill this thread? Either way February was a frustrating month but I leave it feeling hopeful for March.

+3.5k cash (gg -5.5k at 2/4), down a bit in tournaments I think.

I vote not to lock, if Alex wants to compile results

February was lame for me. Breakeven'ish on poker, maybe +/- $500 I forget which way, and +1k bonuses/RB.
