    Default new to these forums

Hey guys, I am brand new to these forums and wanted to say hi. I would type up a quick bio about myself here but I think it is easier for you and me to just post my blog link here.

I know this is my 1st post here and it looks like a "hit and run", but honestly I am looking to get active in the poker communities... this looks like a great place to start. If you are curious about my strategy blog, have a look in my profile and you can find the link there...

call me a cynic , but looks like a seo marketing spam for your own website. look up www.stopforumspam.com and theres some posts there categorizing the different form of spammers. signature and profile links are classic forms of upping your sites rating especially if they are on one of the top sites.

Thanks for the warm welcome shot glass

Keith. I am not a spam/traffic hog... take a quick look at my blog and I dare you to find just one banner or one product for sale...

But I do understand where you are coming from...

thats no the point though .....give it a month or two and suddenly your site can be littered with sign up links for websites, or advertising other stuff.

I probably come at this from a different angle to other people but i'm an admin at a different site and its a never ending battle deleting spammers and there junk so that the board actually contains useful information rather than medecine/porn/back links.

I get what you are saying, ironically, one of the reasons being of my blog is to counter all these "poker strategy" sites that offer 0 substance and are created to generate affiliate links and all...

Again I understand your concern, I too had to battle the bots on an old site... I probably should have introduced myself in a different way

Yeah making you first post with a link to another site/blog is not the best way to get started. If you're not going to explain your poker goals/background here, why are you posting at all?

Anyway, I'll be sure to track your progress if you decide to stick around.

Fair enough Ravageur, here is me and poker in a nutshell...

I started playing poker pre-Moneymaker, I actually was playing some quarter games when I was 12, I guess that is about 24 years ago... yeeesh dating myself, I feel old...

I have been a winning poker player for the past 5-6 years playing no higher then 100 NL. I have struggled with trying to push win rates, 6 table and cram poker strategy in my brain ever since... I have struggled with this because I have never been able to quite go "balls out" with poker...

The last year or two I have played mostly live and not all that much at that. A few months ago I was talking to a few of my buddies at my home game and the conversation turned to "Jeff why don't you write poker anymore"...

I decided to pursue the idea of poker writing and in the same breath I figured I would have to start playing more again.

I am not looking to grind 12 tables at 3BB/100 and make a living at poker. It is just not a healthy option for me even if I was able to pull it off...

So here is me trying to dive back into the poker scene, post Black Friday and all... I am currently playing some 25NL 6 handed...

WOW! After coming back to re-read this thread, it looks like I owe you a pretty big apology. Your initial post...well, you know what it appeared to be, so hopefully you can understand my sarcastic reaction.
You have my deepest apologies and I look forward to reading some of your writing.

yes, but if you're refering to rating as in google pagerank then its fairly irrelevent here.. urls in forum posts on FTR contain the attribute rel=nofollow which means the google crawler ignores them as potential backlinks

maybe we should all delete our early posts so that post 8 becomes "the start" of the blog.
