Well, quite a few things have happened. I'll post some sort of update (or not) sometime later.

Larry Bird was said to stay after every game and practice free throws.
As much as we would like to think there are naturals, in the end it comes down to putting in the effort.

I found this while perusing an article about A-Rod
I've always known, and probably now confirmed, that the best advice for poker isn't about poker at all.

That quote kind of like woke me up.

The secret to card games is indeed getting a shit load of hands in.

So, I proposed myself a few things.


I've been up, down, up again, way up, then very down in my online poker "career". I've done a lot, done a little, but because of things beyond my control, I have very little to show for it.

This will change. So, I will use today, as the simbolical link between old me and new me.

What will change? Well, not much. Except, that since I've gone over the strategy aspects, and then the mental aspects (including discipline, focus and patience), now I will focus on the work ethic. Get a shitload of hands in. Day in day out. On multiple sites. Doing multiple types of games.


Why? Well, I'll base myself on people my age who made it big, including Federer, Justin, Kanye, Gavin, and Ochoa. These people did not sit back and relax, and money flowed in! No, they worked their asses off day in day out until they were at the top of their game. And when they finally got to the top of their game, they did not rest on their laurels.
So will I.



And a promise: The first time I have back-to-back +5K months, I will consider myself balla enough, and I will not have women in my avatar again.

I'll change it into this one, and keep this theme:



And another promise: since I am a highly superstitious individual, post 1627 will be the last one I make outside the commune. DUCY?

And a third promise; at some point, I will be chasing Supernova. Solely for the purpose of getting a shitload of electronics of the stars store . If I don't start around June this year, I will start January next year.

nh dont be results orientated. Good to here you're going to be getting more hands in, I also suggest focusing on one game mainly. I'm not saying it should def be nlhe but I think continuing to learn more games will stunt your growth in being able to think more deeply in your main game.

I haven't played a hand in the last week or so. Too many things to do, no time left.
But I have played some dominoes. Its amazing the similarities between dominoes and poker, both in odds and mindset, ability to withstand pressure and misleadings, and now I remember why i started playing online cards in the first place.
I'll try to log in some hand of cards today, and see how that goes after a relatively long layoff. i need to get my rhythm back.

I've been running pretty bad lately, and then, I've been playing worse.

Its unbelievable the amount of times I would get my money in good, only to lose to the 2-outer or whatever. If a flush would be able to hit, even if I have a set, the flush outs that would fuck me would come on the river.
This set of similar occurences has effects on me.

But seriously it sounds like you're tilting. Stop playing after the SnG you're on now and evaluate your play over the past few days. I think you will find that much more profitable and productive in the long run.

I would ask for a beer but I've already had enough Relax man.... Shit happens lots in poker, just make sure it doesn't affect your play or it'll take longer than neccessary to turn it around.

I was talking with Eric "Sheets" Haber the other day, in the midst of a frustrating run in tournament poker. I had a few good runs but couldn't even get to final tables. I was in need of a kick in the pants and a nice confidence boost. Talking with Sheets did both of those for me. It wasn't a long conversation; it started at 9:03pm and ended at 9:06pm. The following few comments that he made to me were completely inspiring:



Sheets (9:05:36 PM): ...u are a + ev player....

Sheets (9:05:51 PM): but that only happens if u play enough to smooth out variance.

Sheets (9:06:14 PM): just play good...dont worry about winning or losing...

Sheets (9:06:17 PM): the winning will come



That's when I had a poker epiphany. I know that I'm a +EV player; I have the long-term results to prove it. But for as long as I've been playing this game, I've measured my daily success monetarily. It's okay if I want to measure my poker success over a long period of time financially because that's what's going to tell me whether or not I can actually play this game at a high level. Over this extended period of time, I've proven to myself and to others that I'm a +EV player, and I'm sure that a ton of you also have long term results saying the same. Yet, on a daily basis, on one of those days where nothing is going your way, where your poker account ends lower than it started, what can we possibly do? We've played our best, but the poker day is a failure -- or is it?


The epiphany: the success of a poker day for a proven +EV poker player should never be measured monetarily. Rather, the success of a poker day should be measured by how close you feel you've come to playing your absolute best poker game.


Often, during one of those days where you're getting crushed, we sway from playing our best games. We tilt. We stop registering for tournaments. How many days have you had where you wake up planning a full day of poker and are done two or three hours later? It's just so frustrating and seemingly hopeless that there's no point in playing anymore...right?


Wrong. Every hand at every table is a new hand. If you play your +EV game constantly, never wavering, like Sheets said: the winning will come. Sadly, more often than not (for tournament players like myself), we end the day down money. Anyone at any given time can luckbox a tournament or go on the heater of a lifetime. Even the best players can go on super tilt or play their C or D game and end up winning. I've won a tournament or two where I've literally TRIED to bust out of it. I've won tournaments because I got hit in the face with the deck. I've won tournaments where I've felt like I didn't even have to work or stress. Then there's days like yesterday and today, where I unquestionably played my A game, grinding out the beats, coolers, missed draws and lost races in every tournament to lose around $3,000 over two days.


So, I ask you, what would you consider a more successful day: A day where you win the PokerStars Sunday Million, or a day where don't cash any tournaments? The easy answer is the day you win the Sunday Million. However, that may not necessarily be the correct answer. Some horrible players have won that tournament at the same time some of the best players in the world didn't cash a single tournament that day. That doesn't mean that those horrible Sunday Million winners played better than everyone else, or that they had a more successful day than the top professionals that didn't cash a single tournament. Meanwhile, I'm sure a ton of +EV players that lost a lot of money on yet another Sunday, bloody Sunday, were unsatisfied or downright angry at their results.


We hear it every time with individual hands; you want to make +EV decisions. If you would've flopped the nuts with seven-deuce, that doesn't mean you should have played it. If you folded JJ preflop and would've ended up hitting a set and cracking aces, you still made a good decision. We judge poker hands on estimated value and the correct plays. You should never ever play results-oriented poker. I think the same thing goes for poker on a daily, weekly, or even monthly basis. If you're a +EV player, satisfaction at the end of the day should not come from being up money. Satisfaction at the end of the day should come from knowing that you played phenomenal poker. Playing your best poker given every chance you get, as a +EV player, should give you your satisfaction. You know that this is what will get you the results you desire over the long term. Obviously it would be nice to win the Sunday Million, but if you did it after making some poor decisions and getting your money in poorly often, you shouldn't really consider the day a success. You should be happy as hell because you're $200,000 richer, but you shouldn't necessarily be happy with your poker day.


After talking with Sheets, I've begun to start measuring my daily success with a grading scale in order to battle variance. In a game that can be so demoralizing, where your down-days are usually going to outnumber your up-days, it makes perfect sense. Why measure your daily success monetarily, if you know you're playing your +EV A game? Over these past two days where I've lost $3,000, why should I be mad and frustrated as hell? Why should the two and three-outers, runner-runner straights and flushes, countless number of races lost, numerous draws missed and every cooler bring me down? I know that if I play like this every day, I will win plenty of money over the long haul. The only way for that to happen is to battle through variance.


Thanks to Sheets, I've had this poker epiphany. It's something that I strongly recommend every +EV poker player reading this to take to heart. Every day that you wake up planning to play your A game and the poker sites seem to be doing everything to detract you from it, just remember what should satisfy you at the end of the day: giving yourself an A. It's up to you to earn that A, and the only way to do so is to play your best every hand that's dealt to you. Considering tournament poker will result in losing days more often than winning days, why stress yourself out and be angry when none of it is your fault? Take the facts and math to heart: +EV is +EV, and an A grade at the end of the day will make you money in the long run.

The supermarket, it seems, is the best place to pick up chicks. They are not travelling in packs there, they are usually defenseless, or with useless guards, such as sisters/brothers and or pa & ma.

Now, it is quite argueable if pa or ma are really defenseless, but in my experience, they are nowhere near as -EV for us hunters than their fellow females.

In my travels to this concrete-with-carts jungle, last week, I again confirmed my theory.

I went to the bakery department in a supermarket to ask for a special kind of bread, which they usually hold in stock. I couldn't find any, so I looked for somebody who worked there to ask for the bread. It was 10AM or so, and this specific supermarket is quite far amway from where i live, so I haven't been here in ages.

So I look for an attendant and I can't find any. I look and look around, and then I see some chick (who works there, ldo) stacking the bread stand. I ask her, "excuse me, you got casino loaf in this stack"?

She turns around and smiles. She only did that. Just a smile.
It was kinda like the most beautiful and fucking hypnotizing smile I've ever seen, and I've seen many. So beautiful, genuine, innocent and naughty, so many adjectives rolled together in one smile.

I'm usually composed, but there was a certain something very special about that girl. She was slender, had nice tits and what I first noticed, a genunely sizeable ass. I noticed how she actually looked afterwards, for some reason.

Yeah, I used to have real issues too with girls who were too beatiful in my opinion. But then, I got a pretty big band of girfriends (actually, friends who happened to be girls), and well, suffice to say I'm not that shy anymore.
I handle myself much more easily in front of nice girls now, and girls, apparently, are quite attracted to confidence.



I'm setting aside a one day a week in which I'll play nothing but tourneys. I'll set it to be about 5 - 8 tourney's, 2 to 3 tables, on various sites. This day will probably be Sunday.
I have a love/hate relationship with SNG's, which I now consider very fucking robotic (despite having made the majority of my first roll, as in pre rl shit, playing $5's, $10's, and occasional $20's.) I can't care less about them now, but in trying to regaain proper play, I'll make a commitment to play at least 1 (one) per week.
Yup, just 1.
Other days have been assigned to cash already.

I'm honing my C-game atm, which i'd say is playing tired and unfocused. I want to stop bleeding the way I do when I play like this. Yes, its counterproductive to play like this, but its all part of my prolonged training and preparation to properly pwn without making crucial mistakes.
How? By playing in this state of mind at limits I can afford to spew carelessly at, which I consider currently to be 10NL.


I have to double up to reach daven around approx. 5K, so we can make a proper prop bet about who will reach 25K first (since, apparently, our immediate goal is the same, which is "Sticking it to The Man and his 9 to 5s". This is easier at 400NL+, but you can do it playing 200NL overrolled as well.)
I still have some work left to do, so I cannot really *start engines and roll* like I want to do. I have problems in concentrating hard on more than one thing at the time. But I love to multitask, but if I have to concentrate to do well, I prefer to put all efforts into a single instance.

Shot time. Careful, it's considered fuel





During the timespan between the 1st post here, and this 1600th post, I have seen myself mature from an innocent and naïve kid who thought that straight beats flush, once he actually learned wtf a flush was to a mofo bastard that stacks people for fun.
During my "previous run" or "roll" if you wish, I reached great heights. I saw myself as the next up-and-coming god of poker, huds were for pussies, I bluffed and semibluffed left and right. I had to wthdraw all of my previous roll to pay, obviously, for some very unforeseen and foreseen real life shit. I am thankful of having that money, pretty significant for me at that time (even though, today I see on full tilt the Rail Heaven table throwing around with my whole previous roll in 10 big bets, sigh)
I decided to rebuild my game from the ground up, taking care of every leak before its ingrained into me when I become a bigshot, and the errors will be more costly then.
You have to think about my game like some kind of nebula: full of cosmic matter, but still in essence shapeless and worthless. I just spend such a long time setting shape and essence into it, and the Jack Galaxy is almost ready.
Today, I still think HUDs are for pussies, and I am made of iron now. Humble and not proud, and still not totally fearless, but strong and tougher, I should probably change my forum name to Tony Starks. I steal orphan pots. I value bet thin. I assign ranges and act upon reads. I understand timely aggression. I understand board texture. I understand position. I now "know" when to bluff. I have developed an uncanny "feel" for the game. I know who I am up against, at all times. I am tighter than before, more aggressive in the right spots than before, not ever getting out of line, but only optimal.
I am not playing "Tight, Aggressive Poker" , but rather "pure poker". I see shit now. I don't go after stats, I'm not a baseball player. I don't give a shit about my RBI, Strike Out, and Left on Base percentage. I read souls.
The one leak I have right now, is that I am still not totally fearless. So when my soulreading fails, i am sorely out of luck. I am working hard on this.
And I am not a 1-trick pony. I do omaha/ omaha8, stud, razz, horse even, limit, no limit, pot limit whatever. Just not NLO/NLO8: that's not a game, that's trappers paradise. Good luck to anybody foolish enough to play that. And no 5CD Draw cuz I'm not a cowboy.

I have three beautiful women in my life right now that care for me (they don't know about each others existence, but whatever). I had a lot of friends, but my friend count seemed to have dwindled these days, traitors have revealed themselves and true ones have also revealed themselves. I have gotten enough of the style of music I like (lounge, lo-fi, house, bossa) , to last me 3 to 4 lifetimes. I have not gotten onto MSN for the past 2 or 3 months at least.

Right, now, on to my leaks. One of these is my tourney game during mid-game in large tourneys. I suck bigtime here. My early game is pretty much perfect, since I pretty much always reach the first break. However, afterwards, I suck bigtime.
I have been playing at least 2 small-buyin tourneys daily to remedy this. It seems like I have to increase my "gamble".
I don't want to win donkaments by getting lucky, rather, I want to now exactly wtf I am doing and start recognizing the donkament stages better.
Also, I'm tougher, but not fearless enough.
I still do not want to move up. I want to destroy 25NL for a massive winrate first. I am technically rolled for like 50NL, and maybe even a thin 100NL. The plan is to move up to 50NL when I have 160 buyins (I can't remember the math I made to come up with this, but generally its for confidence) for it, then I'd have no excuse to play 25NL anymore. Conservative, yes, I know. If I can somehow start averaging $100 daily profit (as in $100 for my pocket, the rest for the bankroll), I'll start living off this shit and live like a king. I think this will happen around 400NL at least.
But I'm not taking shots till I'm ready. Its very, very soon though.
My final table skills are pretty sharp as well, coming from a SNG background. However, since concentrating on cash I have done poorly to cash in SNG's for some reason.

3/4 shot amaretto almond liqueur
1/4 oz 151 proof rum
1/2 glass beer

1. Fill a shot glass about 3/4 full with amaretto and top it off with enough 151 proof rum to be able to burn.

2. Place the shot glass in another glass and fill the outer glass with beer (right up to the level of the shot glass).

3. Ignite the amaretto/151 and let it burn for a while. Blow it out (or leave it burning if you're brave - not recommended) and slam it. Tastes just like Dr. Pepper.

I always liked chicks pics, when I was a kid (8 years old or something ike that) I used to draw up chicks I've seen in magazines and whatnot from memory. Oddly enough, it was always beautiful women. Never men, never superheros, no houses, rainbows, animals, and other kinds of shit. Only chicks.
I always wanted to be someone big in the model photography business [think: playboy, fhm, smooth etc.], or in the designer clothes business. I have not had the opportunity to pursue this, so instead I got real good in photo editing.

I'm setting up a design business, as in graphic design (well, its something) (also, I plan to, at some point, to support myself playing only pokah. but we have to get there first) along with a friend of mine currently. It offers a lot of freedom, as long as you meet deadlines. But I'm getting second thoughts, because people keep coming up with jobs they needed done yesterday, and they do not want to pay according to the contractor's pyramid. Its getting on my nerves.


But making avatars is really easy. Only find a pic, crop it, make a few color adjustments if necessary, and voila.
The following, for instance, only took me about a minute to make on average:






So, if you ever need a good avatar made, about anything, don't hesitate to lemme know.
