fuck sake, lost $152. actually thought i was down $200 just before i typed this. argh now im reasonably pissed off.

Cardmans is running away with an early lead. anyway no more forcing myself to play.

had my exam tonight, im fairly happy with how it went even tho i did next to nothing for it

Hmm I have been thinking and I know im way overrolled for 100NL 6max. So even tho im running meh-like at the moment if im feeling good tonight ill try 200NL (have forced myself to play tired last 2 sessions). I have the feel for 100NL now and while my stats arent in line with the standard rates i may aswell try it anyway and continue to improve there.

I only 4 table coz more than that seems crazy to me right now, but my reads have increased a 100 fold tho so im enjoying it too.

i gotta ask more questions of hands and post more hands here too. just the only time i get to post is when in work and dont have HHs with me.

Wow well i finished a decent shot at 200NL SH tonight with some mixed results. Found myself down $280 at one point, of course this made cardman even further ahead LOL. Not nice to be catching up when you just begin a session.

Funny kinda thing happened, i 4 tabled 200NL with 1100 i think in the bank. not good BR Mgt and i tried top up at a table, insufficient funds!!! just quickied a neteller and back in the game.

LOL. Funny stories. But that sucks. Sorry man.

The converter acted funny... you lost stack sizes and the cards didn't show up (I edited them so they did). You need to select FTR as your output format and check the "Show Stacks (NL and PL)" box and click "Save Settings".

gf was aggro means she was in foul humour, cranky, or aggrevaited.

I dont think Prima 200NL have any special players oveall.

oh i finished up a buyin yesterday tho, thanks for adding in the detail zook. i thought i previewed them oops

    1. I like.

    2. I play this slower. Flat call flop, raise turn probably.

    3. I raise the flop, there are a lot of cards you don't want to see hit the turn, and if he 3-bets AI, you can find a fold. Turn is weird, do you think he's calling with hands you beat? TT or A9 maybe, if he thinks you're a big bluffer, but he has to fold missed overs here. If you think HE's a big bluffer and has missed overs here, why not call and let him try to hit his 6-outer on the river?

    4. Re-raise a lot more pre-flop. 4x is my standard oop. Flop is good.

    5. Ok, I guess. Scary river, but you have to call imo.

    6. I'm probably c/c'ing the turn. As played, maybe folding to the turn raise and definitely folding the river. The turn minraise does not say AT, and you have the worst good hand on a really scary board.
  27. #177
    1. bet less on the river, i'll let you figure out why.

    3. what are u beating? You just allowed opponent to maipulate you exactly how he wanted to.

    5. check behind turn even though he's a fish i think.
    Check out the new blog!!!
  28. #178
what a load of fucking bollox, im at the juiciest ever tables and cant hit a flop to save my life or a felt TP vs masive calling stations for them to win. mF!

I might bet turn in hand 1, but I don't think check is bad. Why do you think this is bad? Nice river suckout....

Against this op, either lead or checkraise hand 2 I think. Give up on turn if called. I think check calling two streets here isn't great. River suckout again?

I give up on turn in hand 3. No need to escalate a limped pot without at least 2 pair.
I sure can't call that river, and you didn't have odds on turn IMO.

I think you have to give up to the turn checkraise or push over it in hand 4. It's obvious he wants to go to showdown, and I don't think K5 will win it unless you get a diamond.

Not sure what you beat in hand 5 or what the push is accomplishing. This to me is a hand where you want to control the pot. Broadway boards suck to build a pot with when you have TPTK.....

Hand 6 is tough, and I probably call too. you aren't getting 3:1, and I think you are beat more than 25% of the time. I think you ran into rivered flush or str8. It would take discipline to fold this....

Hand 7 is a repeat maybe?

Didn't get to play last night, but plan on getting plenty of hands in tonight. What's the score now? I am +$60......

i wouldnt disagree but i think id miss value vs this guy by checking. once i hit im confident to play for stacks seriously. river sucked when opp bet out tho, i guess i COULD fold but.....................i do think i should folded here in hindsight.
Zook, thx for your comments too. On the A8 hand where i flopped a FH i think calling shows so much strength that i think raising maybe better. i think ive got to play the hand like opp has 88 or an A

Actually these seem to be pretty much all my main hands.

Mentally im still ok but this stretch is a little tough for me, even saying that is a bit much really. just a tiny hint of the feeling i gotta study more. i usually get to read every morn b4 work but im so busy in work i gotta go work str8 away. i think i may just need a bit of revision on concepts mostly.

unless they are the type of players that are going to flat call with a Q in this spot, bet less because we get more value from worse hands and we get more bluffs. I'd say bet like $40, u may get some really weak calls and most people raise u with a Q. Shoving is horrid unless the players are really passive.

    3. what are u beating? You just allowed opponent to maipulate you exactly how he wanted to.

as nitty as it is i think i fold here too on riv, this guy either hit two pair, a straight, or missed a fd. Teh ladder seems unlikely, considering his bet is like 1/3rd the pot. Turn is a bet idk why i said check.

Im getting so frustrated right now that im not beginning sessions with my usual confidence. This is a feeling ive never really felt before, i usually pass it off and am able to just move on but 200NL 6max is hurting me. Im somewhere just below BE. I think players are playing back at me till i find they have the goods. Im sick of been floated when i dont have a crazy high c/c rate. AARGRGHH, i may of moved up to fast from 100NL and just am unable to deal with the pace or something (i dunno). i cannot blame variance. i think i gotta leave the game for a while and regroup. i dont like the fact i havent really study at all lately which i know is a huge leak. TOP here i come.

what a difference a few days makes!!

Im feeling positive again. I havent played cash since sunday. I played Taipan HU on Monday morning and won 3:0 on games, it was probably the first time I had a hell of alot of fun playing poker in awhile and i think its helped me get positive again. Ive read up on a few things on 2+2 that made me think abit more. if im in the mood ill take another swing at 200NL. god ive been around the 6.5K-7.2K mark for a long time it feels.

Also it could be important to go between different games sometimes i guess. Like maybe play a session of SNGs once a month or whatever or a few MTTs a month just to mix it up. I dont really figure Cash a real grind yet but stepping back from it has helpe (lol even if it was only 1-2 days off).

id love to trade HH with fellow 200NL 6max'ers and review each others. PM if interested.

The most important thing to remember in these stretches is that if you play correctly as much as possible, you will make a comeback. It is extremely discouraging to get your money in ahead and get drawn out on time after time, or to make stupid mistakes that you KNOW are mistakes. I have had many stretches where my BR fluctuates and trends down and it is mentally draining, for sure. For the longest time it seemed like I couldn't break the $5K barrier, then it was the $6K barrier. Now if I hadn't withdrawn it would be $8K in my roll.

Keeping your confidence is tough, but it is key!

Glad to see you are on your way back, no matter how badly I want to win our bet!

thx for that post cman, couldnt of come at a better time. im down $230 tonight. i played way way too tight tonight but i couldnt find cards. seems like i have one big win and many medium losses. I think i played but started to get frustrated tonight so im finishing up now. got stacked with KK vs AA so thats the main reason im down. I seem to end every session lately down 1 buyin which i guess tolerable enough.

i was thinking seriously (maybe tilting) for moving down to 100NL. i dont think ive truely adjusted to 6max yet but since ive the BR for 200NL and think im playing well enough then i should stay up and im not attached that much to whats at stake.

If you can stop when you know you are frustrated, you are a step ahead of me. I so often think I can "get it back against these idiots". Then it snowballs.

One other thing I have tossed around to a few people here....once you get used to the aggression at 6 max, your FR game only gets better......so you might try throwing a couple of FR tables in.

I'm off to dinner and beer...tty tomorrow.

In regards to the downswing you seem to be in, i would try very, very hard to stay positive. From my perspective, it is quite amazing that you were playing 10-25NL just a few months ago and are at 200NL now. Just one thing to remember when things aren't clicking.

Also, when i am losing i try to think of the money in terms of buy ins. I can relate to the moments when you are -$500+ and you don't see it turning around. But really, it is only a relatively small swing (-2.5BI) and pretty soon you will have a +$700 night, and then another, and another.

Remember results are irrelevant (when you aren't winning big)

thx guys. i checked my stats last night im down 4 buyins over 7K hands at 200NL. its nothing i should worry about really i just havent had a good run great but ive also alot of improvement to make. My postflop skills are solid-ish but need a hell of alot of improvement.

    ill play again tonight.

Ah its a crazy world. i dropped down to 100NL and won $176. iwa sup to $250 and down to $25 at some stages.

Ive gone from being a 19/13 TAG at 200NL to a 25/19 LAG at 100NL. Ive never played a LAG type game really but it worked. The gulf in quality seemed so much different but the level of sharpness and awareness i played with felt so good. I spewed off aload of chips at times but i did feel they'd help later to get paid. I really tried to experiment at times coz i do want to be a LAG player, its alot more fun.

In nutshell i ran over the table. Will post some hands soon.

Ugh i dont feel so good this morning in work!!! Played from 9:30pm-2am last night. I sat down and felt like paying abit but had trouble deciding what game i wanted to play:

-Didnt want to autopilot 100NL FR 8 Table
-PLO was a factor but i like just playing fr an hour max there as i learn the game but still try play NL

Battefield 6max didnt look inviting so I threw 2G's on PartyPoker t see what all the fuss about softness there is like. Opened up 200NL 6max (zook said i should stick at 200NL so i tried it again) and i pwned it for +$500. Was up $800 then down to $133 trying to get my money in the middle vs one specific fish but lost 2 HUGE pots vs him.

Lets hope this is the turn around coz everyone seems to be a bit down lately. All suffering a bad run together.

    lol at GMML

Played last night and dropped $200 buyin almost immediately. ost $300 total then within 300 hands and left. Argh.

Im in such a limbo pace right now regards what to do poker wise. I do need to purchase things out of my roll soon so maybe grinding 100NL FR would be better for the next few months.

Have to pay for car insurance which is very very expensive in Dublin. First year cost 1700 euros, this year i hope around 1300 euros.

Also last night I said id get a place with the gf along with some friends so thats gonna cost for the inital setup. argh

i guess what im saying is i might have to hold off on improving and risking some BR and just go for less variance but almost gauranteed profit.
Jman: every time the action is to you, it's an opportunity for you to make the perfect play.
  64. #214
Im in the same boat. I have to withdraw money every month to pay for my bills, only like $500 though since my gf pays for most of the bills. Thats one of the main reasons im switching to cash games so that the variance isnt so high. You get your vent figured out yet? Im on now.
  65. #215
no i didnt get it sorted yet.

im in work again. PM me your AIM name tho, i havent set it up on the work PC yet.

THese are once off type payments but dont want it denting my BR too much so if i just work on profit than improving it puts me in a better spot after paying for the things to actually begin where i left off

EDIT: then i went and lost $75 playing PLO. Gamboolllllll, I moved up to $50PLO. PLayed 2 tables or 25PLO and 2 for 50PLO. lost a buyin at both tables mostly due to only 2 hands. got it allin PF 3 way action at 25LO table with AA9x one suit and another was AI on flop with FD/gutshot/think i had 2 pair (at least a pair anyway) vs top set. i hit FD in turn but opp filled up on river, c'est la vie!

Hand 2 you have not other choice but to bet turn, unless you thought villain would bet (hopefully push) if checked to. Even then I snapcall.

Hand 1 was rough. I did read somewhere, though that the only card that hits a person harder than a flop with a T in it is a flop with an A in it (did that make sense?). That being said, I think you could avoid pushing. Maybe try for cheaper showdown.
