the man crush is justified, you are a great player, and part of being a great player I think is having a big ego, or else the downswings crush you. I'm just jealous because you found poker when you were 20(ish) and fresh, and I am old and crusty (29). Had I played in school I could have avoided years of sitting in the cube (I like to think).

you could just beat 25nl for like 10k hands then 50nl then move to 100nl within 2-4 weeks (considering you play like 5-10k hands a week) Play at 100nl and under is ultra-soft.

obviously the skill is present to play at NL100, BUT ur right u lack experience and mental confidence, which are 2 very important and necessary elements needed to play top shelf poker. i would say NL100 with $3500 total for bankroll so that means u can bank $2500 as a emergency/ courtie chillin' fund...lol. BUT i would recommend u start playing at the NL25 and build ur confidence up and progress to NL50 then NL100, i can not tell u how many hands to play or how long u should stay at each level ONLY you can tell when u are mentally comfortable in moving up. Plus with ur bankroll u have a nice cushion to lay back on so dont be so results orientated just mentally strong!!! Move Up and Rock On!!! |

That $55 90-man FT hand - I know exactly what you mean. The key here is to value your hand with regard to the board, not as a stand-alone hand (two pair! Woot!). Was there any made hand on that board that didn't beat yours? Anyway I know I'm not actually saying anything useful but time after time I do that same thing - like calling a river raise with QQ on a TTxKx board last night. I mean Jesus, am I ever ahead here, ever? |

move to cash games. tourneys seem too random. a solid style multitabling is much better. and experience gets rewarded.

I want to move to cash games and I will probably get my feet wet soon. I really do love tourney poker though, that's what's stopping me from changing it up now. We'll see what happens ...

I'm about rolled for 200NL but there's no way in hell I'm playing that. I'll either start at 25NL or 50NL and move up when I feel like I can beat the games. I'll probably enlist the help of a couple cash game players on here before I go ahead with any of this, though.

Shorthanded or full ring?

That's a good question. Whenever I've read about FR vs shorthanded, people always say to play full first and then work up to short. I'm assuming I should do the same thing? How does it work when you're moving up though? Say I start at 25NL full ring and then I switch to 6 max and can win money at that. Then do I go to 50NL and play FR there, or 6 max?

i would beat full ring up till 200nl playing a 14vpip/7pfr nit style to get your cash/tourney kinks out. Then open your range a little until you are playing something like 18/10 aggro nit style, then play the exact same style at 6 max. Start 6 max at 100nl. 100nl six max is probably the softest ring game in existing compared to the money being splashed around.

Courtie, you can take out half your roll and still be overrolled to play 50NL. Best of both worlds - you have $2k to spend on living expenses while being more than rolled for what you'll be playing. |

Play cashgames, and then use profits to now and then buy into tournaments now and then, then you have a steady income and still have the chance to make a huge score now and then when you buy into a tournament. That's what I |

also, playing lots of ring games and clearing bonuses gets you free tourney tickets on most of the ongame sites (hollywood, pokerroom, holdem) etc. you get points as you clear the bonus. use those points and enter a few 30+3's and 50's that way.
