Although, I dont really agree with your idea of "copycat" posting being a negative thing. If I'm a noob and I post a question I'm delighted if I get 6 respected replies all pointing out the same thing or giving me the same answer to my question. Simply because each post reinforces what the first poster said and adds more weight to his thoughts.

Also you speak of how we should post really deep and meaningful hypothetical questions. I would just like to point out the dificulty that a new player can have trying to do this. Everyones knowledge levels of the game are different and just because a queestion a noob might ask is easy for you to answer doesn't mean that it is not an extreemely thought provoking quetion to him and many other newer posters who are reading the forum. Neither does it mean that the noobs question lesser deserving of replies.

I too would like to point out the copy cat post are not bad. I value them as I suspect others do. No only do they reinforce a message but they also state the point in a slightly different way or point out other reasons why such action would be good.

Also, look at it this way. If a person is realy new to this forum and gets a reply from a member he doesn't know how much weight to put in that member. He hasn't been around long enough to know the value to put on that member. If he sees 4 posts all telling him to do the same thing then that is pretty clear cut. Later, when he knows the members, he may be able to get the same value out of one members post.

I disagree with him about the copycat posts when you first start out its nice to see a buncha people agreeing with somone else so you know the persons right.

I do agree with him on the point that people need to post a why when they say push call fold blah blah. "You can give a man a fish and he will eat for a day or you can teach a man to fish and he will eat for the rest of his life" or somethig like that. Just telling somone what to do only files in thier mind ofr that situation telling somone why something is right and htye can take that knowledge and apply it to other plays and moves.

I think I fumbled the copycat issue, what I was trying to say is that when agreeing with someone elses opinion, try to add to it. There is always more to discuss. Elaboration is key. If your an inexperienced player, agree to the extent that you can, if you know the answer, and if you cannot add anything, try to ask some followup questions. I really hate seeing posts with "Did i do this right?" followed by seven yes' or no's. What I would prefer to see is responses with "yes I think you played this right but did you consider...?" or if a noob responds: "That sounds correct but what about...?"

Irisheyes, thank you for the thought provoking reply, there was no way I could encompass the entire issue. When I talk about deep hypothetical questions, I give fnord as an example. I don't expect new players to think on this level, but I encourage them to try, for this is the fastest and most thorough way to improve your game. A hypothetical question is simply discussing a concept of the game, for example, we could have a great thread discussing reverse implied odds, which is one of the least understood facets of the game.

Another note, the post was mostly directed to some of the more experienced players as a way of answering noobs questions. A new player will always ask similar questions, but the experienced players can do much better than saying "Raise KK in early position."

I liked this post, several reasons.
Pointing out a poster like fnord. I like these questions they are ggod for my persoanl game as i think ive hit the stage where im starting to think more in depth about the game and how to play it. I wish some of our other big posters would post similar ones. As yet i cant think 'deep' enough to ask these sorts of questions, but i do like to offer an opinion answering them
Second, ill sit on the fence over copycat posters. Often i have small thinks to add to others posts or slightly differing conceptions so while i dont like to see lots of copies i think we have to have them as they all have slight variations. But niely pointed out, i think im rpobably guilty in a few areas too.
Overall nice post, if this is the quality to expect them ill be reading every post in the hope of gleaming more info so please keep the though processes coming
