it was an epic poker weekend.. i played 12k hands between 6pm friday and 3am sunday! I obviously locked up platinumstar, cleared my bonus, and withdrew the money i needed for tuition. however i broke even over this marathon session, and the main reason that's disappointing is because there were a couple significant avoidable errors.
1. felted AQs for 80bb versus a played i had identified as a fish. only had 10 hands on him though so i think this was spew.
2. felted A7s for 110bb SB vs BB versus a guy who had been 3betting me a lot. i 3bet him and he 4bet me, the first time he'd done this. playing back by 5bet shoving is a weapon i don't really need in my arsenal at 50nl.
that's what i remember off the top of my head, but then also a half dozen 20bb pots where i missed a bet or shouldn't have bet. but because of the cashout, realizing my errors, and finishing my marathon session playing my A game, i'm still happy with how the weekend turned out.
since i began playing online poker, i've played on multiple sites on multiple comps, and on numerous databases i've long since lost. it's generally made accurate record keeping impossible for me, so when people ask me how much i've made i just give them my best estimate. then yesterday i suddenly had the realization that if i went through my online bank statements since i started playing, i would get an accurate estimate of my career poker profits. I was curious and excited to see how close my expectation of my career profits would be to my actual profits... in my head i've figured i was up at least 10k. The results of my fact finding mission were... since late 2006 i have a net profit of 7.5k. the difference in my head versus the actual number isn't surprising; i just thought i wouldn't pull this sort of ego hyping on myself! it's also worth noting that at least 4k of that profit has almost certainly come from bonuses. my interpretation of that information is that, as a result of inconsistent play and bad bankroll management, i have been a mediocre poker player. for the thousands of hours i've invested in studying and playing, it's inspiring in that i must start playing great to make all that invested time worth my while. on the less serious side, i've had a lot of fun with poker overall, even if the great results never come.
all in all a very good poker weekend. i'm still comfortably rolled for 50nl, so tonight if i'm still fresh after my business is taken care of i'll put in another session.
Run good everyone
