in late june a mate messaged me this:
    I have a thought/plan.

Are you keen to try in a couple of weeks to walk from town over/around the silver peaks from 5pm friday till 5pm Saturday non stop?

    July 13 - 14th

Friday, 5pm, and we started walking into the sunset. Middle of winter, forecast of minus 5 degrees celsius overnight, big plans. Saturday, 4pm. Still walking, having been some pretty cool places. Saturday, 5pm. Beer tasted good.

Interesting adventure/experience. Body was a little tired on sunday...

in other news, inthe last two months I have played more hands HU with Jennysmom than with any other player. Hang on, isn't he crushing the black=card pro leaderboard? yeah, true, good point. Is that kinda like renton came into irc and asked someone to start tables at 2-4 with hiim a few years back, and i was happy to oblige? yeah, hmm, similar.... games are good? dunno. Games are heavy.

in other news, i saw redzill4r sitting the other day, but he sat out and the tables broke before i could get in on the action

i'm learning heaps about fishing. Went out yesterday arvo, and again this morning.
Tonight's big decision is whether to eat fresh salmon, fresh trout, or both.

played some poker over the last couple of weeks. gambool etc.
probably going to play yet more poker over the next couple of weeks, cos, ya know, bills to pay

    life's good.

    Hi Dav,
I'm interested to know what you expected his range to be here so that you thought the shove would be profitable?

    Hi Dav,

good question, and I'm not at all sure whether shove > call in this spot.

His 3b range at this point seemed to be atc. His fold to 4b was 100%. Preflop and my flat might well have been a mistake (vs 4b/get it in). Dynamic and his play at previous tables and this one meant i thought his range after his turn bet was mostly ace hi or worse, with the occasional bit of gutter-trash/8x/5x thrown in. I'd seen him slow down with made hands postflop (top pair/second pair type of things). I figured he'd call at least some of his 5x trash and ace hi, and on the rare occasions he called better i'd have six outs. I also figured he was reasonably likely to get it in behind on the turn with so much already committed, whereas on the river he'd more likely fold hands that i beat.

or maybe i just got excited to turn a gutshot so decided to jam cos i was sick of the dynamic and figured he was fos most of the time (and the rest of the time i had some outs). Plus i really had no idea what to do on a bunch of river cards...

probably some combo of the two.
