so many good lives out there bro. None of us who post on this forum should really be complaining about ours - we're all educated and not destitute = we have opportunities. Maybe you should have done more/less (choose which best applies) coke though

how else could i afford to live off poker re cost of living in NZ - it's full of inconsistencies. Outdoor recreation is incredibly accessible and cheap. Golf is crazy, we have hundreds of golf courses - like, one for pretty much every town of over 500 people - and standards obviously vary. Green fees are crazy low by world standards, golfing holidays through NZ are a great idea for anyone who is into golf. It's only a few minutes walk for me to the tee of the 9th hole of this course, casual green fees are $30, $20 if you get a multi-trip pass. There are a bunch of courses that are club run and where there are no fulltime employees. Some of them are even set in kinda farm situations, meaning electric fences around the greens to keep out the sheep. If your entertainment is mostly technology based then you've got problems though, most electronics retail at about 50% above their cost in north america. And if your entertainment is buying houses... we have one of the worst housing affordability indices (median salary vs median house cost) in the western world.
As an aside to this, I still don't understand why poker refugees seeking haven outside the USA headed to Asia instead of NZ or Australia.

I had a close look at this today, 5 days since i started the brew. It's a seething, bubbling mess of optimism. Specific gravity has dropped from 1.110 to 1.060 so it's at about 8% alcohol by volume right now and tastes incredible - it could do well as low alcohol dessert wine already. I have high hopes for how it is going to end up!
Held a dinner party for 10 people on Friday evening, after taking two days off poker cos breaks are good when the sun is shining. The garden isn't at the point of providing all food yet, but it's started. Once my back is fully recovered i'll be going fishing some too so there are a few fully hunted/grown meals to look forward too later this summer and into autumn. Especially once i get some beer and wine bottled!
some photos
1 = potatoes freshly dug from the garden
2 = some point during dinner food prep, everything is from the garden = fresh lettuce of various types, parsley, thyme, potatoes, radishes, chives. Nice.
