    cheers all

poker thus far in 2013 has had some solid volume, some silly variance, and some standard spots. FTP bonus is clearing. Stars stellars are clearing. Poker balances are doing something. I should be able to afford to eat this month...

rehab is going great, my girlfriend drove into town for work today and i walked home after i'd spent enough time reading caffeine. Walked over 5km without any pain or any problems. That's pretty fucking awesome. I've been organising a friend's stag party for a couple of weeks from now. A bunch of us are heading off to some smalltown nz place where i've rented a few cabins within stumbling distance of a rural bar. First arvo we'll go and play a 9 hole $5 green fee golf course, then hit food/drink/stag stuff. Next day there is talk of another golf course, but who knows. Good news is that based on today I might actually be a starter for the golf! stoked.

I started my first wine brew of the year today. A ginger wine (in the Stones ginger wine style I hope). I'm interested in how it will turn out as I've never brewed a ginger wine before. I'm sticking to a 5 litre batch cos it's pretty experimental.

Garden is thriving. Cucumbers, peas, potatoes, radishes, japanese turnips, kale, mizuna, zucchini, and herbs are all in harvest/eating mode. Tomatoes and zucchini are close to joining that fray. Stoked that i've managed to convert a big chunk of lawn into that much food in my first year of owning this house.

Bees are doing what bees do, time to add another honey box pronto before they run out of space.
bees in my garden, making me honey

I think i'm recovered enough to build a fence sometime later this week, then build a chicken coop. It was on the November to-do list, but got bumped when i broke my arse. Then I'll track down some chickens and hopefully be eating eggs from the garden too before autumn rolls around.

so only a couple of weeks ago i was off drinking for a friend's stag-do. The weekend just gone i got to dress up fancy and do whatever it is that groomsmen do = pose for photos, drink loads, not lose rings, make sure the bride and groom head bedwards together at some stage. And we didn't fuck it up. Awesome weekend at a beautiful spot. Friday we headed up early and had a huge feast hosted by the venue, saturday was a chill morning (well, for most. I went fishing and caught trout cos everyone likes fresh trout). Then a few of us met up with the groom and the photographer and started drinking whiskey at around noon. And then cocktails from 5pm, then ceremony, then party. Hellah good times.

wine in photo below: left to right = elderflower (harvested from just down the road), blackcurrant (picked from a friend's garden), stones ginger imitation. The ginger wine is about 16% alcohol by volume right now and it's pretty dry. Very drinkable already only five weeks since i started it off..., i'll rack in a little sugar tomorrow then let it sit a week or two and then see how patient i can be. I think i'll start a 20 litre batch of ginger wine sometime this month. My girlfriend and i picked a whole bunch of wild mirabella (yellow) plums on the way back from the wedding on sunday and i guess that means i'll be trying to make a plum wine next...

as for poker. Well, haven't really played that much in February and running kinda arse. So i'll be putting in some volume over the next couple of weeks.
