If you want to make money with hands you need to bet. I dont hate slowplaying that flop really because you give your opponent a chance to make a hand like a flush or think his KQ is good.

I do agress with your preflop play, Id make it atleast $1.50 and expect a caller or two. On the turn Im probably just betting out, a c/r doesnt accomplish a ton. As played river is fine, but if he were to call that hed probably call a little more.

why do you minraise pre flop?
  5. #5
Yeah reraise like you mean it preflop.. and I'd also raise a bit moreon the turn.. pot is $3 and you raise to $1, a bit tiny..
  6. #6
You have a better chance of getting bets at the flop when you give them odds to chase flushes and str8s than you do when they have missed their draw after the river. Kx bets after the flop but not the river, two spades pay to chase after the flop, but not the river. Ace quads cripples the deck, slow play small quads 2-8 leave room for slow playing because Ax, Kx, High PP will play after the river. An AAK board plays very slow unles someone catches their draw.

he opened the pot after two limpers preflop with a minraise.

    Yeah, I played this badly.
The thing is, it was the best pot AA took down all night.

Otherwise it was just pre-flop money except the time someone made a set and I took a beating.

Maybe I'm too taggy. No one wants to play with me...

Maybe you don't know how to play with them
It's not what's inside that counts. Have you seen what's inside?
Internal organs. And they're getting uglier by the minute.

Crypto can be like this a lot. Better to check back later when there are a few fish or even maniacs mixed in with the TAGs. Otherwise you spend all day taking down the blinds, getting no play with your AA and end up losing the inevitable big pot to a set (though I nearly busted a gut laughing the time I stubbornly went all in on the flop and sucked out hitting a set of aces vs. a sethunting 9/1/0.8 nit on the river. Lesson learned and I got paid).

And you never get a stack from these nits when you make a set. You'd have better luck getting blood from a stone. Maybe one day I'll be able to exploit these situations. But I can't now.

Adjust, heres what the beginner's bible says (Renton's pf post)

Starting hand strategy for tight games
I think its important, even for novices, to be able to adjust to tight or loose games. My preflop strategy in a tight game is not much different from a loose game except for a few factors:

-I open (raise first in) with all pocket pairs in all positions. As games get tighter, the ability to take away the pot on the flop with a continuation bet becomes greater. Also, if you elevate the stakes with a small pocket pair by raising preflop, you’ll have a much easier time getting all in with it after the flop, even if you are out of position when you hit your set.
-I steal the blinds more, with even weaker hands than I mentioned before.
-I reraise more preflop, with weaker hands like JJ, AQ, AJs and sometimes with total air. As games get tighter, unimproved AA and KK make less money, so the need to represent them becomes greater.
Try the open raise all pp's from all positions.. you become less of a target to get your aces cracked if you are raising 10% rather than 3% pfr.

One thing I have done on Crypto is become much more aggressive. My post-flop aggression rate from PT shows that I'm much more aggressive there than anywhere else.

I will frequently throw out a bet with nothing on the flop if everyone has checked to my blinds and take down a lot of those tiny pots.

I'll bet almost any flop checked to me these days and again win lots of small pots.

I'm currently also raising more hands pf and c-betting them. I'll solidly re-raise a min-raise pre-flop with KQo and they'll fold.
What I have to do is get better at getting out of contested pots with all but the weakest players.

Have to just remind myself that to win $10 in small pots and lose $5 giving up a big one is better than winning $10 and losing a huge $40 pot with a big hand.

I forgot I posted this. It would make a better story if he did have the 7, but sadly, no... I bet 250, and he called with the board.
