Default Why help develop your opponents?

    Hello everybody.

Have only recently registered on this forum after several months of browsing and learning and browsing and learning more.

There is a lot of quality advice on here and I am trying to absorb it all. As a result, I am developing into a half-decent poker player and I will be on a table against some of you guys soon (probably already have been).

I may be the one who takes down your stack by using a move or piece of advice that you had posted on this forum.

    So, my question is......
why do you give advice to the thousands of people like me who, without forums like this, would probably have continued throwing money into your pockets convinced that we are just unlucky.

Surely you dont want anybody else to improve 'cos YOU WANT THEIR MONEY!
    pocket Jacks eh?

    CANT WIN WITH 'EM
    CANT WIN AGAINST 'EM
    CANT FOLD 'EM

because we can all learn from each other, some obviously learn more or less, and some obviously give more advice than others, but a lot of us just like to help people. if you take a pot from me with my own move or advice then more power to you

    himself fucker.
Meh, I don't play fishes now.

When I was helping out constantly, the sea was so vast and bottomless, it seemd like all the books in the world couldnt make a dent in it.

That still may be true today.

There are 2700 people on this website, there are millions of fish all over poker sites.

Everyone you find here will probably have some sort of logic to start with, because you'd have to be intelligent and bothered enough about poker to take the time to find a quality help site like this. So we'll nurture the people that do want to improve, and the lazy fish can remain our ATMs.

Hope you enjoy your time at FTR.

Most people won't make it to the top, they don't have the patience or the dicipline. A lot of people could read the help on this forum, but not play so much. They could have knowledge without experience. People constantly improve so it will take a lot of work to get up to the good players level fast.

We need someone to take the bottom feeder fish's money, so they move up in stakes, where we take their money

Well maybe not, but i think even for the people who don't have alot to learn (although no poker player should ever stop learning) by teaching others, and analyzing play, they are improving their own play. Plus there are alot of losing players on here that still give great advice.

i learn more from giving advice than i do asking for it. if i jsut asked questions all day instead of trying to give out advice and develop my own ideas on poker topics, i would not be as far along as i am.
