No, shorty's on the left. Money flows around the table to the left and your position gives you an advantage to people on your right. Why would you want to have a positional advantage on people that you already have a mental advantage over. Shortys cannot play 'poker" and there is no such thing as a positional advantage. The very fact that they have no chips means your playing less streets and position means nothing.
And when there are two empty seats I always take the one on the right, because if I am sitting there is obviously someone on my right I feel comfortable with as a donator, why would I want someone to get a better position on said fishy by sitting between us?
Shorties on the right because they're more likely to shove. Having them to the left handcuffs you and makes you play nitty.
As for picking seats on the left, it sucks when you sit down on the seat on the right, then some loose player sits down to your left. Sitting 2 to the left of a fish isn't that bad.
