If your friend (or anyone) gives you a TV (or anything), you technically owe taxes on the "fair market value" of the gift, as the gift represents a source of material income.
Income tax, sales tax, property tax. It's the MURRICAN trinity!!!!
Save your losing lotto scratch-off tickets. You can use the losing tickets as proof of gambling losses, and reduce the net winnings on which you pay taxes.
You don't play scratch-offs? I'm sure you can still get your hands on some losing tickets if you make friends with the right people. Of course, you are moving into the tax fraud zone when you go there.
