Where to build up my aggression

I really want to get out of this tight player mindset I have, but I don't wanna get aggressive since I'll be new at it and lose a bunch of money trying.

Would it be worth it to try it in Play Money at the higher play money tables or is the play too different in play money even at the higher tables where you have to have some clue just to get that amount of chips?

Or is there another way to practice?

practice ur agression in SNGs. Bubble play is where agression wins, so you will find out real quick if your doing it right.

ohter forms of agression involve repping the flop and what not. Those skills can also be practiced very well in SNGs becuase your risk and reward is not as steep as it would be in a ring game.

Ah very true. 1 buy-in to see numerous hands if you last that long.

Yeah that's where I usually fall out in SnG's too. I'm fine playing tight in the beginning just to last, but fall out at around the bubble area.

You *want* to have aggression. You *don't* want to be loose/reckless - there's an enormous difference!

Try playing the same hands you play now, but up your bets by 50%. That's playing more aggressively. If you get called too often now, you might find it very rewarding.

If you're going to loosen up, and play more hands, remember position is everything. Remember to be perfectly prepared to fold on the flop if it doesn't come good for you. Remember that a flush draw on the flop is excellent for you and gives you a 40% chance of making the flush, and bet accordingly. Make sure you understand all odds, rankings and value. If you think you do, read up on them again.

Make more of an effort to read your opponents. Remember that at low stakes bluffs and blind steals often fail - be very selective about how you use them. Don't be predictable in any aspect of your play. Don't abuse all-ins, as you WILL get found out very quickly.

I went through the same cycle, when I first came to FTR I was a real weak/tighty, and I desperately wanted to get aggressive. Here's what I did:

1. Decide I am going to play SnGs/MTTs to practice aggression.
2. Read Ripptyde's MTT strategy.
3. See #2.
4. See #3.
5. Think about Ripptyde's MTT strategy, try to execute some of the strategies explained.
6. Talk to Ripptyde, he'll help you out.
7. When Ripptyde's SnG strategy came out, I also read that 5 or 6 times.
8. Move to ring and try to execute some aggressive strategies.
9. Making money is fun.

Now I'm one of the most LAggy players on FTR :P

I've been doing SnG's the last couple days. Made final table a couple times, ITM once, but haven't clinched one yet.

I'll report back to you later once I do.

This way is fun to play winning or losing though, lol. I'll keep working on it until I get that victory.

it is less risky to be aggressive in rings games than you think. When you first start, don't get overambitious. Wait until you are in late position, with something like a suited connector. No raisers before you, no more than one caller. Raise 4xBB. Bet 3/4 the pot on the flop. check/fold from there out (unless you make a hand, then play it accordingly). Doing this will cost you less than 1/5 of a buy-in, and i bet you will win 4/5 times.
