After looking at poker tracker, I lose far too much money on getting called down on an ACE high with AK after firing bullets on the flop, turn and river. When do I throw away AK ? Heres another situation.

woah, dont play $100nl, especially with a shortstack and if you are asking these questions.

In the first hand you should have folded on the flop, in the second hand you should have raised more preflop and then checked behind the turn and not put anymore money in.

Ya what andy said... are you properly rolled for 100nl? It really doesn't look like it...

You had Ace high in both of these hands and ended up allin... so many people overplay an unimproved AK.

stop overplaying AK, it's ok if you lose a pot with AK. you don't always have to win.

think to youself, What do i hold? I only have ace high, my hand is of the same value currently as A4o. If I was holding A4o would I play it like that? NO. you need to be able to let go of a missed AK, Far too many players Overvalue it even if it misses the flop just because it is a good starting hand. Be disciplined.

Second hand: What are you doing with barely 45BB at NL100?

    Preflop: Raise is ok

    Flop: c-bet is ok.

Turn:I think a bet or check is fine.At this point an Ace could easily be counterfeit for you(if someone is drawing to a wheel, and alot of clowns play any Ax so your Ace coould make two pair anyways for them.

River:You really need a good read that opponent is on a busted draw and is willing to lay it down. You have the nut no pair.He prob saw you were shortstacked and depserate, and he figured his Sixes were worth a showdown.

Essentially this is another overplayed AK hand.......it takes a while to fight but I eventually got over it somewhat.

First hand: Good;you have 80BB (although I prefer topping off).

    Preflop:Raise is ok.

Flop: Fold. His reraise is not good.If you had the Ace of hearts then your hand has slightly added redraw value for the backdoor flush;but we really can't presume you are drawing live.Against a shortstack I muck this and save my BB's.

And.......please use the hand converter.I had to paste your hh into pokerhand.org to follow it..........

People let me tell you about my best friends...
This is a classic leak. When I raise AK OOP and get 3 or more callers and miss, I will often check and look to give it up. AK is a BAD hand in big, multiway pots, particularly out of position.

On second hand, I'd need a read, but I'm either check/folding the turn or river. The problem with taking AK too far is that even if you hit an A on the turn, you might be up against a donk with Ax and get owned by two pr.

Repping the made hand works better against big stacks who muck their missed PP's and sometimes even top pair facing 2nd barrel - they know that they will face huge bets on later streets. Against shorties you don't create implied threat and bluffing is less effective. If you want more c-bet/fold ratio, play with big stack and do it against other nitty big stack, not with 45BB.

I think people do this to themselves when they don't play enough hands pre-flop. Discuss.

If what you're saying is that people who play very few hands pre-flop tend to overplay their premium hands, I definitely agree. If you sit there for thirty minutes hitting the muck button and then finally catch AK, you're naturally going to overvalue it.

Is this like a joke thread?..

Btw I think I overvalue AK aswell.. it's kinda like "Ah finally a decent hand after all the crap that I've been raising!"

    maxrol: Fold

    bubosvöcsö: Fold

    Flop (Board: 5d, 5c, 2s):

    Kingoli|DB: Bet 1.00
    _Vrax_: Raise 3.00
    Kingoli|DB: Call 3.00

    Showdown:

_Vrax_ shows: Ac, Kc (a pair of Fives)
    Kingoli|DB shows: 2h, 2c (full house)
_Vrax_ makes notes of Kingoli "trapping nit", reloads, reduces frequency of bluffs and starts to strong hands really fast.

Good thing is that after that hand I started to get shitload of flop turn and river calls on that table and suddenly my overpairs were worth playing for stack. Then my KK broke nit's overpayed QQ and I got plenty of turn calls with TPTK vs my overpairs...
