I think you are talking about Limit Hold'em here... It depends on what site you are playing at.
at TGC, the players get a little better at .25/.5 and .5/1 but not all too much. Theres a line that gets crossed on your way from .5/1 to 1/2 and 2/4 that the fish stop being so fishy. I sure wish I could get 4 people cold calling my raises....
Playing these lower limits just about everyone has odds to do everything they do, whether they know it or not. So your post flop play is where the real money is made. Raising preflop in a large multiway pot usually makes a nice size pot. You have to protect your hand (check/raising, etc) and give the other players incorrect odds to call. Only then will you start making a decent profit. Also, big hands such as QQ and AA go down in value in the micros, but the suited connectors and Axs cards gain in value, so be more willing to play these in late position if you know you will get paid off.
