At what limit is average player no longer raise/calling 72o?

I'm new to poker, and the biggest frustration I have so far is that when playing at very low limit (.05/.10) online games, basically people go in with anything.

I'll raise a QQ and have 5 people call, and 4 of them are calling something worthless, but with 5 people in, one of the worthless hands has a fair chance of becoming a great hand.

My question is 2-fold...

1) At what limit does the average player start playing with at least some skill? (Talking about online, royalvagaspoker.com) -- Not that i'm going to leave very low limit untill i gain a lot of skill =)

2) How should I play on a table like that? .. Play looser? Tighter? More aggressive? Less aggressive? .. I’m thinking that I should play a little looser, and play aggressively, but I’m not sure that’s the right move.

I am fairly new to poker as well (2 months total/2 weeks real money).

I've got the strategies and theories down pretty well covered. What I've found is that I do WAY better in the $25-$50NL .25/.50 tables. When you bet over the minimum in these rooms, the other players respect it and re-evaluate what they have in their hand. You will always have chaser and limpers no matter how much you raise, but you get out of the newbie aggressive/loose crowd that always seem to draw into a winning hand.

I will never play a $10NL .05/.10 again. Although I can easilly make a profit on these tables, u usually lose big to limpers that just wont fold their hand no matter how much I raise. On lower limit tables it's not really poker. It's best hand wins. No better than play money IMO. You can't improve your skills with these type of players.

On a table like that it's better to be tighter and be willing to fold if you think they may have hit their draw. Playing lose against lose players will just cause you fustration and bad beats. You have to remember, although a lot of guys don't know what they are doing on low limit tables, they still know what makes a good hand and will chase it at all costs. they havent learned that even though they may get a few big wins off of it, in the long run they will lose way more. Either that, or it's so little money to begin with they feel its a justified trade off.

I think you are talking about Limit Hold'em here... It depends on what site you are playing at.

at TGC, the players get a little better at .25/.5 and .5/1 but not all too much. Theres a line that gets crossed on your way from .5/1 to 1/2 and 2/4 that the fish stop being so fishy. I sure wish I could get 4 people cold calling my raises....

Playing these lower limits just about everyone has odds to do everything they do, whether they know it or not. So your post flop play is where the real money is made. Raising preflop in a large multiway pot usually makes a nice size pot. You have to protect your hand (check/raising, etc) and give the other players incorrect odds to call. Only then will you start making a decent profit. Also, big hands such as QQ and AA go down in value in the micros, but the suited connectors and Axs cards gain in value, so be more willing to play these in late position if you know you will get paid off.

I'm talking about Low-limit, No limit Hold'em (aka, .05/.10 NL to .25/.50 NL games)

Would your advice be to get to the flop as cheaply as possible, and play from there? .. Basically, call with hands that have a good chance to become a monster (aka: call with 98s, and stay only if you are just 1 card from a flush/straight)

I started losing money about the same time I started raising more often before the flop... But it's only been about a week, so might just be a bad run..

In microlimit "no foldem" you're playing a lot of draws. Your PFRs are not going to get many people out of there -- these all need to be for value. You need to pass if the flop misses you.

In NLHE you're looking to get in a position where you're dominating, and double up.
