Default What does TAG look like in Poker Tracker

I'm playing NL10. I'm trying to find situations and reads to be more aggressive and wondering what it will look like in the stats.

    Current (aprox):
    Hands =2600
    BB/100 = 20
    VP$IP = 25
    PF Raise = 6
    Agg Factor Flop = 1.36
    Agg Factor Turn = 1.29
    River = .96

    Poker Tracker says I'm Tight-Aggressive / Passive. What's a good line?

I picked up poker tracker in early December after reading these forums. Net $57 December. Up $77 so far this month. Thinking of moving up to NL25 soon but a little more experience at NL10 probably wouldn't hurt.

Would appreciate any thoughts on the differences between 10 and 25 NL?

If you can make people bet for you and make you money, then your line is good. But if the table is passive, and you are passive, then you lose out on money. If you are adjusting to tables and making money, then good line.

    Hi

i deposited to poker one day ago, deposited only 70 $, not that much, ive only played playmoney for a few months, read a few books, i know playmoney gives so lil exp, but..
after about 5 hours of playing on the 0.25 and 0.50 and also like a few hands on the 0.50 / 1 i was up to a total of 242.15 $ in about 6hours.

I think the competition si fairly easy, cause i usually read my opponent right, not just saying this , its true, sometimes i dont read them right to.

The only losses i got was like the blinds, some little 5 $ a couple of times and once a 15 $, and the last summary u see was the biggest i lost.

    my name is back2fish there

Heres some good pots i took down yesterday..

i recon that i can earn.. on my next deposit with about 100 $.. if i dont go to 2/4 until i have like 1000 $ +

if i just stay on 0.25 / 0.50 and 0.50 / 1 that are very easy to me.. and i play about 4 - 6 hours a day id earn... hm....

guaranteed 50+ $ a day, usually more, this must be a bad beat day.

    but mostly 100 $ a day...i mean i took down atleast 5 pots on 40 + yesterday and i played a total of 6 hours max.

at start im trying to play 7 days a week, 4 - 6 hours a day, cause im the kinda person who can handle that time.

    so 7 days x 100 $ is 700 $.

thats an average of 700 $ / week, on a very bad day or possibly a little playing its 350 $ a week.

average each month is 2800.. less a month would be 1400 - 2800..

Welcome to FTR betneer. It's generally better to start your own thread rather than piggybacking on someone else's. Now to business:

betneer, you played for one day, and you already think you can make $100 a day. I think you've just successfully completed the Newbie Circle of Death in 24 hours. Anyways, anyone can get lucky and have a really good session (what happened to you). Read the stickes in the beginner's section, they'll help you. Especially BR management. I've been in your situation before, I thought I was the shit cause I turned $200 into $1800 in a week, then I decided to play 5/10 and lost every penny. Currently I am bankrolled for $100NL, but I will play $200 or $400NL if I see a soft table. This is not recommended if you are new. I suggest starting from the bottom and working your way up.

I know it sounds like I'm contradicting myself when I say I'll play $200/$400NL when I'm only rolled for $100NL. But, I have a full time job. So dropping $400 in one hand won't affect my financial responsibilties. Will it suck? of course, but I won't lose any sleep over it. This is something I do very rarely. I will only do it if I find a SOFT table.

Here's an example of a SOFT table. I have position on Villian every hand except the small blind.

The people here, including myself, don't take to bragging about success too well.. especially from newbies.

The best way to brag is to post stats in your signature...

No ones saying it can't be done, this week I made $1K+ but in the first week of Jan I lost over $2K all at NL100/200. It's just not as easy as you think. Be prepared for big swings. You need at least $1000 to play 100NL because there will be periods where every good hand gets cracked and every bluff called, it happens to EVERYONE. If you dont enough $$ to back you up then, if you are serious about poker, you need build up on the lower limits until you are ready. You might even pick up a few tricks, especially if you keep reading and posting HH's here.

these are my pokerstars stats for my current NL100 session that I'm playing right now. I've been playing a pretty solid Tagg for a while. Both hands lost at showdown were small pots with a lot of checking and not much betting.

During current Hold'em session you were dealt 520 hands and saw flop:
    - 31 out of 60 times while in big blind (51%)
    - 14 out of 63 times while in small blind (22%)
    - 38 out of 397 times in other positions (9%)
    - a total of 83 out of 520 (15%)
    Pots won at showdown - 12 of 14 (85%)
Pots won without showdown - 47

Lukie, are you a multitabling nutpeddler?

If so, how do you manage to play beyond simple setfarming/nutpeddling? I got the impression that setfarming is a less fruitful at limits beyond 25NL.

15% seems a little low more of a rock. I am around 20-23% and it seems to be working. Still get involved in some pots I shouldn't be in but over all I like that number.

Also what is your PFR%? Mine is around 5% seems a little low but still not comfortable playing marginal hand for big pots.

yeah well today i deposited 50 $ again to see if i only was having luck.

i deposited at midnight and by an hour later i now have 93.75 $ just playing 0.25 / 0.50.. took 20 $ of 2 people from the same table by trapping with a pair.

Well, a LOT of my raises preflop were just winning the blinds. Hencse the 47? pots won without showdown.

Like anyone who has played with me a considerable amount, sometimes I can play like a rock, and others like a complete lagg. Today I would have classified myself as a standard tagg. I was up 2 buyins in 2 hours of play so I must have been doing something right.

For the person who asked.. my PFR at 100NL full ring has hovered at around 8% for quite some time now.

Betneer: try Poker Tracker or Pokeroffice (never used pokeroffice before but I believe it is a proggie that compiles stats on your play). Poker Tracker is excellent; it is shareware however which requires you to pay $55 if you want to build a DB larger than 1000 hands played.

Nobody said that earning $50-100/d (4h/ day) is impossible. However, it is impossible to sustain 85BB/h unless you're seriously multitabling. I don't think I've seen anyone who has posted stats here report a long-term winrate of more than maybe 12-15 BB/h on NL with possible exception of the penny tables.

Nothing we say will change your perception, so if you maintain this winrate (which you almost certainly won't, I'm sorry to say), all the power to you. Just remember that poker is a long-term game - and trapping with just a pair is very very dangerous.

    That is all.

    Regards,

    ok guys long time ago i checked this thread, i now realized you need like 200 $ or more for a proper bankroll on 0.25 / 0.25... a lil more for .5 / 1;

anyway, i started with 50 $ 2 days ago, im JUST playing 10$, 50$ sit and go's with 4 players in each.

im now on a total of 414.16$, means im + 366$ or around there..

just a tip to everyone, dont start playing low limit cash games, play sit and go's, ive won about 85 % of all ive been in

probably earned like 70 $ the first day then all the rest this day,

According to effective stack sizes, position and opponent's hand (unless opponent with AK limped in) it seems like you called a raise with 9Ts from BB with 25BB in front of you, flopped draw, made donkbet "semibluff" and finally hit 1:2 shot on the flop after being forced to put rest of your chips in the middle. Impressive, just wow.

$$$FREEROLL KING$$$ story from Parttimepoker website is running through my mind...

Lets see, if I can just average 85 big blinds per hour/table at pokerstars 10/20, while 8-tabling, for 10 hours a day and 365 days a year.....

    thats $49,640,000 a year.

Sounds easy to me....... (note sarcasm)

also, betneer, not to beat a dead horse, but I'd like to quote the advice I gave you earlier in this thread, as I saw the inevitable "bust" coming from a mile away.

    here's my advice to you:

    1. don't call people from FTR idiots who are only trying to help you.

    2. don't over-estimate your poker playing ability. you sound pretty bad. no disrespect intended.

    3. poker is a game of winning money, not masculinity.
dam idiots, i don need poker seesions for grown ups that play nl 10 buy in.. thats like 1/4 of a good pot for me
quoted in case somebody didnt realize where that came from.

    4. playing 2/4NL on a 1000 roll is suicide. Even if you play perfectly, it's very likely you lose that 'roll unless you have a lot of luck.
    5. try to learn. you seem pretty new to the poker world. trying to calculate your average daily income after playing such a short period of time is, like another poster implied, ignorant. First step is to become a solid, consistent winning player.
What would convince you to try playing 5/10NL on such a small roll is beyond me. At the risk of sounding too Fnordish, the NL1000 sharks appreciate your donation.

For the record, even if you have some natural poker playing ability (in my opinion, some people have it in them more than others), I predict your stubborn, arrogant, know-it-all attitude will hinder your development as a player. What's worse is you are a self-proclamed new player and you refuse to heed advice from many posters in this thread who are undoubtedly significantly better and more experienced at this game then yourself.

Again, I like to think of myself as a good person who likes helping others out, so I'm going to give you some more advice. What you do with this advice, well, that's your choice. Note that everything I said above still applies. I'm also going to assume you blew your entire bankroll on NL1000.

    1. Take some time and reflect on your poker career of late. Many players have similar 'newbie' stories. If I were to say that I never busted out as a fairly new player on the 3/6 short-handed tables, I'd be lying. Everyone makes mistakes.

    2. Learn the game. Accept the fact that you are a new player.. nobody is going to look down on you because of it. Read some books, read the poker forums (I usually read FTR and 2+2), play a lot of hands, watch your opponents, etc. When you note a blatantly horrible play, just understand that not everyone plays correctly (where do you think your money comes from?). This knowledge will get you far in the poker world.

    3. Start your bankroll over again, and build it the right way. I would recommend starting with no more than a few hundred dollars, and keeping a 20 buy-in MINIMUM rule. Even with this, I would not recommend rapidly moving up the stakes past say, NL100. In my opinion, the games start significantly improving after that point. I often have difficulty beating games above that point during the stabs I've taken, and I consider myself a pretty decent player.

    4. Once you really think you have a good feel for the game, get some poker utilities. I use the Pokertracker/Pokerace combination. There are also others, such as Pokeroffice and gametime+. Pokertracker/Pokerace seems to be the most popular though and I recommend it. Make sure that these programs don't stop you from actively watching other players, etc., but a trivial investment in tools can go a LONG way towards successful online poker.

    5. For yourself, I would recommend a standard, abc, tight-agressive game. If your VPIP soars above 20 in full ring, you are playing too loose. This obviously does not apply to everybody, but this style is a proven winner and is the (theoretically) correct way to play hold 'em. I don't know how many tables you were currently playing, but I'd start with 1-2 than maybe add a third, and eventually a fourth. Make sure you have a monitor that can support that with no overlap; this is extremely important.

    6. Know that you are a new player and as such you have much to learn. Keep an open mind. At this risk of discrediting my entire post, you sound like a pretty poor player who thinks he knows it all, much like I did when I first started playing. I promise you this isn't the case, and that to further your development as a poker player, you have a lot to learn and exerience. Make sure you re-read the advice I gave you in my other post.

First read Vrax's excellent post. I'm going to go a bit further with it, just because I want to.

I'm going to assume action went something like this: folds/limps to villain, he raises, you call shortstacked with a suited connector, anyone else who was in the hand (I presume nobody, as there aren't too many open-limpers at this level) folds. Flop comes K high with 2 spades. You say you read villain for a king.

How? Villain's range of hands certainly include those with a K, most notably AK and KQ, but how can you be certain, or even confident, that he has a K when villain's only action is a late position, opening raise?

Ok, so you call with your suited connector preflop which is terrible. Short stacked, calling a raise heads up and out of position. Hrrrm.

Yeah, so let's just assume that your read is 100% dead-on, and villain has a K. Why bet into him with a shortstack? You are about 5:1 against hitting your flush by the turn and about 2:1 against hitting your flush by the river, yet you eagerly put your money in against a stronger hand with hardly any implied odds if you hit? That sir, is terrible. I suggest you reread this entire thread very carefully, FTR as a whole is doing you a great service.

Move up ASAP. 10 buy-ins is fine.
I did that at NL100 and got annihilated. The proper BR is usually considered 20 buyins minimum(and I personally prefer alot more). Each day you can dedicate roughly 5 buyins;but you should often stop if you lose 2.5 (although table and game conditions play a role too).I know some people who make it a point to automatically drop down a level if they lose a full buyin in order to prevent any form of TILTING.

My advice was directed at the topicstarter who runs 20BB/100 at 10NL. A BR of 250$ is then enough IMO (assuming he doesn't mind dropping back at 150 or so).

    My favourite bit is this:

he couldnt think i had a flush, i semubluffed 4 to flush on flop and continued betting

OMG what an amazing new tactic! Astonishing psychological manipulation! The world of $1000NL will be rocked by such sheer audacity! And other such sarcastic comments!

Thanks for this thread. It ought to be linked in the Newbie Circle of Death sticky thread as a cautionary tale.

    but mostly 100 $ a day...i mean i took down atleast 5 pots on 40 + yesterday and i played a total of 6 hours max.

at start im trying to play 7 days a week, 4 - 6 hours a day, cause im the kinda person who can handle that time.

    so 7 days x 100 $ is 700 $.

thats an average of 700 $ / week, on a very bad day or possibly a little playing its 350 $ a week.

average each month is 2800.. less a month would be 1400 - 2800..
