Default what to do w/ pockets?

i dont know if this belongs in this thread or the tournament thread, but anyways...i know what to do w/ pocket j's and higher, but what do i do preflop with 9's and lower? usually if i get 8's or 7's, i really dont know what to do, do i raise preflop? or just call, b/c im always thinking that if i raise preflop w/ mediocre pockets, and 2 highcards come out, then definetely someone that called my preflop raise will definetely have hit one of there cards. any advice please? (i usually play SNG's). thanks guys

...and I expect lots of players to call with AQ/AJ. Some players call with A2. It sure as hell is far more +EV than pushing/calling with 66-22, and I see people do that all of the time.

yea i was wondering what's wrong w/ going all in AK if your shortstacked? To me, it always seems that either the Ace or the King comes out.

(sigh) I wish it was that simple...we'd all be WSOP champions :P

Not a snowballs chance in hell for you Rippy. Remember any paint works reverse karma on you. :P

I agree with rippy's first analysis. Call any marginal bet and hope to hit your set. Trying to jam the pot when you're only going to hit 11% of the time isn't my idea of a good strategy, but if you hit a few lucky ones you'd be in good shape.
