Default What % of hands should one be playing???

I play a very low percentage of hands and really can't believe what most people call and raise with. What is the standard % of flops seen on a 10 player table including BB & SB? I play aat the .25/.50 table. Lately I play the BB hand and maybe 1 other hand per round. So I am somewhere around 15%. This morning I played 50 hands and saw 7 flops. I won one hand. I started with $14 and left with $26. I only saw the TURN & River once on my winning hand. The other 6 hands I dropped after the FLOP. 2 people were betting $5 after the FLOP. I love that...I just stay patient...wait for a good hand, and then double up on these big spenders.

Usually I'll play with POCKET PAIRS, if I hit a set on the FLOP, I'll usually check, but someone will bet then I go ALL IN...and since it's under $20....someone calls.

After I hit...I leave the table and look for another one and only take in 10 - 20. I've been able to build a decent bank roll this way...but should I play more hands???

If you play only premium hands you will win that is a fact but your winning will be very slow. You shoud consider playing suited connectors in late position and some other hands with position.

Your flop % should be about 25% to maximize your winning potential. Also it seems that you never bluff and that will leave you very readable. You either got the goods or your don't. Play for few orbits and any good player will pick this up.

15% VP$IP is pretty low. If I read that right, you're more like 5% (when you're in the BB, you don't chose to put money in). That's insanely low. I'd expect higher than that even if all you played were pocket pairs. You can definitely make more profit if you play a few more hands, especially from late position.

AK is playable from any position. AQ is as well, but with as tight as you've been, start adding it in late position first. AJ/KQ are both hands you should be willing to play in late position. There are a lot more hands than this that are playable, (and in fact, I'd raise preflop with every hand/position combo I mention above) but to start moving out of your rockness, start playing (raising is good!) these.

If you're playing that tight and people are calling you, you have no reason to leave the table, and little valid reason to buyin short stack. Buyin with the max and play almost the same way you have been. When you hit a spot you'd normally push, instead just reraise to $15. Then on the turn/river you can milk even more out of them!

Thanks. I am usually playing the following hands:

    Any pocket pairs

    Any A + Suited card

    A - T combinations IF SUITED

    AK

In SB, I'll expand a little.

Yes, my accounting background makes me pretty conservative...

What other should I be playing that were not already mentioned....thanks

Beyond the hands that have been mentioned, it's situational for me. I'll play things as weak as K9o in late position fairly frequently if I think the table warrants it...may even raise with it to try to take it down before the flop or give myself bluffing power if high cards come.

    Position is the key thing

Whereas marginal hands from UTG are a fold, but the later the position and lack of action in front of u, the more likely those same cards suddenly become (a) playable and (b) raiseable (yeah, ok, that isn't a proper word!)

e.g AJ off from UTG is more than likely a fold, whereas AJ off from middle-to-late position suddenly has raising potential. Same with small pp's from same position. UTG I am more likely to chuck them, whereas middle-to-late, I am more free to limp and, in the right situation (but less often maybe) raise.
