Went to showdown%

Where do I want my "went to showdown" percentage to be at? I assume mine is lower (27%) because I am not giving the fish decent odds to chase their draws. Discuss.

I wouldn't think it would matter as long as your W%SD is high.

Mine is a little over 65% I think (not sure, I am at work).

I must be a nit--mine is usually 20-25%

My win $ at showdown is 66.30%.

My went to showdown is 28.32%

You have to think, you win money when you take the pots before showdown. If you get a lot of folds to your aggression, then your WSD will be lower. I think what matters is, of the showdowns you saw, how many did you win?

My showdown win is 60% which I think is pretty good.

it is directly dependent upon how aggressive and tight you play.

there is no correct answer. think of this...

i am a tight player, will i see more showdowns than a loose player? if so, my number may still not be less than his.

if i push a lot of people out on the flop or turn, will my number be lower than a guy who pushes pf, and tends to "control the pot?"

would you agree that all four of these players could be long term winners? if so, what is ideal, as their WtSD numbers could be wayyyy off.

the purpose for the number is to more to track others...not yourself, imo.

agree completely and would expect both players numbers to fall from 27%+/60%+ when they move off 10NL.

you may be surprised. i have been discussing this very topic lately w/ my brother.

i contend that you NEED to watch the number very closely, as it tells you when to semi-bluff, or value bet very accurately.

i see LAGs with high showdown numbers, too. mostly not, as they are pushing people off pots, but you still need to notice when you are up against one...you cant push back at him, which is a common play for a TAG when battling a LAG.

my favorites are the Loose-Aggressive-Passives...the ones that play hard pf, but dont bet postflop. i used to think they were aggressive, and push and push...then, wonder why they never left the pots. i noticed their StSD numbers were through the roof, and started value betting hands that beat their ranges, and let THEM tell me when they hit something big...and now i kill those guys. i like them better than LPP's.

aggression does go up as you go higher in levels, but always watch those SD #'s...in relation to what everyone else seems to be (and of course yourself)...you can still pick out the callers.
