Was I just lucky?
So... here's my story.
I bought in a couple of days ago for 40 dollars on Pokerroom. I played on some 10-max 25cent BB tables just to get some confidence, effectively bolstering my stack to around 50 dollars. A friend suggested I go to a 25/50 cent 6-MAX NL table, which I did. I bought in 25 dollars, and got it up to 35, left the table. I did this at a few tables until my bankroll was probably nearing 80-90 dollars.
I got in for 25 at another table, and then got a gigantic boom to my bankroll when I busted Pocket Aces with Trip Sixes. My bankroll was around 170 dollars after that hand, and I called it a night.
Then last night, I played and lost nearly all of it, pushing me back down to 35. Playing the same tables, same blinds, same 6-Max. I think I really just needed to stop around the 100 range in my bankroll.
Now I'm sitting at around 35 dollar stack, and without a lot of confidence. I basically feel that I only got a big bankroll due to a fluke hand, and today I played tight at 25 cent tables (like I Started with)... only playing KJ, KQ, AJ/Q/K or pocket pairs. But every time the flop missed for me... no draws, no anything. I couldn't really call the 2 dollar bets just hoping to get trips on the turn or to pair one of my hole cards.
So I blinded myself down and repeatedly had to fold off the flop. Is there anyway to get confidence (And bankroll) back. Was my BR not big enough to start with to deal with these swings? I don't need to be a monstrously profitable player... but I want to understand what I'm doing wrong in order to try and at least stay around even, and not make huge mistakes. I feel like such a fish heh.
